Identity Crisis just took the JLA down the same path (at least partly) as the Squadron Supreme. The mind altering of criminals...
HOW DID I MISS THIS BEFORE!!!!!
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Well, sometimes ya miss the obvious. For years as a kid, i thought smokin' grass was literally smokin the grass you cut with a lawnmower in your front yard.
Some people are notorious for it, like me, lol. But not having read SS, I couldn't tell you.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
Something pithy!

It's not the same, Rick. It's just not the same. Oregano's better...

And we know how that turned out. I don't expect an all out battle between members of the JLA, but considering the way things are going, it actually wouldn't surprise me.

Mark Greunwald was a talented writer and editor - a pity he died before really making his mark (no pun intended)

I think it's time for me to re-read SS, also...it's been years... I was impressed with the story when it came out, but what stands out in my mind most is his mixing his ashes into the printing ink when they published the TPB. That kind of love for his work, and that he had created something he felt was so personal and so proud of, really moved me.

I bought the TPB when it came out-- couldn't resist that Alex Ross cover-- and sold my issues on eBay.
This is the one and only eBay comic-book sale I have come to regret. I wish I still had my originals too.
A classic miniseries, my favorite ever.

I think Gru certainly made his mark with the SS maxi series. I mean the guys ashes are in it. I consider that up there with Watchmen almost. His Cap atleast the first 75% is my fave Cap. As an editor he oversaw much of Marvel's best titles. He fired Stern on Avengers which is hard to forgive...cause the Avengers have pretty much sucked since then.

My favorite work of his as a writer is The Project Pegasus Saga, from his first few issues of Marvel-Two-In-One. I treasure my TPB of that story, because it's not likely to be reprinted.
I wish I had bought his other MTIO issues back when there were better comics shops where I live. They sound interesting.
I agree that firing Roger Stern from Avengers just as Stern was getting really good is near unforgivable. But I disagree that there haven't been any good Avengers stories since. I loved the first three years-plus of the Bob Harras era, and even though IMO the Kurt Busiek era is overrated, I think Ultron Unlimited is great and The Morgan Conquest is fun.

It actually hadn't occurred to me, either...Although I'm a little confused as to what exactly is going on. I know that the JLA has been mindwiping criminals (?), but not the details. Any pedantics among you feel like filling me in?
The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.
Don't judge me!
