1. Giant Man vs. Cannonball
Cannonball rips Hank Pym a new one, and trashes the surroundings but, Hank thinks of something. Giant Man.
2. Dr. Strange vs. Legion
Dr. Strange is mildly annoyed by Legion's telekinesis, telepathy, and pyrokinesis. He even exorcises some of Legion's personalities.
3. Iron Fist vs. Nightcrawler
This fight would looks so cool as these guys stalk each other! Nightcrawler is lucky he can teleport. Nightcrawler.
4. Black Widow vs. Domino
Black Widow figures out Domino's tricks, and switches strategies to whatever works. Widow.
5. Thor vs. Gladiator
Thor's powers aren't based on his mind, and he has no self confidence issues. Thor.
6. Ms. Marvel vs. Mimic
Ms. Marvel, If worse comes to worst Ms. Marvel absorbs the energy of a star until she overloads Mimic.
7. Hercules vs. Namor
I think Namor for some reason, he seems nastier, and he can fly.
8. Vision vs. M
hmmmm, Vision ? M? I think Vision because he has saved the Avengers bacon many times. A phased fist to M's chest would have to be higher density than usual but would still work.
9. Sersi vs. Phoenix
I think Sersi has something planned ... some way to finess this. Sersi.
10. Spiderman vs. Northstar
Spiderman. Spiderman was really hard to match up in this tournament, I mean he's a street level fighter but he's also beat down the Fire Lord, a herald of Galactus.
11. Quasar vs. Havok
Quasar seems to be losing in a battle of the blasts ... until his light snakes around and pops Havok on the head.
12. Crystal vs. Polaris
They seem to be evenly matched. Polaris throws some metal at Crystal, Crystal blocks it with the earth. They trade fire and magnetic bolts. and then Polaris collapses from lack of oxygen. The shy Crystal comes up with something when her back's against the wall.

1. Giant Man vs. Cannonball Growing AND shrinking AND whatever Pym particles do seems like an impressive array of powers. I think Giant Man might win this one. 2. Dr. Strange vs. Legion Magic may be a deus ex machina power-set but it's one that makes sense to me. I think a character like Dr Strange would be pretty unbeatable until he came up against someone designed to take him out. The Sorcerer. 3. Iron Fist vs. Nightcrawler Teleportation is one of my favourite powers but I guess it only gets you so far when you're fighting a specialist fighter. I'll give this one to Iron Fist. 4. Black Widow vs. Domino Luck only gets you so far in life. You need to work hard to take care of the rest. And Black Widow seems like a very hard worker. Her. 5. Thor vs. Gladiator Well, Superman beat Thor in the JLA/Avengers book. But I think Thor might beat this cheap Marvel knock-off. So, him. 6. Ms. Marvel vs. Mimic I'm not quite sure what Ms Marvel does other than rock a sash, and Mimic seems pretty powerful, but I'm sure she got to her position as Marvel's #1 femme (isn't she? I'm having trouble thinking of a Wonder Woman level heroine at Marvel?) somehow - so I'll give this one to her. 7. Hercules vs. Namor Ooooh. I like both of these characters and this seems like a tough/close fight. I'll say Hercules' godly strength gives him the edge. 8. Vision vs. M If M is as powerful as Supergirl I'll say she should win this one. 9. Sersi vs. Phoenix From what little I know of the character, Phoenix seems like she'd be too powerful for most of her opponents here. So I'll say her. 10. Spiderman vs. Northstar Echoing what I said about Spiderman in the last round, I'll give this one to Northstar. 11. Quasar vs. Havok Quasar seems like he'd be pretty powerful so I'll give this one to him. 12. Crystal vs. Polaris Hmmm. Now that I know what Crystal does, I like her even more. I kinda like Polaris too, but I think controlling four elements trumps controlling one element - so I'll give this to the gal with the cool hair thing and rockin' yellow costume (not enough super-heroes wear yellow IMO).

1. Cannonball. I think back to Sam taking on Gladiator of all people single-handedly and winning. While Pym has his smarts and size versatility on his side, his 'Giant-Man' personna couldn't hurt a 'blasting' Sam and his 'Ant-Man' personna may get too rattled in Sam's rocket brain before he could do anything. Of course then maybe Hank revives inside Sam's brain hours later and ... okay, thinking too hard. 2. Dr. Strange. A good illusion will take the delusional Legion to the wayside. 3. Iron Fist. 4. Domino. As long as she stays in motion, luck will win out with her against almost any opponent. 5. Thor. 6. Ms. Marvel. 7. Hercules. 8. Vision. Like others have said, not having a human brain and having density powers gives him an edge over M. 9. Phoenix, who ends up becoming Dark Phoenix to beat Sersi. Yay ...oh. 10. Northstar, though barely. I think speed and dazzling lights can trump his spider-sense. 11. Quasar, due to raw power. 12. Crystal, ditto.

Ms. Marvel is looking more and more like the Wonder Woman of the MU. Soon to be "Captain Marvel" IIRC. Which I think is great ... she'll be losing the sash and the swimsuit in favor of a more militaristic look. She (as Set put it, IIRC) is a flying brick with power blasts ... but also has been shown to absorb and emit large amounts of energy, and also could fly through space unaided ... but this was reduced a few years ago but ... seems to be gradually coming back. Also, she used to have a danger sense but i haven't seen it used in a long time. She's also got lots of military/spy training which seems to get forgotten because she's a flying brick.

She's not losing the sash actually ... sorry ... ... but she is losing her boots high enough just to show her ass crack costume.

Flying brick + energy + military powers = potentially a step above WW, who relies on the lasso and deflecting things via bracelets for long-range offense. Don't get me wrong though, I still love WW!
PS I hate Carol's new look. I found the previous one perfect for her. The new one... I especially dislike the hair.

Same here. I find it kind of silly. I could have accepted her costume if they'd kept her old hairdo.
The old costume looked feminine yet powerful. This one, with the hair, just looks silly to me.

Well, what apparently happened was it was just the short hair, but when they showed it to fans, there was a backlash about it. So Marvel went back and added back in the rest of the hair, albeit as a ponytail because it was the only way to add it to this particular drawing.
So: it was going to be short hair, but fans said they hate it, so now its long hair again.

1. Giant Man vs. Cannonball Pym cannot punch or shrink his way past Sam's impenetrable (inPymapable?) blast field fast enough to take the 'New' Mutant down, and a series of powerful meteor-like impacts leave him too staggered to formulate a more effective strategy. The bigger they are, indeed, the harder they fall!
2. Dr. Strange vs. Legion Legion telepathically assaults the Sorcerer Supreme, who rips the pair of them out to the astral plane, while protecting his body from the pyrokinetic flames called up by Xavier's son with the Seraphim's Shields. At first, Legion has the advantage, switching from power to power, gaining psychic strength from his multiple personalities and making for a difficult astral 'target,' but his fractured psyche is no match for this dimension's eminent magus, and the only question left on Stephen Strange's mind is whether or not to cure him, or leave him in this fractured state, while he's cradling the unconscious mind(s) of the stricken mutant.
3. Iron Fist vs. Nightcrawler Nightcrawler uses his patented round-robin, striking from all angles with his teleportation, and manages to daze Iron Fist with his lightning assault, before grabbing the martial artist and teleporting him a dozen feet straight up, hoping to finish him off with disorientation and a brief fall. Iron Fist manages to land passably well, with only a spained ankle, disorientation or no disorientation, and calls upon the lesser-known healing properties of the Iron Fist to recover, catching an overconfident Kurt in the midst of his next teleportational flurry of blows, closing his eyes and reaching out with his senses as he feigns being incapacitated by the fall, clobbering the mutant as he emerges from his dimensional rift, and laying him low with a single iron blow.
4. Black Widow vs. Domino Two hard, cold and pragmatic women, trained in covert operations and sneak attacks, vanish into the urban jungle, each seeking the other. The Black Widow's five (six?) decades of experience fall to the unpredictable luck powers of Domino.
5. Thor vs. Gladiator A clash of modern day titans ensues, but, for all his godly might, Thor fails to adapt to the speed that Gladiator brings to bear. He is nearly beaten in the first seconds of the clash, before he can muster his elemental fury, and staggers from the wreckage as Gladiator gloats. A seed of doubt is planted, and Gladiator spends the rest of the fight futiley trying to regain ground, and his faltering confidence saps his seemingly invincible might. In the end, still ragged from the near-loss at the fight's start, Thor stands victor.
6. Ms. Marvel vs. Mimic Carol attempts a desperate sucker-punch, to lay Calvin out before he can mimic her power, but is not fast enough. Her own powers combine with those of the Beast, Iceman, Cyclops and Marvel Girl, leave her little chance to overcome the mutant Mimic, who uses the strength and endurance of the Beast, as well as a thick coating of ice-armor, combined with Ms. Marvel's own superhuman resilience, to withstand her strongest blow, and retaliates with an optic blast that only serves to push her back, and give her more energy to use against him. He shifts tactics and resumes hand to hand combat, and too late she realizes that he is also draining the heat from her with Iceman's powers, leaving her suffering from hypothermia as he finishes her off with a double-fisted hammerblow.
7. Hercules vs. Namor Namor's arrogance proves his undoing, as he descends from the sky to meet the Olympian god of strength in hand to hand combat. While they are evenly matched, Hercules refuses to allow the Atlantean victory, and drives the two of them deep into the Earth's mantle with powerful blows, knowing that the molten magma will sap Namor of strength, leaving the victory in his hands. As consciousness fades, the Avenging Son thinks to himself, 'I should have thrown him into the middle of the Atlantic...'
8. Vision vs. M M's telepathic shenanigans prove no match for the Vision's synthezoid mental patterns, and his intangibility frustrates her attempts to bring her strength to bear. A blast of solar energy ends her frustration, as the Vision decisively ends their battle.
9. Sersi vs. Phoenix "If we go all out, we'll destroy this city." Phoenix notes. Sersi nods agreement, and holds out her fist. Jean smiles and does likewise, shaking her hand three times and ending on Scissors. Sersi has chosen Paper, and frowns. "Best two out of three?"
10. Spiderman vs. Northstar It's all his spider-senses and superhuman agility can do to keep Peter from getting clobbered by Jean-Paul's super-sonic flyby attacks, and he throws webbing desperately in all directions, knowing that the speedster can't risk hitting even a thin strand at such speed without being messily dismembered. Northstar floats above this dangerous zone and ponders his options, trying to find a safe route to the spider, in the center of his web. He surges forward and stops suddenly, hurling the wall-crawler back with a thunderous sonic boom of displaced air, leaving the Spider-Man momentarily tangled up in his own webbing, only to have dozens of strands of webbing near him snap back from the shockwave and entangle him as well! Spider-Man carefully uses spider-strength to peel himself free, while Northstar remains hopelessly ensnared, a victim of his own cleverness.
11. Quasar vs. Havok Quasar's hard-light shields barely block the awesome cosmic power of Havok, and attempts to contain the mutant in a bubble of solid force and light, which Alex promptly shatters his way out of. Wendell instead focuses his energy into the tightest shield possible, while causing light tendrils to come at Havok from behind, slaming into him and knocking the breath from him as they wrap around him and begin squeezing him. Another omnidirection blast of mutant's seemingly inexhaustible energy, and Quasar's light constructs are again shattered like glass, as Havok proceeds to blast him out of the sky.
12. Crystal vs. Polaris A gust of hurricane force wind barely turns aside the barrage of magnetically-propelled debris that threatens to overwhelm the Inhuman royalty. Twisting the winds into a tornado, unable to match Polaris' raw magnetic might, Crystal turns the force of the storm of steel and iron sideways, inching ever closer. She knows that she has to end this, and shifts a fraction of her concentration to cause the air around Lorna Dane to erupt into intense flames, weakening her magnetic powers, and breaking her concentration. Crystal hurls herself into the air, with the negative pressure of her impromptu tornado, allowing it to collapse as she does, so that tons of metal slam into the place she was standing, and as she descends on a zephyr, she causes earth and stone to rise up in dozens of tiny missiles, to stun and batter the mistress of magnetism, whose heat-weakened magnetic defenses prove no match for the non-metallic projectiles.

VERY INTERESTING ROUND !!!!
Results are:
Giant Man beats Cannonball Dr. Strange DESTROYS Legion !! 6 to 0
THE FIRST OF TWO TIES! Iron Fist vs. Nightcrawler
Black Widow beats Domino Thor RUINS Gladiator !! 6 to 0 Ms. Marvel spanks Domino 5 to 1 Hercules defeats Namor Vision takes out M 5 votes to 1 poor Sersi is one of the only losing Avengers and big. Pheonix 5 to 1
TIE NUMBER TWO Spider Man and Northstar
Quasar beats Havok and ... Crystal totally tears Polaris up. 6 to 0.
AVENGERS DOMINATE ROUND 3.
Avengers 9 X-Men 1
2 TIES T.B.D.
So with a tie breaker the X-Men can only save face, otherwise with 2 outta 3 rounds the AVENGERS take it.
so sad X-Men.

I vote X-Men twice, Northstar and Nightcrawler are just too fast, and Nightcrawler has a sword. Spiderman's danger sense can't coordinate against multiple teleports.
X-Men x 2!

Spider-Man vs. Nightcrawler Nightcrawler is fast, and sneaky, but Spider-Man's danger sense is precognitive, and he can move fast enough to dodge bullets. Dodging someone who doesn't have superhuman agility isn't even a contest, and Nightcrawler eats a facefull of fist.
Iron Fist vs. Northstar Northstar's not an idiot, he knows better than to get up close with a groundbound martial arts master, and instead flies by Danny Rand at several times the speed of sound, sending the kung fu billionaire playboy hurtling into the nearest building. Resisting the temptation to finish him off with his patented 'hundred punches in a second' technique, Jean-Paul circles around and ends the fight with a second sonic boom, just to be sure.

There was a reason I didn't put Spiderman and Nightcrawler together in the beginning ....
I'll call it ... Spiderman and Northstar
This ends the finale round of Avengers vs. X-Men ...
AVENGERS 10 X-MEN 2
and with 2 rounds to the Avengers ... the Avengers have soundly beat the X-Men.
THANKS everyone for playing! It was fun!

The Avengers, by dint of being such iconic and developed characters (and cherry picking various other iconics from other teams, like Dr. Strange, Spider-Man and the Thing) I think have it all over the X-Men.
A different sort of match-up, between the Young Avengers and the New Mutants, would be very different, as the New Mutants have had decades of development over the Young Avengers, and even formerly hapless characters like Cypher have gone on to become major butt-kickers, while the Young Avengers biggest gun is Wiccan, whose powers aren't as reliable, and nature isn't as ruthless, as the New Mutant's resident mage, Magick.
Same for the New X-Men vs. the Avengers Academy kids. Hellion, X-23, Elixir, Rockslide, Dust, etc. may well rout Reptil, Mettle, Stryker, Hazmat, Finesse, etc.
