Hey, let's not twist (appropriate for you) this into my problem, when you typed it first smile

And all that flailing around burns up the calories.

That's good to know
I'm skeptical of returning to the gym - it was such a big part of my 20-30 year old gay life. In my 40s, I want something else

So the yoga reviews are helpful!

We gay men very much have to keep fit... wink

I prefer swimming myself. Helps keep me cool in the horrible heat here, and is a good full-body workout. And all I need are my trunks, goggles and a pair of slippers.

Just got back from vacation. Managed not to bloat up too much by limiting my intake without depriving myself.

Now I need to hit the gym in earnest and stop nibbling on the chocolate we brought home...

Good for you, Ibby

That's awesome! It's so hard to mind your calorie intake when you're travelling

I still haven't started with yoga... it's on the 2016 list of things to do

Thanks Myg!

Sadly I have not been able to work out regularly yet as my sleeping schedule is all whacked. But I am trying very hard to fix the sleep.

I got divorced (AGH) about 4 months ago. At first, it didn't impact my diet - in fact, I lost MORE weight than I expected. But right now, I'm in a living situation where I have to order out a lot and I can feel the weight coming on.
EGADS!
Fortunately I'll be in a different environment at the end of January where I'll have freedom to cook and stuff at home.
Sigh.

Best of luck Myg. Sorry to hear about the negative impact.

My own weight has increased because of all the overtime I have been doing. I have been exercising regularly over the holidays but I worry I will not be able to keep it uo once work starts.

Hey Myg. Sorry to hear about the divorce and its impact.

I can't blame anything in that sort of life changing category that's affecting my diet. Heck, I can't even blame any overtime. But to ensure I'm not left blaming myself (gasp!), I'm pinning it all on the beer from back in the October ale festivals. Oh and being a Super Sloth of Space in the last quarter. smile

I popped on the scales last week. Popped off to check they weren't defective, and popped back on again. Bah!

I'd like to lose 12 pounds. 4 have gone in the first week, just moving from festivities snacks to something a bit more normal. But I have a Cupboard of Chocs lurking in my kitchen!

I don't live alone, so it takes an awful lot of willpower to avoid the chips and junk food lurking in the kitchen...

If only willpower worked like power rings do in the Green Lantern books smile Once you've used it up, just recharge...

I made plenty of veggies in the steamer and snacked on those, when I needed to. I'm perfectly happy to do that. It was the convenience of the rubbish that was the thing when I got in at night. Just a habit. I didn't miss chocs or crisps once all last week.

I'd be rubbish at being Green Lantern. Not as rubbish as Hal was in the whiny '80s though obviously.

Day One: From protective shield around war torn country, preventing movement of arms. Will little beams to identify and remove all weapons from country. Combine arms and fly them into sun. Rest. Be vilified by your own country for interfering with arms trade/ get criticised by all sides and other countries for seemingly favouring one side over the other.

Day Two: Introduce basic foundations for talks in a war free environment, between local interested parties with protective emerald dome. Allow all discussions to be broadcast in full. Be vilified by your own country for interfering with trade deals/profiting from war torn area's resources. Get criticised by all sides and other countries for interfering with their greedy ambitions.

Day Three: Use lantern ring to stir the tea. War torn area returns to being just that. Get thank you e-mail from arms companies as all sides are restocking their weapons. Spend rest of day avoiding governments trying to either arrest/kill/recruit/steal ring.

Day Four: Use Lantern ring to stir tea on Mars.

Day 5. Use lantern ring to make everyone forget that you had a lantern ring.

Day 6. Use lantern ring to turn invisible and punch greedy politicians in nose. Use that as workout.

Now, now Ibby. Those are democratically elected politicians. You can't just punch them on the nose. I mean, you can't just punch them on their noses by yourself. Everyone in the electorate should be given the opportunity to invisibly punch them on the nose too.

The GL ring can arrange that, and all this ring slinging will give me a good workout!

There's barely a sentence that doesn't make me wonder if I should be checking out urban dictionary.

Sigh, I remember when just having a "bare" in "barely" was the height of sophisticated entendre. smile

Gee, I was just using what Hal and company use in the comic books!

Perhaps your mind is reading too much into this wink

A vigorous rubbing was required.
