Most movie trailer websites I go to only work with Quicktime, which I don't have on my computer at home or at work.
Question: Should I download it? Is it good? What do you use?
And is downloading it onto my work PC a big no-no?
Come computer gurus, I call thee forth!

All I can tell you is that it's a product of Apple computers, so it's not some shady thing that will bring down your entire company.
I dursn't download things at work - too much of the big brother hovering around.

Depends Cobie. Especially on your role at work. For normal computer users who really aren't on the tech side of things I wouldn't recommend downloading it. As a product it is good and safe to use but it is something that most companies may frown on having added to their system.
Windows Media Player is bundled with Windows and most companies I've seen don't block it out, allowing employees to use it for most music/video enjoyment except for the illegal kind and streaming (steaming media can knock the hell out of a network especially if not made for handling multiple requests for it).
I use Quicktime both at home and work but I have that freedom. I say download it at home and e-mail yourself any movie links you may come across during the day. Don't take the chance at work.
BTW, the FF trailer? Definitely not worth getting in trouble for at work. You can wait until you get home.

Thanks guys! (And Scott, the FF trailer is exactly the reason I started this thread ). I have quite a bit of freedom at work, moreso than all of my friends, so I could probably download it with no problems. But if it's the slightest bit of a hassle, I probably just won't. I wish they'd just have all the movie trailers online playable in Windows Media Player though! I have that one on my work PC already.

The reason you find most trailers (if not all) released in Quicktime format is because it is a much better quality than Windows wmv format. It allows for larger formats and is just much crisper and cleaner.
If you know what you are doing the program is not really a big hassle to download at all. If you think that your work will be okay with it then go for it. It is pretty straight forward and easy to do. If you decide to and have any questions post them or shoot me a PM. I'm free for another hour or so before the next round of meetings.

It's a tough call to make...but I might give it a try. Is there a link you know of off-hand that I can just download it from, Scott? BTW, thanks, as always

Probably missing the boat, but I really need to give a shout out to the approval of QuickTime. IMO, it is the #1 movie viewer. Windows Media always seems to be dicey IMO, and the quality is less. And Real Player is just...ugh. I've had more people with more problems because of that program. Plus it's got a horrible tendency to install stuff you don't want without you knowing if you're not careful.
As for downloading it at work... That would make me twitchy, since I'd be hesitant to get into the habit of downloading stuff onto a machine that generally needs to be 'clean' for proper working conditions. But if it's ok with your employers, there's no real problem here.

Quicktime is fine for watching streaming media, but one of the pluses for WMP and Real is that the file sizes are smaller, thereby allowing for faster download of files. mov files can get fairly large, and although the quality is perhaps better, you can find wmv and rm files that are fairly good quality. Alot of it depends on how they were created, I think. Real and WMP movies that use DivX seem to be fairly good quality, but at a reasonable file size.

It's like Paris Hilton reading an encyclopedia, isn't it?
