I hate American Pie. I don't care who sings it.
It's not my favorite, but I don't see why people hate Sussudio so much.
The Velvet Underground's album (did it have a name, the banana one? was there more than one?) did nothing for me and yes I listened to it several times.

Not even me, sweetums?
I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store Where I'd heard the music years before But the man there said the music wouldn't play
And in the streets the children screamed The lovers cried and the poets dreamed But not a word was spoken The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most The Father, Son and Holy Ghost They caught the last train for the coast The day the music died
That last still gives me chills ... has been 30 years now. And no, I still don't know what the fuck it means!

"Girl you know it's true" from Milli Vanilli -- song just makes me want to shoot my radio.

Which would be a "heresy" if you loved it anyway. Is that what you're saying?

I get the impression heresy in this thread is you don't like a song everyone is supposed to think a classic.
Caroline will hate me for this but I don't think much of Elvis as a singer. Never really have. Although I will have to admit that the remix of his A Little Less Conversation is a good song and one I have on my MP3 list.

I like WILL TO POWER's late-80s remakes of Im Not in Love and Baby I Love Your Way better than the originals.
I know, I know...

Scooter I might have agreed with you re: Elvis through much of his career.
It was his later stuff like BURNING LOVE, SUSPICIOUS MINDS, IN THE GHETTO and whatnot that convinced me the guy COULD lay down a mean track.

I've never cared for Bruce Springsteen -- his songs or his singing. Both sound like a bunch of friends at a bar who've already had too much to drink. Yes, I know: not only a heresy, but damn unpatriotic.

Hmmm... my music heresies...
"Emotions" by Mariah Carey. When she starts burping out those shrill staccato high notes, it makes me want to stab my eardrums with Q-tips.
"Shake your Bon Bon" - Ricky Martin. One of the worst follow-up dance singles ever.
I love Amy Grant, but her cover of "Big Yellow Taxi" is pretty despicable.
White. A blank page or canvas. His favorite. So... many... possibilities.

Please be gentle:
I hate Led Zepplin and think the Doors are overrated.
(I'm probably going straight to hell.)

Whitney Houston has always made me feel rather bilious actually. Though it is entertaining watching the way her chin wobble whenever she holds those <torturous> long notes.
But that's just my opinion

Speaking of BIG YELLOW TAXI... I adored the Counting Crows cover of it from earlier this year. Well done, boys!
'Binger-- drag queens seem fond of emulating that jaw-wobble too. It's pretty hysterical!

Mechana-- no argument from me re: Led Zep, though I *do* find the song Trampled Underfoot to be pretty sexy...

I can take or leave Led Zep. I like "Trampled Under Foot," and "Fool In the Rain" (dig the piano), but most of the rest haven't worn well with age, particularly "Stairway to Heaven," which should have been retired from classic rock stations 10,000 plays ago.

Agree about the stairway to Boredom thoughts, though Battle of Evermore and When the Levee Breaks from the same album are just superb!
I also like Fool in the Rain HWW, it's definitely the stand out track on that album.
Sorry but I have no memory of album titles.

You do realize led zeppelin just released a 3 cd and 2 dvd set that was number 1 on billboard? If their stuff hasnt aged well, then why would it be #1? for a band that hasnt been together for 23 years? but some songs are just plain tiring fool in the rain rock n roll black dog immigrant song just an opinion with some fact thrown in

For those who have posted without confessing their own heresy, I quote the excellent Detective-Sergeant Howard: "Oh, c'mon! You don't come to a show-your-warts party with clean skin. It's rude."

It's called "The Velvet Underground and Nico". They made five studio albums in all, but the fifth was made without any of the original members involved.
