What were the three ingredients of the shield spell - how were they described, and what did Mysa (with some prodding from Chuck Taine) use to satisfy those descriptions?

When was it used, exactly?

During a fight against the Khunds in the TMK era

I'm too lazy to look this up, so here's what I remember.

She needed a piece of the heavens, or something like that. She ended up using snow. She also needed the blood of a dead beast, which was taken from the blood of a fallen academy student.

This all happened when they were on Xolnar and the Khunds attacked.

Well, you got two right, so I'll just fill in the rest rather than waste time waiting for someone else to give the third and then tell them anyway that the next question is yours.

The other thing she needed was a "demon's repast", for which they used Pluridium, which was fuel for the Khund ships.

Over the years, several characters have appeared in Legion issues that have no business being there. That is, characters have appeared (mostly on whims by the artists) that really don't exist in the Legion's universe. I can think of several off the top of my head. Name them.

J'onn J'onzz at Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel's wedding
The Final Night issues where the stranded Legionnaires mingle with the 20th century heroes
Green Lantern/Kyle Rayner and the Enchantress (as holo images)

I'm not being clear...I am talking about seeing characters who don't exist in the DC universe at all.

I recall Spider-Man and Garfield appearing in the crowd scene at the end of LSH # 300.

And there was Tars Tarkas from Edgar Rice Burroughs' "John Carter Warlord of Mars" series at Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel's wedding in Superboy # 200.

Any others you're looking for? Over the years, there have been quite a few Easter Eggs. I think Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect from the Hitchhiker's Guide were in an early post-ZH issue of Legionnaires.

So that's who Tars Tarkas was - i wanted to find out a month or two back, but no-one could help me..

Damn! I forgot to add the little girl from LEGIONNAIRES 70 who looked a lot like Misty from the "Pokemon" cartoon...

And there was a silhouette of Galactus among the Daxamites in the Great Darkness Saga (also one of the Daxamites had a costume similar to Thor's)

Various members of the Legion creative teams have made appearances as well (Levitz in particular comes to mind).

I remember the creators' appearances, but had forgotten about Galactus. The Thor costume is a new one on me - I'll have to check that out.

In the Legionnaires Elseworlds, who discovered the substance used for Legion flight rings...and what familiar substance was it?

Good enough. Rokk was just a hireling of R. J. Brande, but he was indeed one of the two who managed to extract Nh metal from the ruins of Thanagar...and slip it in the fingers of Legionnaires to come.

I can think of at least 4 Legion homeworlds which have been ruled by female heads of government. One of those worlds has had at least three female rulers. Name these four Legion homeworlds and their six female rulers.

I can only come up with two and three:

Orando - Queen Projectra
Earth - Marte Allon, Jeanne Chu, Tayla Wellington
