What is the "Shelf-life" of a topic before it gets thrown in the discard pile?

Hi there (again)

Am curious as to how long a topic can stay posted before it gets too old to keep any more

Im really getting concerned when there are poor reactions to certain posts - does that also mean automatic disposal?

Topics here don't get "disposed of". A thread lives or dies based solely on whether or not people respond to them. Any old thread can be found and resurrected if someone sees an old one that they had missed before and want to respond to it. You'll only see a certain number of posts depending on how many days you choose to display (on the top of the page, you have the option "posts from the last ten days", "...3o days" etc.)

If a topic doesn't catch on, that's really all it is. I wouldn't assume that anyone's offended or annoyed by it -- feel free to try anything (as long as it follows the guidelines of the board), but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't generate a lot of responses - you just never know.

Right. Every topic made since the board was created is here.

You can use the search link above to look up anything that had been discussed before and it's always fun to bump some old topic up and breath new life into it.

There are no plans to delete any of them.

And as for whether or not a topic gets a response, one can always bump it up after a few days to garner interest. Everyone has their own schedules about when they can hang around here and sometimes people get addicted to coming here at different times than others.

There s no shelf life on Legion World! All the threads here are immortal! Which is why I periodically bump them! They may not have gotten the attention they deserved the first time around, and they deserve a second or third or fourth chance!

Not unlike Lester Spiffany.

Are we implying that we keep spoiled topics on the shelf?

In fact, I believe my Nurse topic may have to be bumped sometime in the future! It's like my star child that went off to college and became a congressman! I'm so proud!

It also has to do with the nature of a topic. Highly specific topics, like...who had a hair miscoloring in issue # 321 of the old adventure series is gonna be limited.

But "inane one word..." well, that can go on forever. I myself like to try to make a conversation there with just one word that evokes a specific feeling or meaning. The responses are as variable as human nature can make it.

So topics, like the political ones, generally burn out after a time due to high emotions and thorough discussions.

Others are issue specific, like discussing legion #6, or the roll call.

But there are some really great threads out there.

The people here tend to be a lot smarter, kinder, and friendlier than places like the DC boards in general, or something like Newsarama.

Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

Something pithy!

Hi Brian! I moved this down to SPHQ, since it's site related and may help someone else out who has a similiar question.

There are no stupid questions; only stupid subjects of Lester's ire!

Hi there, Gary,

Again, you got me out of a potential fix and thanks for your intuition and judgement regarding my query.

It might be late now to wish all at Legion World a super second anniversary, but i do feel as though i am somewhere where i know i fit in. I like the non-judgemental feelings of posters like Stargazer, Ferro Boy and Paris Cub...and the encouragement shown thus far towards my posts.

You are definitely the greatest, buddy

Cheers,

Brian
