You guys are all doing so well!!! Good for you!!

I wish I could say the same. Unfortunately my weight loss efforts have been on hold for the past few weeks. I have been battling a bronchial infection for over 3 weeks! I'm at the point where I'd give just about anything to feel well again.

I've been too sick to walk to the store for groceries, so I've been living on take out pizza and whatever I can find in the pantry!

I'm actually missing and craving fresh, healthy food! Hopefully I'll feel up to shopping soon so I can rejoin you all.

I was weighed at the doctor's office yesterday and was appalled with myself.

Despite my recent effort to get back on track, I quickly backslid again.

Hopefully as of today, that's reversed. I'm tallying up my daily points again, as that seemed to be my most successful diet plan.

I'm also revisiting Dottie\'s Weight-Loss Zone again for inspiration, information and eating ideas.

I've GOT to do something!

I love Dottie's!!! love It makes eating out so much easier!
The Generic Food site is another helpful site for WW folks. It lists the Points values of most fresh foods.

And, I agree, WW seems to work best. Keep at it, folks! smile

Hope you are well again, Ronda. There really has been a nasty upper respiratory virus making the rounds this summer. It gave my 5-year-old croup, which entailed another visit to the ER when he said "I can't breathe." One of our neighbors was hospitalized, and my wife and I were in pretty puny shape for a few weeks.

I somewhat miraculously lost another 2 pounds this week. I say miraculous because what has been happening the last several weeks is this: I weight myself on Monday and show a 1-2 pound loss. Then, through the week, my weight rises by 3-4 pounds, only to drop a lot on Saturday and Sunday, so that by the next Monday I have a net loss. It's weird. It's like the best thing I can do to lose weight is just go to sleep on a Sunday night! But since it has happened a few weeks in a row now, I'm confident that real weight loss is still occuring despite all the intra-week volatility.

Good going, guys! smile

DC, I usually only weigh myself on weigh-in day, which for me is Wednesday. I think if I weighed myself more frequently I'd get really obsessive about it.

The important thing, though, is that the weight is coming off. Keep up the good work. laugh

Well I dragged myself to my WW meeting today. (Last week I was at the doctor's, and the week before I had to leave part way through because of my constant coughing.)

I haven't lost anything for 2 weeks, but I'm okay with that since I wasn't putting any effort into it. You get what you give and all that.

On the way home I picked up some yogurt and fruit and veg, etc., so i have high hopes for next week!

And thanks for the get well wishes Pov and DC. Unfortunately I don't think I have a virus (according to the doctor a viral infection runs it's course in about a week). I've been battling this cough and chest congestion for a month now, and it's possible I may have developed asthma. Waiting for my regular doctor to get back from holidays. I went to a clinic but that's like drive thru medicine: I had a diagnosis and a prescription in under 2 minutes, and I'm not really comfortable with that!

Ronda,

Prolonged coughs are difficult to both diagnose and treat. My sister-in-law has been dealing with the same thing for a few years, now. It's often hard to determine if it's asthma, chronic bronchitis or something else (which could be anything from an allergy to a prolonged infection).

Sometimes viral coughs DO linger for a long time--your body develops a reaction to the infection that persists after the virus has run its course--like a groove on a record that the needle can't get out of (how's that for an old-fashioned analogy!). You will hear doctors call this reactive airway disease (RAD), which is really a kind of asthma caused by an infection instead of an allergen or chemical irritant. If it is RAD, a course of inhaler treatment will usually clear it up. My son has this, btw. He doesn't get asthma from allergies (thank god!) but at least twice a year a virus will stimulate this RAD cough and we give him his "teddy bear game" (the inhaler spacer tube has a teddy bear on it).

I hope you get some good medical care and get well. Good luck!

Ronda, I hope you're well soon. It's important to take care of your overall health before you worry about weight loss. hug

I'm normal, for the first time in 5 years, I'm normal -- at least in the context of BMI. I must give the House Labor and Education Committee credit for making an inquiry to our agency that has taken up my most of meal times to respond to. Who says Congress is good for nothing?

Time to celebrate with a big . . . unsweetened, iced coffee and the scent of someone else's orange-cranberry muffin.

Congrats RhL and DblC!

I just bought some new jeans and a two pairs of pants (trousers for those on the other side of the pond wink ). When I started the diet six months ago, I was in a 44 waist. My new pants are both 38. I tried on a 36 on one of them, and it fit okay, but it was just a bit snug. I figured if they're a little loose it's probably better, so I went with the 38.

The other pair were grey and there was no 36 in that style. For some reason grey is next to impossible to find for dress-casual pants. I can't really wear khaki. No matter how much weight I lose, khaki makes my butt look enormous! shocked

The 36 fit well for the jeans, so I went with that. BouncingBoy

I wish losing weight weren't get so expensive, but it's great to have to spend this money. laugh

I'm down two more myself, so that's 54 down with 13 to go! This week will be tough, with my birthday and all, but I'll do my best. smile

I was on vacation for a week, but still managed to lose a pound, despite some rather fine meals. Some really fine meals. But, I was probably alot more active too (swimming, hiking, luggage-schlepping).

You're all doing great! Me, I haven't lost a pound in weeks. But I haven't gained either. Stuck at 44 pounds. Just wish I could lose that last six so I could move on to my second goal.

Okay, so I've decided that now that I can't fit into at least half of my pants, it's time to accept the fact that maybe I can't actually eat anything I want with no consequences.

This is a sad realization at 20 and, honestly, if I were older I think I'd kick out alcohol. Unfortunately, I'm not, so I've decided to create an online journal to track what I'm eating. It might not count as dieting exactly, but I have set calorie goals and things like that.

Anyway, part two of the plan involves running and swimming. My motivation is pathetic but I thought, maybe, if I said something to someone (or on the board or whatever) I'd feel guilty about not doing it later. Or, possibly, actually do it. We'll see...

Good for you, Beth!

I know what you mean about posting. Posting to this thread has sort of taken the place of the traditional Weight Watchers meeting for me. After I weigh myself and record on the WW site, I post it here! I think it makes me take it more seriously knowing that I have this group for support and encouragement.

I'm sure you'll have good things to report soon.

Last week I didn't lose anything, but this week I'm down another three pounds. That brings my total lost to 48 so far.

Like I said, I haven't lost anything in weeks. But I was feeling better this week, lighter if that's possible. And the shirt I wore yesterday to work I haven't been able to wear since SDCC in '04, even then only as an over-shirt. This time I could button it up all the way with plenty of breathing room. Even the bottom button which is usually a problem for me on my shirts.

So with trepidation I stepped on the scale today. And I lost four pounds this week! With all the traveling we did since I last weighed and road food I actually lost weight.

With that four I'm up to 48 pounds, 2 pounds from my first goal. Come hell or high water I'm going to hit that mark this week.

frown Based on the journal so far, I may have to cut alcohol out of my diet for real. This is very disappointing. I'm not even 21 yet! That or figure out a way to cut down on food. (But I love to eat! Argh.)
