I think the problem is, a lot of these people forcing others to be their consort are just lonely. This was back before the internet and match.com and its ilk.

If I was going to force someone to be my consort, it would definitely have to be someone who is repulsed by the idea, though. That keeps things spicy, if you know what I mean.
