Yes, that's right. Our current batch of Legionnaires (minus Gear and plus Andromeda and Thunder because I need to even the sides) have had enough of domestic squabbles and girls revolting. Just WHICH gender is the best...the Legion gals or the Legion guys? This is the game where you get to help us find out and Future gets to badly spoof the Real World/Road Rules challenges as best he can! Remember the Adventure-era Computo story, where some weird globe made by Computo in the Clubhouse robbed everyone of their super-powers, biological or not? Well, it's been rebooted! All Legionnaires are left with their natural strength and inginuity to compete in these events! Every 5 days, we'll start a new round. Every round will consist of a challenge in a different location of the United Planets where the Legionnaires will compete in ranked events, where there can be a first, second, etc place winner. After I post the challenge, it's up to you, the viewers, to quite simply rank who you think would win this contest in what order. Remember they don't have powers! You'll make a list of the boys and then a list of the girls competing in each round, and place them in what order you think they'd finish their task. We'll be starting off with 14 Legionnaires on each team, so you'll rank them from first to fourteenth place. At the end of each round I'll award weighted points like KP's football game to each Legionnaire. If they were awarded first place in your list, they'll get 14 points. Last place, one point. The points Legionnaires receive from everyone's lists will be added together, and the guy and girl with the lowest score each round will be eliminated until there are only three boys and three girls remaining to compete in the big, final showdown to determine which gender is the best at the end of 'THE LEGION' series: GUYS or GIRLS? The boys competing will be: Cosmic Boy, Live Wire, Invisible Kid, Chameleon, Brainiac 5, Star Boy, Gates, Ultra Boy, M'Onel, Ferro, Karate Kid, Wildfire, and Timber. The girls: Saturn Girl, Apparition, Triad, XS, Spark, Andromeda, Kinetix (terrorform), Violet, Umbra, Sensor, Kid Quantum II, Thunder, Shikari, and Dreamer. I'll start the first round Sunday night. I want to wait and see if anyone has any questions, if the rules were clear, and make sure there would be a fan base for playing this!

Haha. We'll go ahead and make Kinetix non-Terrorform, since I'm having to retcon in Thunder anyway and am leaving out Gear and Superboy. You know, I like Drake's idea. It might be fun every round to have another little game going. Pick which members of the opposing teams hook-up, bicker, break-up, and what-not.  I'll see what I can work in.

Whoops. I miscounted my Legion guys (and forgot the 'Wolf' in Timber Wolf). Both teams balanced? Good. Alright, here we go....
ROUND 1
LOCATION: The mother ocean of Hykraius!
OBJECTIVE: There are twenty-eight small logs/platforms off the shore of the world's only dry land island. These logs are barely big enough for someone to stand on. So, you guessed it, all Legionnaires without the aide of their powers or flight rings must balance on these logs over the methane water to see who can stay up the longest. Special platforms have been made for Sensor and Gates, who both can still barely fit. Whichever guy and gal falls first, receives the lowest rank, with the guy and girl lasting the longest taking first.
The Male Contenders: Cosmic Boy, Live Wire, Invisible Kid, Chameleon, Brainiac 5, Star Boy, Gates, Ultra Boy, M'Onel, Ferro, Karate Kid, Wildfire, Gear, and Timber Wolf.
The Female Contenders: Saturn Girl, Apparition, Triad, XS, Spark, Andromeda, Kinetix, Violet, Umbra, Sensor, Kid Quantum II, Thunder, Shikari, and Dreamer.
So, rank the Legion gals and then the Legion guys from who you think will last the longest to whom won't last long at all. Round 1 will end on Thursday, September 9th.

KGZ, the ranking is for what order you think people would last in the competition posted for Round 1. No ranking favorites in this game, I'm afraid. If it were about favorites, XS would definitely be a lot higher on my list, but as it stands I don't think she has the patience/balance for the mission at hand.

ROUND 2
LOCATION: The Louvre in the 31st century; Earth
OBJECTIVE: Famous art critics from around the UP have assembled at the Louvre as judges for the Legion's next assignment! Using whatever media they wish to use provided by the museum and local art school-a-trons, all Legionnaires have one-hour to paint/draw/sculpt a self-portrait. The portraits will then be judged by the panel of art critics and first place given to one male and one female, second given to one male & female, and so on & so forth. Ferro is going to be upset he missed this one!
The Female Contenders: Saturn Girl, Apparition, Triad, Spark, Andromeda, Kinetix, Violet, Umbra, Sensor, Kid Quantum II, Thunder, Shikari, and Dreamer.

Ladies....(I'll actually try to justify my rankings here:)
01. Violet - still waters run deep and I can imagine her surprising people by the depth of her artistic ability and willingness to be honest.
02. Umbra - dark, moody art always strikes a chord and she's used to having to create shadow-forms
03. Triad - Carggites must have a strong enough sense of self to offer an insightful self-portrait
04. Spark - I imagine the beauty of her farmland home will come shining through in hers.
05. Dreamer - Anyone in touch with their dreams and dream imagery will doubtless come up with something interesting.
06. Apparition - I see her as technically more adept and having a good eye which will give her high standings.
07. Kinetix - she'd do something pretty, but lacking depth
08. Sensor - has some skills because of her powers, but doesn't know her new self enough to give us something interesting
09. Thunder
10. Kid Quantum II
11. Saturn Girl - too emotionally closed off from herself to offer an insightful or interesting portrait
12. Shikari - lack of practice
13. Andromeda - lack of practice and appreciation for the arts.
& Gentlemen...
01. Chameleon - knows himself well and is used to reshaping his own body so scupture would be a natural
02. M'Onel - sould of a wanderer, all those years and wisdom and depth will provide a fascinating portrait
03. Karate Kid - a great martial artist is a great artist - his soul will shine through in almost any action he takes, especially art.
04. Live Wire - same with Ayla
05. Ultra Boy - his rough upbringing coupled with his mellowing and softening with Tinya and Cub have brought depth and honesty to Jo that's been waiting to get out having been unexpressed on Rimbor.
06. Wildfire - angsty art always strikes a chord.
07. Invisible Kid - just cuz he seems good at everything, he'll do well here.
08. Gates - he's a thinker and feels things deeply. He'd be just as expressive in his art.
I see a drop-off starting here with the rest due to lack of experience with art and expressing themselves and their vulnerability in general. The first three being more physical than artistic the latter two, too technical and not self-reflective.

Well, that was interesting. I first thought these ranking would seem kinda random, but I managed to find some justification for the rankings based on what I (think) I know about them (if it turns out one of them has been shown to have artistic ability and I missed it, I might have to re-evaluate before the round is over).

Drake, I love your explanations! When we have a few less Legionnaires in a few rounds I'll probably try my hand at rationalizing the choices as well. You did an excellent job. Believe it or not, on the ladies I actually ranked Triad and Andromeda fairly high because I recall them drawing as kids in flashbacks. That doesn't mean they have much talent now, but I'll take that as a nod they potentially could. For the guys, I went with Gear because of his computer brain probably being able to map out something beautiful, and the rest I figured as being artistic as wanderers, balanced people, etc. I also figure Star Boy (ever the Dungeon & Dragons fan) surely doodled a bit as a kid looking up to such fantasy. I forgot about how musical/talented Shady traditionally has been, preboot. I may edit my ranking of Umbra to reflect that if I feel real guilty later. Thanks to Bevis, Vee, and Drake for participating this round. I promise I'll stop interrupting my own game now.

LOCATION: Yod University of Colu
OBJECTIVE: Whip out your thinking caps, Legionnaires! All contenders are situated in a 31st century classroom in the prostegious Yod University on Colu. They will be competing againt each other in the galaxy's most unusual spelling bee! All members will stay in the game as long as they spell their given word correctly. Misspell it and they're out! The Legionnaire for both genders who stays in the longest, thus spelling all their words correctly, shall win first place!
The Male Contenders: Cosmic Boy, Live Wire, Invisible Kid, Chameleon, Brainiac 5, Star Boy, Gates, Ultra Boy, M'Onel, Karate Kid, Gear, and Timber Wolf.
The Female Contenders: Saturn Girl, Apparition, Triad, Spark, Kinetix, Violet, Umbra, Sensor, Kid Quantum II, Thunder, Shikari, and Dreamer.
ALSO: Something else else new to the game. It isn't Battle of the Sexes drama without hook-ups, break-ups, and domestic squablles! So this round, pick two numbers between one and twelve. The boy & girl who are ranked at the average of everyone's two seperate numbers will be our surprise new couple! For example: if everyone selects between 4-6 and 7-9, then whichever hero is ranked 5 (for the boys) and 8 (for the girls) will be our couple! No questions asked, even if they're dating someone else! Remember, boys first this round, ladies second. We'll switch next round.
So, rank the Legion guys and then the Legion gals from who you think is a flawless speller to who can't comprehend spelling at all! I'm shortening the rounds by a day, so now Round 3 will end on Thursday, September 16th.

ROUND 4
LOCATION: Underground tunnels of Tharn
OBJECTIVE: A giant ice sculpture has been erected in the shape of the Legion logo. The Legionnaires, still without their powers and now without the aid of a transuit, all must place a hand or two on the freezing ice sculpture. All Legionnaires must keep at least one hand in-contact with the painfully cold object for as long as they can. To make matters worse, the intense heat from outside is causing the statue to slowly melt and become increasingly moist and slick. Should they let go or their touch on the statue slip for even a moment, they're out!
The Female Contenders: Saturn Girl, Apparition, Triad, Spark, Kinetix, Violet, Umbra, Sensor, Kid Quantum II, Shikari, and Dreamer.
The Male Contenders: Cosmic Boy, Live Wire, Invisible Kid, Chameleon, Brainiac 5, Star Boy, Gates, Ultra Boy, M'Onel, Karate Kid, and Gear.
Also, Cham isn't too happy with Spark's new fling! The tension from his complaining during the mission causes a verbal spat between him and one of the Legion femmes...and one of the guys is about ready to punch his lights out! Pick two numbers, one to select the femme and the other the male, so we can find out who is getting on Reep's bad side!
So, rank the Legion gals and then the Legion guys from who you think can withstand touching the bitter cold the longest to who won't last long at all! Round 4 will end on Sunday, September 19th.

Hmm. Thinking about this one a bit... right, the girls 1) Umbra (just because of sheer bloody mindedness, but also because of her training) 2) Dreamer (again, because of her training) 3) Shikari (I just think she's less likely to feel the cold than the 'human' girls) 4) Saturn Girl 5) Triad 6) Kinetix 7) Spark 8) Apparition 9) Kid Quantum II 10) Violet 11) Sensor (even in her new form i think chances are she's more prone to the effects of heat/cold than the others). and the boys: 1) Karate Kid (again, the training. Not having inherent powers seems to be a big advantage for Val) 2) Gear (I dunno, being partially non-organic might be to his disadvantage here but it might be a winner for him too) 3) M'onel 4) Ultra Boy (both Jo and M'on get to be high up for being the muscle boys and probably having the stamina even without powers) 5) Star Boy 6) Cosmic Boy 7) Live Wire 8) Invisible Kid 9) Chameleon 10) Braniac 5 (he just doesn't have the strength) 11) Gates (he's a bug. He'd either die or go into hibernation. Neither is really going to help him in this event. )

They have one hour to complete a test with 100 multiple-choice questions over Legion trivia. There's some public knowledge on there...and someone must have leaked out a few secret tidbits! The Legionnaire with the highest score will receive first place!

Assuming that this is all about the reboot Legion, which would make it more fair for the reboot only kids:
Gals:
1. Triad (has been with the team for a long time and strikes me as having a great memory and observational skills)
2. Apparition (ditto)
3. Saturn Girl (ditto)
4. Kid Quantum II (a relative newbie but as Legion leader I'm sure she studied up on it)
5. Violet (pretty observant and has also been with the team a long time)
6. Kinetix (has seniority too and she's someone who'd know a lot about her friends)
7. Spark (for pretty much the same reasons)
8. Dreamer (been around the Legion long enough to know a lot)
9. Umbra (not the friendliest but pretty observant)
10. Shikari (new and not as used to Interlac and her friends)
Guys:
1. Cosmic Boy (mister history buff himself)
2. Invisible Kid (seniority plus observational skills)
3. Gear (would have accessed a lot of data in his time on LW)
4. Chameleon (great observational skills)
5. Brainiac 5 (while not as observant he's definitely smart enough)

8. M'Onel (not been around as much or as long but plenty observant)

This is going to be hard because I can remember so many different things that they should cancel each other out. So the pack may be hard to sort out. For instance, from my memory, don't think that anyone from Gates and Star Boy on knows who M'Onel is. So that's one. So here goes.
I feel like more of the girls probably know the answers. I think they pay attention more at debriefings.
1. Saturn Girl (seniority + telepathy (+ constant self-appointed temporary leader) = most knowledge. Plus she doesn't need her telepathy now to win. I'm betting she's already gleaned a lot of knowledge. In fact, she SHOULD scan teammates after missions to get a more accurate account of the events for the records. No "fog of war" in the Legion (take that Science Police thugs!))
2. Triad (Can you say Espionage Squad?)
3. Violet (ditto)
4. Apparition (ditto)
5. Kinetix (one thing we always see Zoe doing is reading and keeping detailed logs.
6. Spark
7. Kid Quantum II
8. Dreamer (I'm sorry, even with her flashes before she joined the team, I can only put her this far up)
9. Umbra
10. Shikari
(honorary #1: Chuck Taine... and he's blackmailing everyone!)
1. Cosmic Boy

4. Brainiac 5 (doesn't have his powers in this test, otherwise he'd probably guess everything correctly using deductive reasoning)
5. M'Onel (Didn't join as soon, but... HE WAS IN THE PHANTOM ZONE -- he saw everything! He spends a lot of time in space, but it's easy to catch up on the logs with super speed.

9. Karate Kid (This is one where Val isn't really at an advantage. Although I'm sure Andy filled him in on some stuff.)

This Christmas when I go back home, I plan on making a sequel to my 'Adventure Era Appearance Count' thread by tallying up every on-panel appearance by the postboot team. If I'm lucky I should spend all break doing it and still leave five minutes to open Christmas cards!

OBJECTIVE: Hope your uniforms are neatly pressed, Legionnaires. Today, all heroes will be brushing up their people skills as they become solicitors for McCauley Industries selling their robo-vacuum system to the domesticated Winath! Our Legionnaires have to be confident, possess good speaking skills, and boast the go-getter attitude to not take no for an answer. Charisma is a plus, but so is perseverance! The Legion lady and gentlemen with the highest number of sales will take first.

LOCATION: The rail-highways of Metropolis
OBJECTIVE: It's a race! Each Legionnaire gets taken to the rail-highway docking station in Metropolis. They find the transport tubes sealed off and 16 beautiful cruisers with each Legionnaire's name on one awaiting the team. Simple enough, each Legionnaire has their own grav-cruiser to race in a three mile dash for a finish line. With civilians cleared out, it's up to whoever has the best speed and handling of their cars to win in the galaxy's grooviest drag race! The lads will race first, then the lasses.
The Male Contenders: Cosmic Boy, Live Wire, Invisible Kid, Chameleon, Brainiac 5, M'Onel, Karate Kid, and Gear.
The Female Contenders: Saturn Girl, Apparition, Triad, Spark, Kinetix, Violet, Umbra, and Dreamer.
Also! With Kid Q and Star Boy gone, Cosmic Boy and Dreamer have picked up some flirtatious vibes from other Legionnaires. Pick two numbers between 1 & 8, one for the gents and one for the ladies, so we can average out just WHO Cos and Dreamer are already becoming more buddy-buddy with!
Double also! To make things interesting and make it possible to change ranks still, points have DOUBLED. First will now receive 16 points and the lowest score will receive 2. We'll continue this way until we have our final six to compete in the last showdown!
So, rank the Legion guys and then the Legion girls from who you think will win the grav-car race to who is just spinning their non-existant wheels! Round 7 will end on Tuesday, September 28th.

The Legionnaires have been invited to participate in the bucking robo-bronco competition, to see which Legionnaire can stay saddled on the mad animal the longest AND to entertain the crowds! First place will be awarded to the guy and girl who can hold onto the bronco the longest and remain seated without touching the ground.

As for M'On, I don't think he's been picked on too much at all. I really don't think he'd be better at jump rope than anyone else. It's something he likely never really did in the 20th century. Not to mention he's had a 1,000 years to lose the skill if he did enjoy it. Just came down to endurance, concentration, and balance in the end when I conceived that round.

Kinetix has a lot of energy and likely has the desire to stay. That's helped with enough missions (the solictior one, the fashion one, and to an extent the race one) that's she's been able to hold her place even in challenges she hasn't done that well.
To an extent, that's how Live Wire stayed as long as well and why Karate Kid was only once kicked out of the top three, even if for several challenges he didn't do so hot.
It's fun (and interesting) to see who can survive the longest! I was sure Shikari would make the final three for the gals, but she was one of the first eliminated!

FINAL ROUND
OBJECTIVE: This is it, guys! Clear all the points we've been calculating out of your head, because they're gone!
All the Legionnaires save for six have been eliminated for this final challenge...or should I say, challenges?! Yes, that's right. The Legionnaires will be asked to compete in three challenges back-to-back. It's no longer guys vs. gals, it's everyone for themself! Rank the six Legionnaires in all three challenges, and we'll pool their numbers together to find out who in reality would have made it to the finish line the fastest! Since we're starting over on points, it can be anyone's game!
Challenge 1: The Legionnaires leave the starting line to find a screaming horde of fans in front of them. They must sign twenty-five autographs (without powers), before they're allowed to push their way through the crowd to the next challenge. Hover-cam judges are watching!
Challenge 2: After that, the Legionnaires race about 100 meters to the next area: featuring six picnic tables! A crossword puzzle is waiting for each Legionnaire, featuring trivia about what has gone on in the Battle of the Sexes games! Finish the puzzle, making sure the judge has said its accurate, before racing to the next challenge.
Challenge 3: This is it! The physical gauntlet everyone has been waiting for. After another 100 meter dash, the Legionnaires have to scale a 50-foot net to reach a platform. From there, they must swing across a 100-ft stretch on monkey bars, until they get to the next platform where they must zip-line down into the water. In the water, it's a 100-ft swim to the shore. Once on dry land, it's time for a half-mile dash to the finish line! Should the Legionnaires fall on the monkey bars, they must start Challenge 3 again!
The Contenders: Cosmic Boy, Invisible Kid, Karate Kid, Kinetix, Triad, and Umbra.
So, rank the Legionnaires three times...once for each challenge! Remember, powers are still negated. The final round will end on Tuesday, October 12th.

This is it! The finish line has been broken and all the Legionnaires have made it across! Tabulating up the points for these three challenges reveals who has claimed first place...and won their gender the gold. 01. 174 pts - Cosmic Boy 02. 162 pts - Triad 03. 144 pts - Invisible Kid 03. 144 pts - Karate Kid 05. 136 pts - Kinetix 06. 120 pts - Umbra Yes, everyone, it's true! Cosmic Boy took first in the final challenge. Combine that with the fact the gents scored more total points than the ladies (the real way of determining the winner) and that means... ... the MALE Legionnaires have won Battle of the Sexes! Aww, poot. I wanted the ladies to win (traitor to my sex that I am). Still, the fact that the three ladies that made it into the final makes me very happy. Great game Future, it's been dead good fun. Now of course everyone can get there hit of gender challenge antics over on the Titans version of the game which is almost in the final round so there's a chance for people to make abig difference who makes it into the final (plug plug pluggity plug).

I've got plans for another game like it, though the lack of females preboot makes it hard to do Battle of the Sexes. I'm coming up with spin-off concepts involving opposing groups of Legionnaires. I'm tempted to do a game based off the two sides at Star Boy's Adventure trial.
