I can't speak for other parts of the country, but in Winnipeg folks break out the shorts the day after the snow is off the ground! Anything to prolong the too short summers!

Mechana, I thought I was the last one not knowing how to drive a stickshift. Yesterday the BF started my lessons. How can anyone pay any attention to what's going on outside the car when there is so much to do inside??? Am I missing that part of my brain? (Don't answer that!) I am blessed that Fred is a very patient man.

Shawn tried to teach me once, in his old Firebird, but I was terrified! I was convinced I was going to miss some vital step and kill us both! Better to learn these things while you're younger, and with someone who doesn't care what you do to their transmission or clutch! He is normally very patient too, but has flat out said there is no way I'm learning to drive in his BMW! Shoulda stuck with the lessons in the Firebird while I had the chance I guess!

The part that really sucks is that the car just sat in the driveway for nearly 6 months while he was out of town last year. I wonder if you can take professional lessons on how to drive a standard?

I should report you all for this thread, but as the Moderator, that would just make more work for me.

I thought maybe there was some sort of rule against rambling incoherent threads created by people with nothing better to do than try and drag others down with them. Whew!

Well, I hope not. That would probably be my sig if I had one.

Dragging people into random incoherence is one of my favorite pastimes. Have no fear.

• purple magnetic pin "cushion", bought at dollar store and as yet unused
• bottle of rubber cement (okay, 2 bottles)
• a digital watch that gains a few minutes every day (if you guessed dollar store, you guessed right)

1 baby boy, age 8 months, asleep.
