X-FORCE #14- All the Stryfe, Cable, Bishop, Apocalypse stuff is a serious turn-off for me. Mutant Messiah girl and X-23 had a nicely written scene.

Archangel's actions made me curious, too.

The rest didn't really mean that much to me. I liked Clayton Crain's art, though. Quite a bit.

Ultimately, I think this is all grounded in eras of the X-men that I didn't enjoy much the first time around. What's here certainly isn't bad- or even mediocre. Just doesn't get me excited. Tastes will obviously vary.

UNCANNY X-MEN #509: "And so the cracks begin to show."

If they hadn't already. There's hints and vague little comments in interviews that *seem* to foretell a return for Jean Grey. I think what's happening with Cyclops and Emma here (each hiding their own little plots-- his, X-FORCE,-- hers, the CABAL, and soon the DARK X-MEN, evidently) is showing in the distance between them.

I liked the impromptu counseling scene between Dazzler, Pixie and Northstar as they return from a night out on the town (an interesting trio, that) to find Scott sleeping on the sofa. I thought it was hilarious.

Interrupted, of course, by an attack of some of the Sisterhood. Red Queen (who isn't really there?) reveals that Psylocke's revival was a trial run. Wonder who the real object of revival will be? Hmmm. I just can't think of anyone...

X-Facotr - PAD is losing me with this future stuff. I liked teh grounded book from earlier in this sseries run.

Uncanny- How could they raise Psylocke if she wasn't dead. Did I miss something?

X-Force/Cable - I like the art in Cable, but it's too dark in X-Force. As for the Messiah war story, still leaves something to be desired. I don't think any of the characters have had a great moment.

They didn't raise Psylocke from the dead. Madeline Pryor plucked her out of the multiverse where she was fighting with the New Exiles (in Claremont's book before it was canceled) and put her spirit back into its original body (the one that was buried in Kwonnan's grave)... I think.

X-MEN 510: The first round in the X-Men Vs. Sisterhood match ends here. The Sisterhood's motive for invading the heroes' HQ? To steal a lock of Jean Grey's hair that Wolverine has been keeping.

I wonder what significance that could *possibly* have?

There's an extended Wolvie vs. Psylocke fight scene. And a scene with the Cuckoos and Elixir that you'll either find fun or skeevy. Maybe both. It's kind of a new role for Elixir, too.

Where'd Northstar go?

Unfortunately, the Sisters still don't get much narrative introduction, so if you're unfamiliar with any of them, you're not going to get to learn about them here. Motive, in general, is pretty skimpy.

Did they take Empath with them? I forget. If not, that could impact NEW MUTANTS, which just began.

Some thoughts:

Uncanny X-Men - you'd think this would be an enjoyable read, given Matt Fraction has shown a talent for Marvel stories and the line-up includes just about everyone. But I really feel like something is missing each and every month. It doesn't feel right to me at all.

X-Men Legacy - and this title is really bottoming out. I don't know what their long term plan is, but I'm not enjoying it at all. I wish they'd do something here. Even cancel it and put Rogue and Gamit somewhere else.

Well Legacy is finishing it's focus on Xavier in the next couple of months. It's hinted that Rogue will be the focus for the next bit. It will be more present and immediate future facing, tying more into the whole mutuant faction.

I do think Uncanny is being drawn out a bit. Fraction could move the plot along, and we'd have more stories to read. Face it true believers- tpb wins again.

X-Men Legacy #224- When the personification of the Danger Room appears, part of my brain turns off.

Click Here For A Spoiler Rogue gets full(?) control of her powers, a development decades in the making.

CJ-- You mean Rogue hasn't been a focus of Legacy already?

I like Carey, but this title has just been... a little tedious. More focus on Rogue won't relieve that, for me. I guess Gambit'll be next (sigh).

ASTONISHING TALES #5- The Mojoworld segment veers into absurdism. I'll admit, the sight of Cannonball and Sunspot wearing bras on their heads was amusing, but I'll be darned if I can explain anything else that happened.

I think Sunspot has a plan?

Maybe?

EXILES #3- Well, that storyline didn't really head anywhere. The next one looks more fun. Vision, Ultron and Machine Man heading up a world run by robots?

Now this is a distinct and identifiable separate reality.

I "Byrne-stole" the first issue of X-Men Forever aka Claremont's Latest Go-Round, and I have to say it was even worse than I expected. It's just an extended punch-up with Cortez and it reads like it could have been written by any faceless hack. Tom Grummett is such a good artist -- why does he keep wasting his time working with Claremont?

Any reaction to the smooches in recent issues of X-Factor? Two longtime members kiss in the future, while another longtime member meets a friend from the past with a kiss, as well.

The disparate plots are aligning... leaving me curious about what comes after when all the current convergences conclude.

I really disliked the most recent issue of ASTONISHING X-MEN.

Did they really just kill Forge in such a manner? Was it necessary to completely gut the character first?

I'm beginning to hate Scott Summers, not just for his 'relationship' with Emma. He's becoming more villainous that Magneto.

At least in the person-to-person sense. Will a more global villainy follow?

I haven't read any of those books. I'm behind on X-Factor and couldn't get #46 on Wednesday. Probably could have if I remembered it was out and asked. (I'm going to a different comic shop and they're not very well organized yet.) I heard about the second kiss, though. Sounded kind of fast. I mean, does the old friend even know how to kiss?

I kind of liked Forge. :7

Is anyone reading Dark Wolverine? I just picked it up this week and was shocked to find I actually like Daken. A lot. Might even like to see him with Moonstar, which is utterly ridiculous. (Although, with Rogue having her powers under control, the X-Books need another impossible romance.)

I still want to see him get pounded to a pulp, though. And I hear it's coming. evil

Does anyone know if Daken's made any bisexual references in front of Wolverine? I bet the look on Logan's face would be priceless.

In my ongoing review of all the comics I'm collecting I quickly made my way through the two X-books I least like and am saving the other two for a little later.

They are:

Astonishing X-Men - I think I'm going to drop this. Again, Warren Ellis shows how much he can dissapoint when he does Marvel superheroes (including mutant teams). I think its just so...boring.

X-Men Legacy - I urge LWers who are enjoying this title to give me some reasons why, because I'm just finding it so boring. And I love Rogue & Gambit and should really be into this title. But it seems as if nothing is happening, the title is just lingering around and I can't find a single sequence where I like one of the characters involved.

Well, I'm not reading either title, but apparently Legacy will be absorbing the surviving New/Young X-Men cast after Utopia, if that interests you.

[I still don't intend to buy it, no. The slaughterfest kind of killed any interest in reading about the remaining characters from that point on]

I'm not reading it, either, but it sounds like Rogue's getting a good storyline for Necrosha. From what I've heard, I get the feeling Legacy's being stalled by Utopia.

That's all CBR talked about for about two weeks straight, it was hilarious and quite sad at the same time, especially when you have Peter David going up against a troll.

EDIT: I started picking Legacy up towards the end of the Xavier run, and I've found it enjoyable thus far. I'd rather Carey revert the title back into a teambook.

Anways, #226 was very enjoyable! It gave me the feeling that the X-Men were a family (with Gambit protecting Trance, Mindee Cuckoo and Rogue's exchange, Ariel coming out of the woodwork) it just seemed right for their current situation. Definetly waiting for Fraction's run to come to an end, if not just for the art, it's been storyline after storyline of disappointment and bad characterization.

wow, Dodson is really playing up the stereotypes with Dani's outfit. When I saw the b&w preview, I thought it was Outlaw. It's great to see her back though.
