Here's the game: Given two Legion characters on a specific setting, tell us who'd win in a fair fight, and why.

Sound's simple, right? But here are the rules:

Twist, the First: No character may win two fights in a row. Thus, if I have Mon-El defeat Superboy and give you Porcupine Pete, on Medicus One, you must give us a plausible way in which Pete emerges triumphant over Mon-El in that setting.

Twist, the Second: Once he or she loses, no character may fight again. However, all realities are open to use. If no reality is cited, we assume the original/current versions. For the purposes of this game, the 5YG/TMK timeline through Zero Hour is considered a separate realiity. Also, to be used, a character must have appeared on panel or in the Mayfair Sourcebooks. Thus, if Ze Tongue has already been used, you can't use "Ze Threeboot Tongue."

Twist, the Third: No SPECIFIC setting may be employed twice. Note: Saying "Earth" does not invalidate "Metroplois," nor does "Metroplois" invalidate "Metroplis Spaceport." However, a setting must have appeared on panel, or otherwise had some specific reference made to it, in some Legion comic. So, for example, you can't say, "The Metropolis Spaceport Men's Room, third stall from the left." Note also: All realities are open here as well, If "Earth" has been used, you can pick "Threeboot Earth." However, as with combatants, the setting must have appeared or been mentioned. Thus, "Threeboot Puppet Planetoid" is not an option.

A list of used combatants and settings will be periodically updated in the second post of this thread.

Ready, then? Here we go:

Mon-El vs. Superboy, on Daxam
Easy. Mon-El, being older and bigger than Superboy, simply overpowers him in the red sun setting where neither has any powers.

Next Up: Mon-El vs. Porcupine Pete, on Medicus One.

Having Pete win seems a little far fetched, but....

I'm going to add to the scenario a bit. MOn-el has been sent to Medicus One because he has contracted a rare Daxamite virus (gotten when he fought Superboy on Daxam). Mon-el, in a delirium, beings to wreck Medicus One. It is up to Porcupine Pete (there for his yearly physical) to detain Mon-el until the fever passes.

Pete first has some of his quills coated with a tranquilizer. He then gets a portable red sun ray projector (Medicus One has one just in case they need to operate on a visiting Daxamite) Pete, zaps Mon-el with the red sun rays and then fires his quills. Mon-el is knocked out.

Actually, I guess I didn't think this through. The way I envisioned it, Pete would advance and you'd pick one person to fight him, who must win. But ANYONE could beat Pete.

So, looks like the game would alternate one cheesy-easy scenario with one brain-twister.

hmmmmm . . . how to proceed?

Actually, I think it's workable as is. Most lesser-powered characters have at least one normally much more powerful character they can beat.

Pete, for example, is actually quite effective against basically any non-invulnerable character who needs to make physical contact with him to fight him. So, for example, he can give a rough time to most Durlans.

Plus, you can always handicap most uber-powerful characters with the environment, as you did with putting Supes and Mon on a red sun world.
