Those are the ones we have in common. Of your others, which one do you most enjoy?

I also get Simpsons, Wonder Women, Fables. Fables is by far the one I most enjoy.

I'm certainly not going to disagree with anything that's on your list since you've already deemed it worthy of your dollar, but I would highly recommend "Supreme Power" in case you drop something or if your budget can handle another title. It's one of my current favs and not hard to catch up with. Read the Supreme Powers thread to get a feel of what it's about and see if it piques your interest.

I fully agree with Drake. Supreme Power is one of the best, if not the best, titles that Marvel puts out now. In fact with it, The Inhumans and 1602 I'm buying more Marvel titles than I have in years.

X-STATIX #19
THANOS #6
SUPREME POWER #7

-CrossGen

ABADAZAD #3
BRATH #13
EL CAZADOR #5
KISS KISS, BANG BANG #1

(yes, that's all of CrossGen's output... frown )

No solicits for New Mutants or Inhumans that I could find, or I'd have ordered those, too. Maybe their schedule is off, and I'll have two issues of each to order next month!

Duke, my order came to just over $50 with shipping thru DCBS. You should give them a look-- 35% off is nice! cool

Just wondering what people think of Plastic Man, since it's on a few lists here. It got some mediocre reviews, but I rather liked the first issue.

I wouldn't pick it up just because of the previews I saw. This is a case of where the art made me look away, no matter how well it may have been written.

Good, goofy fun! Made all the more goofy, and all the more fun, by it's ernestness. The art has a wonderful 50's EC humor feel. Recommended!

DC Comics
Gotham Central #16

Probably the book that would come with my highest recommendation! A great police procedural comic. Lots of interesting characters and subtexts. Amazing art! Highly recommended! The current arc involves the Joker, which should make the book accesible to most new readers.

Hawkman #25

I had previously dropped this, only picked it back up for a couple of issues as it crosses over with JSA.

Justice League Adventures #28

A one-off for the Legion x-over.

DC/ABC
Tom Strong #25

I LOVE Tom Strong, but I hear it is an aquired taste. You'd have to be a big silver/early bronze age comics fan I think.

Image Comics
Age of Bronze #19

If you like comics as history, and/or the Trojan War time period, this is for you. Or, if you just like damn fine comics, this is also for you.

Marvel Comics
Amazing Spider-Man #504

Stazynski (sp?) has made this one of my current fav super-hero comics, now and of all time.

CrossGen
El Cazador #5

Pirates are cool! Well done pirates are even cooler! Pirate led by a hot redhead are the coolest of all!!

Gemstone
Walt Disney's Comics & Stories #642
Walt Dinsey's Uncle Scrooge #327

I REALLY enjoy these book, but Disney is not for everyone I guess.

magazines
Alter Ego #32
Hogan's Alley #12

Both fine magazines. AE centers on silver/bronze comics from the perspective of Roy Thomas. HA covers all aspects of cartooning.

Simpsons is always on my first draft order each month, but never quite makes the cut.

Wonder Woman I dropped a few issues ago.

Fables I have heard great things about, but have delayed jumping on for fear of coming in in the middle of a story. I have thought of maybe picking up a tpb, but have not been able to budget it.

I won't buy Plastic Man...

I'm mad at him for replacing Ralph Dibny in JLA...

Let me know what you think of this. I almost ordered it based on my approval of El cazador, but then hesitated for fear CrossGen might not be able to pull off spies as well as they did pirates.

I used to get my comics through mail. I find that my 15% discount comes to about the same as 35% off but add shipping. But this way I get to support my local dealer (and with only a half dozen or so shops in my entire State, I feel honorbound to do my part in helping to keep the industry alive) and get my comics weekly instead of monthly. With big monthly packages I found that many comics were going unread.

I thought it was okay, but not spectacular. But, sheesh, Plas is SO hard to do well. Cole's shadow looms large.

In fact, I had heard his Plas spoken of with such reverence for so many years, that even the Plastic Man Archives seems a dissappointment when compared to the hype.

I keep thinking about going to a mail order like DCBS but I keep coming back to the same thought. All but two shops in SLC have gone under in the last couple of years. I really don't want to take my business away from them. Even with the shipping added, with my monthly totals (around $120+ every month) would still come down by about 10% if I ordered through the mail. But I figured that 10% was justified if it helped Hastur's (my shop) stay in business.

I stuck by my local CBS for years after I first entertained the idea of mail-ordering my books; They just did everything they could to drive me away. No discount, even though I'd been a regular $80/month since high school (12+ years), frequently missed items on my dedicated pull list, stingy with special requests, amateurish grading and overpricing on back-issue stock.

That initially drove me to Lone Star, where I got 15% off and an additional 20% back issues, and they have this neat piggy-back feature where you can have store orders added to your monthly subscription shipment for no extra money.

When their back-issue pricing got in line with Mile High's, thus negating said benefits, I switched to DCBS for the bigger discount on my new books. I still stop in at the old CBS to browse and chat, catch items I may have missed on preorders, but I haven't regretted the switch to mail-order. If you've got a good store, then by all means, support it. Whole-heartedly. But I wasn't going to continue supporting ineptitude, no matter how much I like the people there.

I can't blame you for that Pov. And my store does miss out on a lot of special one-ofs and stuff but they keep the majority of my orders totally correct and usually remember me on some specials that I forgot to order. Like the last Ross/Dini JLA oversize. They put aside a copy for me when I hadn't ordered it.

If I could get more on the ball and work through Previews each month, I'm sure I'd get everything I wanted more often. But I could wind up ordering one of each out of that book sometimes.
