...went to the bank to deposit a cheque from my renters.

... saw some fog rolling in and heard a foghorn going off.

... cut myself shaving in the morning, was told I'm being laid off at the end of the month in the afternoon, and accidentally hydroplaned my car into a telephone pole in the evening.

What a day... man, that shaving cut smarted.

...felt bad for exnihil. But at least no injuries from the nasty telephone pole.

...and today I got up at 4 a.m. to look for the Perseids, but not only was the moon a bit too bright, some haze moved in. I did see one bright one, but that was it.

Today I... start officially stressing over the start of school. 90 degree heat in the rooms with 30 at-risk kids whose biggest challenge in life will be to find a button on me that has never yet been pushed.

. . . had a much better evening. I attended a meeting of comp teachers at the college where I teach, and now I'm jazzed up for the semester.

Getting courses and classroom ready. Got a nice email from a former student.

Had an upper GI, to look down my gullet. The doctor was also a grad student in the Math Dept., so technically, I outranked him. Isn't life funny sometimes.

Had to borrow a dollar from the kid behind me in the parking pass line; stupid people don't take credit cards.

As for moi... finally got to sleep around 4am after chatting with a new friend on FB til 2:30. Woke up at a quarter to 9.

It's gonna be a looong (hot!) day...

...plan to go to CBS during lunch to pick up Mice Templar Sketchbook because Pickles decided he wanted to see what a comic book tasted like. Thankfully it wasn't a Silver Age comic he did that took. I've learned my lesson.

Also not looking forward to this heat tomorrow when I have to go to NYC and take a reinsurer to lunch.

... booked my train trip to Seattle and flight home. Now just have to get a room for 2 nights.
