I considered this a TEEN TITANS book, because, well, they were the JLA proteges and stuff. And that's what the Teen Titans are.
I'm currently re-reading this to determine if I want to keep it, but I'm 99.999% sure I will. I'd forgotten how fun this series was.
And I haven't even made it to the issue whre the girl join yet! Things get even more fun when girls join up, everyone knows that!

Loved YJ.
Feel offended at the borderline-insulting "other Teen Titans" name. They weren't the Titans, and that was not a bad thing.

True! Plus the first few issues were on that slick paper I didn't like.

Derogatory? Nonsense. YJ *did* fill the Teen Titans void.

Then consider my use of the phrase "other Teen Titans" hyperbolic.

I may have to shift my comic boxes again to get out the YJ "full coverage" issue. Tee hee!
For me, YJ was frequently the comic in the pile that stood out, surprised me. That was a title I would have been glad to recommend to a preteen or young teen, although I don't think an opportunity presented itself. (Wait...I bought the first YJ trade for a B&N holiday book drive for kids, so I guess I did.)
Was T. Nauck the right artist for the right book, or what?

Has Cissie made any appearances or been mentioned lately, other than Cassie (?) saying "that's not Cissie" when she saw the picture of Speedy in "the future"?

Not that I'm aware of.
I *loved* Arrowette, and posted on the old DC board that she was the best-written young lady in comics.

She's in the TEEN TITANS/OUTSIDERS SECRET FILES 2005 issue, appearing in a story with Wonder Girl (Cassie).

I liked Arrowette too -- she was probably my favorite. I especially liked her remaining a part of the comic even though she left the team. She quit superheroing, not her friendships.
Did you see her early appearances in Impulse?

Dude!! I Cissie. (<shameless plug>She would be half the protagonist in my fic in bits. </shameless plug>) Arrowette was so my favorite of the YJ girls. I'm happy she's not been totally forgotten in Teen Titans. I did like that she goes to the Elias School for Girls with Cassie. I just wish she could have a role like she did in YJ. Oh well, at least she's in the Secret Files!!

I still miss this title. Stupid editorially-mandated team reshufflings ... some names are (or should be, tanjit) specific to certain groups ... It's not "The Titans" without any of the Fab Five. It's not "The Outsiders" without Halo, Katana, or Geo-Force.
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

So I'm still rereading YJ.
Were they, like, a huge hit at first or what? An all-YJ SECRET ORIGINS 80-page giant, a YJ 80-page giant, a Secret Files 1-shot, and a YJ special (Lagoon Boy guest-starred)... all this in the first year.

So last night I read the powerful YJ # 15, which features the last days of Arrowette. And the ramifications in # 16.
I couldn't believe PAD went through with it, but he did.
Cissie maintained her ties with them, and even participated in adventures (the space-baseball story) but never again appeared as Arrowette.
She kind-of kept the non-powered/non-costumed member tradition alive.
Meanwhile, I was annoyed at the fact that Red Tornado was denied human rights re: Traya yet he was arrestable.
PAD played it off as Old Justice interference. Good enough.
coming up: SINS OF YOUTH!

Finished SINS OF YOUTH (including the JSA, Wonder Girls, Deadman, JLA and Aquaman 1-shots-- I skipped the Super/Bat/Flash ones) storyline and-- LOVED IT.
How could I have forgotten how much fun YOUNG JUSTICE was? My favorite 1-shot was probably the JSA one; I liked how at the end they all fell asleep and Courtney joined them. It also had a nice moment for Gimmick-Girl Merry.
Question: Why are de-aged androids so cute? De-aged Red Tornado and Hourman were precious, and the villainous teen-Amazo was a hottie with his "NO JLA" tattoo and his chin-pubes!
Also read the "Olympics/Zandia" tale-- AWESOME and heavy Cissie-focus.
Might I add Todd Nauck rawks?
Next: SPACE-BASEBALL! Yay!

This was one of my favorite series of all time... gotta love the PAD.
The one thing I always remember is the cover where the team is "fleeing" Mt Rushmore and there is all these sticks of dynamite in one of the noses... and one of the team members says, "She's gonna blow!"
That tickles me everytime. I wasn't too pleased with Sins at the time... the periphery stories just didn't aid the main story too much. I'm planning on rereading the series again in the near future though... have to see if its as good as I remember it.
Something Filthy!

So YJ's entire monthly PAD/Nauck run was during my first hiatus from ongoing superhero comics and I've been catching up via back issues, and...AAAAUGH! I can't find #54-55, the final two issues, anywhere! I've looked at a half dozen stores, and nothing!
Somebody please spoil it for me, what happens in those two issues? And I'd suggest putting it in a spoiler box so that anybody who hasn't yet had the full YJ experience doesn't have it spoiled for them.

I've actually totally forgotten and will need to re-read in order to tell you...
IMO they should bring back YJ with PAD writing and cancel Teen Titans. Why? Re-reading this thread made me realize: ANYone else would have killed Cissie off after she ditched her Arrowette guise. That's awful.

Well, I finally read the conclusion of PAD's Young Justice run, and... ...while I was happy that Greta was okay at the end, I felt somehow underwhelmed, like I'd been hoping for something more grandiose, like a showdown on Apokolips. But I don't think it's PAD's fault at all. Let's not forget who had taken over as EiC shortly before YJ's cancellation. Still, an adequate resolution to a frequently brilliant series.

Young Justice deserves nothing but love! Peter David did an excellent job. I just wish some of those characters had transitioned beyond the series - a lot of them were really cool!
Man, I'll never forget an issue (it might've been a crossover or 80-Page Giant) where couple of JSA members (I want to say it was Green Lantern and Flash) watching the YJ kids with Red Tornado doing something and being like, "I want to join Young Justice." "Me too." It was too cute!

Very well said, Cali.
I might have already said what I'm about to say in other thread, but I think it bears repeating: PAD's Young Justice run was, along with the first 18 months of the Postboot Legion, the closest I've ever seen to the anything-goes spirit of the Silver Age being rekindled.

I need to give Young Justice another go sometime. I read and quite enjoyed the first few issues but it only took me one bad issue to drop a comic back then, and that issue guest starring the terrible Bloodlines characters (Razorsharp and the Psyba Rats I think they were called) is what did it for me.
I also didn't really pay attention to writers back then so I think it was only much later that I realised that that issue wasn't written by the book's regular writer.
I think the thing that has really prevented me from returning to the book over the years is that I really don't (or didn't) like some of the main characters.
I used to really dislike Impulse, but eventually grew to appreciate the uniqueness of his goofy character as a breath of fresh air in the otherwise way too somber DCU (just in time for Geoff Johns to destroy it in his Teen Titans run  ).
But I have never liked Cassie Sandsmark Wonder Girl. So knowing that she's one of the main four characters in that whole series is a big obstacle.

Blacula, Cassie evolves a lot over the course of PAD's Young Justice run. TBH, I've only ever liked Cassie when PAD was the writer. Didn't like her per-PAD in Byrne's Wonder Woman, didn't like her post-PAD in Johns' Teen Titans.

I've said this for years, but they need to get PAD to do a Young Justice reunion miniseries to try and do damage control on the characters.

Unfortunately, that won't happen until the three-headed executive monster running DC has been kicked out into the street. It's no coincidence that PAD stopped working for DC right after the 2002 executive shift.

Yes. It's actually quite good, but I don't like the way the writer (Todd DeZago) indirectly accused PAD of using his ideas in the Titans Companion 2 book. That sounded like sour grapes to me. PAD, like all of us, has many faults, but passing off someone else's ideas as his own is not one of them.

Earlier this morning, I spontaneously brainstormed a ton of ideas for a Young Justice continuation, if it were to pick up from where the PAD/Nauck series left off. In no particular order:
- Greta (formerly Secret) would remain a supporting cast member as she adjusts to being a normal child now. She'd be especially close to Cissie and Traya.
- Spoiler would deputize for Robin as team leader while he takes care of some personal issues.
- Empress would leave the team to concentrate full-time on raising her de-aged-to-infancy parents, but still make the occasional guest appearance.
- Wonder Girl would find out that the whole "Zeus is my real daddy" crap was a deception engineered by Circe.
- Impulse, who doesn't care anymore whether he lives or dies, would disappear into the Speed Force for an indefinite amount of time.
- New members, including The Ray's ex-JL teammate Gypsy (who renames herself -- I haven't decided on a name yet, but I've got...um...Camouflage as a placeholder,) Steel's niece Natasha Irons (as Mecha,) and Lagoon Boy.
- An adventure in space, guest-starring the Wonder Twins (who appeared, quite memorably, in YJ #50,) and having Snapper Carr confront an embarrassing part of his past when it turns out there really is a Star-Tsar, and, man, is he evil!
- And last (for the moment) but not least...SINS OF YOUTH 2: BABY BOOGALOO -- last time it was LOBO, this time it's MAXIMA's turn to get irreversibly de-aged (just don't call her "Maxie," 'cause she still packs a powerful punch!)
Still "Fickles" to my friends.

Bendis and Patrick Gleason are relaunching YJ... It's in this month's PREVIEWS. Superboy! Wonder Girl! Robin! Impulse! Amethyst! They're all united in YOUNG JUSTICE #1, the debut issue of a brand-new series that also introduces new heroes Teen Lantern and Jinny Hex! When the nightmare dimension known as Gemworld invades Metropolis, these teen heroes reunite to deal with the situation-but they're shocked to discover the battle may be the key to the return of Conner Kent, a.k.a. Superboy! This mix of fan favorites and new legacy heroes will be the center point for some of the biggest goings-on at DC! As if that weren't enough, Bendis reunites with all-star artist Patrick Gleason (SUPERMAN, ACTION COMICS, GREEN LANTERN CORPS) to bring the new heroes of DC's Wonder Comics to life! In-store date is 1/9/19, cover price is $4.99

Is Teen Lantern a new character? I thought I'd heard the name before.
"New legacy heroes" = derivative characters = probably no pennies from DC royalties programme.

I don't think there's ever actually been a character called "Teen Lantern", but the name has been around in Fandom for quite awhile. As I recall, there was a guy on the old DC Boards who was obsessed with the idea, and would post about it on various boards, including the Legion one, regularly.
