It has long been my dream to have someone to lounge around in underwear, order pizza and read comics with... the wine SEALS the deal!

Matthew-- I usually split 'em up over 2-3 days... but I'm SERIOUSLY DTing for comics... so I *might* read 'em ALL...!

I only get my comics once a month as well, from Lonestar COmics, they ship the first Wednesday of each month.

Those 5 week months (like July) are killers!

DB, I just recently switched my mail-order service from LoneStar to DCBS. I loved the service and back-issue discount I was getting from LS, but economics forced my hand. My monthly bill was creeping up between $90 and $100, even with my 15% discount. But with the 35% I get across the board from DCBS, not only am I back in my comfort zone of around $70-80 a month, I upped my shipping frequency to 2x a month. FYI!

I'll miss it, too. Fortunately it looks like DC plans to keep the artist employed.

Generally, about a week or so into a given month. I'm impatiently awaiting the August update (see my "WowowoWOW!" thread... )!

And, to be fair, their catalog isn't as user-friendly as the LoneStar listings. I recently emailed Cameron about giving CrossGen their own subsection; as it stands now, you have to go 10 or so pages into the "other comics" category to find where they start. I miss LS's standing-order generator, too. But Cameron and Kathryn give good service, and you can't beat their prices.

I think I am goign to try them out this month.

Just read PoCo 18.... that run is going on eBay. *bleah* Dull, like plain oatmeal.

Just noticed that Carter is looking like a fuzzy-chested hottie on the cover of HAWKMAN 17! *finally* comics are pandering to us gay boyz!

I tried to get into POwer COmpany. THere were some great ideas but if you ask me, not enough established characters. I know they tried to rectify this by bringing Firestorm in, but it was too little too late.

And then FIRESTORM only lasted like 2 issues!!!

PoCo gets props for its diverse cast and the earlier issues were enjoyable but Busiek's stories really suffered the last 2-3 months in the rush to get things cleared up before the axe fell.

PoCo 18 gets a 6/10 for going out with a whimper, not a bang. 'll post more reviews later..

I believe even Busiek said the book was launched badly, with individual spotlight one-shots that irritated people who thought they "had" to get them all.

It had poential, but was solid rather than exceptional. It didn't stick out.

X-STATIX 11

Once again one of the best comics available! Allred's 2-month break during Wolverine/Doop seems to have taken some of the "blockiness" off his artwork... many of the pages this month looked like Allred as inked by Vince Coletta or Dick Giordano... very enjoyable.

El Guapo will be an interesting character to watch... it took a re-read to realize just what the "third party" sharing the bed with Consuela and El Guapo was...!

The evolution of Myles and Billy Bob from teammates to lovers to just friends has been interesting and spot-on I think...

And then all the drama with Venus, Guy, Dead Girl and the Anarchist...!

9.5/10 It just doesn't get more fun than this...!
