Bedard said in his CBR interview that "...I have two more high-profile projects that DC hasn't announced yet, so I'll remain mum, but I will say that anyone who liked my CrossGen science fiction book "Negation" is going to love one of these unannounced stories. And anyone who likes girls and kung fu will love the other one. "
I think it was announced 'girls and kung fu' is a Black Canary miniseries. Sci Fi could either be LSH or something 21st century (maybe L.E.G.I.O.N. hoping)

Greg Land did a fantastic job on Sojourn and Ultimate F4 in the last years. He's become a great artist - but I don't know if he would be up to a BIGGER team book... anyway he draws great women. So if no Perez, he would be my number two :-)
Laroccas Newuniversal ist really great and therefore I don't think he should move.

I'd love to see MLLASH and EDE write it.
No, seriously!
Legion Worlds NINE - wait, there's even more ongoing amazing adventures? Yup, and you'll only find them in the Bits o' Legionnaire Business Forum.

Me too!
I actually think Tony Bedard would be one of the best possible choices. He's proven himself as a great team book writer and a great sci-fi writer and he'd definately have a new take on the Legion, which I feel is desperately needed.
I'd probably rank him in my top #5 choices. I also feel like he might stay awhile, which is a must for the Legion. No 12 issue runs, we demand a minimum of 30 but truly expect 60. We're Legion fans, after all. Easy to please just isn't our style.
I think Bedard would do a good job of giving 25 different voices an issue and making it feel naturally.

Bedard did 43 or 44 issues of Exiles. Subtract the six issues of filler that he did while Claremont recovered from illness, and you still have 37 or 38 issues. That's very promising.

Who did the back up stories? Specifically the planet where everyone was black? Thanks.

What else has Bedard done? I know the name, but I'm not sure I've read any of his work.

I believe he cowrote some issues of the current title when Waid was clanked up with 52.

I'm really not sure how I would feel about Bedard on the Legion. His Exiles was... I dunno. There were a lot of things about Winick's that I missed.
But, I have to say, I've liked most of his DC work thus far. He's just not my favorite. I'd much rather see Champagne on the title...

Most relevant to the Legion is probably the fact that he was the writer on CrossGen's Negation, which I never read but remember hearing good things about at the time.

Yeah, I was considering picking up Negation at one point. Interesting.

Negation was one of the best comics in the market when it was out. By far Crossgen's best and I'd say just as good as anything coming out at the time, including JSA, etc. It was consistently in my top five.
Bedard excelled in that title, and I think a lot of it had to do with it being a sci-fi comic with a very large cast that he could flex his muscles with. I think the Legion would be the perfect fit in that aspect. Plus, it was a fresh take that had tons of things happening each issue while a much larger story was slowly being told--so it had the 'done in one' feel combined with a much larger epic to it, which I feel is a comic book MUST these days.

Well according to Wikipedia he's worked for/with everbody. He did a little bit of everything at Valiant before becoming an editor (so I guess he knows Shooter those rumors wont go away will they?). Then worked on DC's editorial staff, then recruited to Crossgen. Then writing mostly for Marvel and now back to DC.

I'm actually a Bedard fan I'm just so fixated with Geoff Johns. But Bedard is a good writer. I loved his Exiles and his Negation was awesome! But I was just hoping for a bigger name. Why? Cause if sales don't go up writers/editors take drastic measures on the title.

I'm betting on Bedard or Champagne. Or, it's someone big that they're putting off for some splashy announcement.
Artwise? I don't know. Paul Pelletier would do a nice job, but he's taking over FF. McKone, Jimenez, Grummett, Eaglesham, Lightle. Pacheco once said in an interview a couple of years back that he'd really like to do the Legion. I don't know if he's fast enough for a monthly though. Whatever happened to Greg LaRocque?

Bedard did a really great job on negation. That book, like many of the other Crossgen books, rocked - great SciFi space opera. Unfortunately, Bedard couldn't end his epic because Crossgen went down during the Negation War miniseries, and so nobody knows if he can write a good ending, which I consider the most difficult part of storywriting. Maybe someday someone will pick up Negation and Sojourn and finish those really wonderful books.
As for the new artist: In the "George Perez Storyteller" HC, he ends the book with a clear statement that he would really very much like to draw his favorite childhood heroes - the Legion. I have this feeling that it could be his very next project after Brave and the Bold if TPTB don't object. All I can say is: I would buy two!
