OK, new game time. It's a simple set up but I might whitter a bit explaining it...
Similar to the old 'Desert Island Discs' idea here, but the premis is that one person posts a category of which you can only have three for the rest of your life. So three female recording artists or three comic artists or three comics characters or three fiction writers and so on. They then give their three of said category. The next person has to give their three of the first category then name another category and their three picks for that. And so on and so forth so that each post gets longer and longer as there are more categories added. Which of course means that you can reply with a new category even if you've already posted so that you can catch up with everyone else's categories too. Does that make sense?
OK, so lets start with Female Recording Artists. You can have their entire back catalogue (including any recordings with bands or as 'guest' vocalists) and any new stuff in the future but you can't have any music from any other female artist ever again.
My three:
1) Joni Mitchell. Because if I couldn't listen to her then I'd miss her more than anyone else.
2) Annie Lennox (and The Eurythmics and Tourists too). Because with Annie you get the rock stuff with the bands and the more mellow stuff as a solo artist.
3) Ute Lemper. Because I need someone a bit left field, plus she does the more classical side of singing as well which I'd want.

My three:
1) Nancy Wilson. This will cover all of Heart, her solo stuff and Anne's work as well.
2) Amy Lee. Evanescence is still my favorite band and its all due to Amy's amazing voice.
3) Tori Amos. Always one of my favorite female artists and I don't think I could live without her.
Next category. Beverages. Water does not need to be included since it is an essential part of most.
1) Tetley Tea. Either warm, or even better, iced, Tetley is my favorite drink of choice.
2) Dr. Pepper. My soda of choice, preferably with lemon.
3) Milk. Although I've gotten to a point in my life where it doesn't agree with me anymore I still love having a nice cold glass of milk.

Cool game!
Female Recording Artists:
1. Carol King, because her song writing makes me feel like I’ve known her my whole life. 2. Diana Ross, because I find her voice to be incredibly soothing in a way I can’t quite explain. 3. Gwen Stefani, because she has a great voice, a real attitude to her voice and her style is so punk and in your face, but feminine at the same time.
Favorite Beverages (I’ll have to say currently, since I guess it changes):
1. Coffee. I can’t live without coffee, it is my one true addiction, and I still average about three to four cups a day. 2. Beer, although I prefer darker imported ones. My favorite is currently Harpoon IPA, although it’s my goal to try all types of IPA’s in the future! There is nothing like a cold beer when you’re in the mood for one, whether at the end of a long day or the beginning of a long night. 3. Gatorade. For some reason, I can’t get enough of Gatorade, no matter what flavor it is. I freaking love that stuff!
And my turn:
Favorite Physical Activities to do, whether sports, walks with your significant other, dancing, etc., but something physical that is something you really enjoy.
1. Playing hockey/roller-blading. After playing my whole childhood, this still gives me a thrill that nothing else quite matches. I miss it beyond belief, although it leaves me completely exhausted now when I get the chance to do it. 2. Hiking. I’ve really gotten into hiking in the last few summer, especially this last one. I find it to be one the most mind-easing and relaxing things to do. 3. Running. Actually, it’s not so much running I like, since I hate the idea of actually running…it’s the feeling I get when I’m about to complete a run. The adrenaline and sense of accomplishment can be incredibly intense when you’re in the right frame of mind. I only wish I could run outdoors here in the winter without catching a cold.

2. A Million Little Pieces by James Frey - a book about accepting what you have done and who you are
3. The Saturdays by Elizabeth Enright - yes it is a kids book, but I liked the theme of independent, intelligent, responsible to a degree kids and the grownups who knew when to let go but knew when to rein them in.

Favourite Beverages 1) Tea. I couldn't live without tea. 2) Wine. More probably red wine actually, but I do like white as well. 3) Milk. Not completely cold, but a little chilled. I've been drinking a lot more recently and I love it. Physical Activity. 1) Sex. Although I don't have a high sex drive I still enjoy it a *lot* 2) Going out and having a good old boogy. I don't drink alcohol so much any more when we go out (it just puts me to sleep) but I still enjoy going to a club and having a good old dance. Yay! 3) Swimming. It's the closest thing I get to exercise, but I enjoy it so that's alright. Favourite Books. 1) Good Omens by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett. Probably one of the only books that I have re-read more times than I have fingers on my hands. And every time I love it more. 2) Once On A Time by A A Milne. I'm not even sure if it's in print any more, but if you like a good fairy story that isn't just for children then find a copy because it's great. And very, very funny. 3) The Gormenghast Trilogy. OK, so I'm cheating by having a book that is actually three books but you can buy it in a collected edition now so I'm counting it as one. It's one of the best flights of fantasy ever. It's not to everyone's taste, and is quite hard going, but if it gets hold of you then it stays in your head for ever. (I'm assuming we're just talking about fiction with books, otherwise 'Anatomy For The Artist' would be one of the three just because it's an invaluable resource for my drawing). Favourite DVDs Now are we talking specifically stuff that has come out as DVDs here or just favourite films? I shall assume we're referring to DVDs specifically just so that films can be a later choice and I can add another three. 1) Lilo & Stitch. One of my fave films ever anyway, but the DVD is worth it just for the extras (including the trailers which make me cry laughing) 2) Moulin Rouge. A great film, a great musical and the 2 disc DVD set has some great extras as well. 3) I'm gonna cheat and have the Marilyn Monroe Diamond collection. OK so it's actually nine or ten films plus a documentary spread over ten or eleven discs, but it is sold as one set. If'n I'm not allowed that though I'd have Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on it's own. And for the next category lets have Comfort foods 1) ice-cream. I almost don't care what flavour, but if I'm feeling crappy I make some ice-cream and then I'm happy again. 2) Mashed potato. With lots of butter and pepper. Preferably with sausages or fish fingers, but even just on it's own there's very little more comforting that good mashed potato. 3) Apples. I love apples. They're not what most people would consider comfort food, but for some reason they are for me.

Female Recording Artists:
1) Shania Twain. Her slow songs tug my heart-strings, and her fast ones send my toes into a tapping frenzy. To sum up, she KICKS ASS. 2) Lara Fabian. Most beautiful voice I've ever heard. 3) Laura Branigan. So many of my nostalgic teenage favorites were hers.
Beverages:
1) Diet Coke. I practically live on the stuff. 2) Hot Chocolate. Nothing better for a winter warm-up. 3) Coffee, in case I need a wake-up. Kona coffee is especially tasty.
Physical Activity (other than sex, because I don't want to see the same answer at the top of everyone's list):
1) Baseball. My favorite sport. 2) Bicycling. My favorite form of exercise. 3) Nuzzling a baby's fuzzy little head.
Books:
1) The Hitchhiker's series by Douglas Adams. If I can't choose full sets, I'll choose The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. 2) The Kinsey Millhone series by Sue Grafton. If I can't choose full sets, I'll choose G is for Gumshoe. 3) The Encyclopedias of Monsters, Ghosts, the Strange and Unsolved Crimes by Daniel Cohen. If I can't choose full sets, I'll choose the Uncolved Crimes one.
DVDs:
1) Any Futurama DVD. 2) South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. 3) Tomorrow Never Dies.
Comfort Foods:
1) Chicken soup. Come on, is there anything more comforting than that? 2) Ice Cream. Specifically, Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk. 3) Chinese Pepper Steak.
Now, my category - Comic Strips:
1) The Far Side. Gary Larson was in a class by himself. 2) Monty (formerly Robotman). The wackiest cast of characters and the wackiest situations, all very attuned to my geek sense of humor. Very reminiscent of early Dilbert, before Dilbert became a business strip. 3) Dilbert. Even though the initial wackiness (pun wars, Scrabble, dinosaurs hiding behind the couch wearing tennis shoes) is gone, he still makes me laugh pretty much every morning.
