I missed the last few episodes of the second season of "Justice League," the Cartoon Network series, including the three-episode "Starcrossed" story line. It was said to prominently feature Hawkgirl, one of my sources of interest in that series -- for obvious reasons {grin}

Those three episodes are now available on a DVD, at about $15 on Amazon.com. Unlike the three previous "Justice League" story-arc DVDs, this one is done up right: both widescreen and full-screen versions, deleted scenes, featurettes (one about Hawkman), and other special features.

Who here has seen that three-episode arc, and could you give me some reactions? Is the story worthy of such DVD treatment and cost? And if you have the DVD, are you pleased with it?

(The other DVDs have only included specific story arcs. No release is planned yet of either full "JL" season.)

I saw the majority of it when it aired in one piece on CN, and I thought it was good. It was basically the payoff for the entire mystery of Hawkwoman's past. While trying not to reveal too much, the Thanagarians come calling to Earth, with major implications for the team that sets up the forthcoming Justice League Unlimited series which is premiering... this weekend? I can't remember for sure. CN was going to rerun Starcrossed the week before the premiere but that might have already happened. I'd probably pay $15 for it if I was so inclined.

It's pretty good. Certainly up to the standard of the rest of the episodes, but there's still just something about Justice League that doesn't get me going as much as the various versions of B:TAS did. I'm not sure what it is since the characterisation is pretty great for everyone (and it's nice to see that Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl are very definately a match for the men on the team, and often outclass them) and the animation is pretty much perfect.

Starcrossed was on here in the UK last week and I did enjoy it. The story is good, the animation is great, Hawkgirl really gets to show her strength and the Thanagarians are pretty cool. Whether it's worth getting it on DVD... I dunno, kinda depends on how much you've liked the rest of the series. I'd probably recommend trying to catch it on TV first and then deciding, but I don't think it would be a disappointement if you did buy it on DVD first.
