Quis, how long have you had two left thumbnails?!

rasm frasm double posts. But what is this? Suddenly one is gone. It's like a moderator of the forum deleted one. I wonder which of the forum moderators did that?

Now that's how you remove a post. wink

Quis: laugh

In other news, mr_cleome got stuck at work with some late-breaking disaster, and then he had an errand to run. So I ordered us pizza, but the pie got here before he did.

As a testament to the institution of marriage, I set the oven on low and put the pie in there to await his return. (And I have the radio cranked up super-loud so I can't hear it calling to me.)

The first documented invention of the door handle appears in U.S. Patent entries for the year 1878 when a patent for improvements on a door-closing device was issued to a man named Osbourn Dorsey.

One of the few words that rhymes with "toilet" is the Irish surname "Moylett", which happens to be the birth surname of former Boomtown Rats keyboardist Johnnie Fingers.

When I read restaurant reviews of local places online, I often wonder if people who complain about service know what they're talking about. I've been to some of the places they complain about service-wise and don't remember having problems.

Maybe the issue is that so many chain restaurants get wayyyy too carried away with the attentive style of service, and then customers expect it no matter where they go... ?

I don't like being ignored or feeling frozen out by hipper-than-thou servers. But I also don't like it when the servers obviously feel compelled to check in with me every 3.5 minutes to make sure everything's okay. Some level of service about halfway between those two extremes is generally what makes me happy.

Well cleome, ever since I worked at the bank, I am more patient and less patient with customer service people (which would include wait-staff). If it is busy and I see that the customer service person is working hard, I have all the patience in the world. However, if I see the customer service person slacking off (such as by talking to a co-worker about what TV show they saw last night) and I have to wait even 3 seconds, I get mad.

I'd never really listened to those lyrics before. Quite advanced for '60s pop.

The "The Lady and the Tiger and the Lawyer" episode of the Dick Van Dyke show (broadcasted 1/15/64) had a new neighbor move in next door. ROb sets him up with Sally, Laura sets him up with her cousin. The neighbor has a good time with both women, but won't go on a second date with either. He explains to Rob & Laura that he is a recovering wife beater and doesn't want to get involved with any woman at this time.

I thought that was a very advanced subject for a 60s sitcom.

I never pay attention or take to heart anything that critics have to say about anything.

It's like turning to a perfect stranger, getting their advice on a movie (let's say) and then either going to see it ot not ... based entirely on what they said!

Never going to happen.

My old real estate agent just invited me to come to an Open House on the Oregon Coast. The house being showcased is valued at slightly under a million dollars.

Real Estate agents are such adorably optimistic people. Can somebody here lend me $50 for gas and rent me a summery formal suit? Something else else in a nice white or pale blue linen would be good...

I'm convinced that there must exist somewhere on the internet clips of Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress with the subtitles replaced by dialogue from Star Wars. It just seems like such an obvious thing to do that, despite my inability to find such clips, I just can't believe that no one has done it.

My cat Belinda is coping with the fireworks very well. The smaller firecrackers don't seem to bother her. The louder ones have made her move from her spot near the window. She is currently laying down beside my feet.

Quis, your cat sounds as cute and lovable (not to mention a scaredy cat) as mine.
She just went through her second Canada Day fireworks ordeal! Poor thing. lol
