Does anybody want to play with me?
So the BF is out of town AGAIN, with another trip already being planned after this one. I don't have a car, there is over 30 cm of snow on the ground, most of my friends and family live out of town, my one good local friend is at work, I have no work to speak of, I'm broke and I'm bored and feeling very sorry for myself.
Oh don't get me wrong, I have a million things I could be doing. I even have a list. But none of them are much fun and I don't feel like doing them. So I'm just gonna sit here and complain instead.
So, anyone have anything amusing to share? Trivia, jokes, anecdotes, life altering personal revelations? Look around the room and list your five favorite things. Or the five strangest. Play with me!

Oooooh, a participant! Snow and food coloring? The mind races!
The mice have been relatively quiet. I hope that means their numbers have dwindled, but I'm not optimistic. Besides, I only play poker with dogs.

Bats, spiders, gargoyles, and an owl?
Now that I look around, and don't hold this against me, I've got stuffed animals mostly gotten free from subscribing to Wildlife Foundation but some from traveling, all sitting on the curton rod above my head.
There's a red fox, green turtle, lion cub, falcon, two panda bears, a royal canadian mounted moose, and a lock ness monster.
I think they'd be intimidated by your pets Arachne.
Car? Who outside of NYC doesn't have a car these days?

LOL I'm the last person to be holding something against people with stuffed animals. I used to get one every year for Christmas until just a few years ago. I was completely off the wagon until this Halloween when I decided I needed a spider.

Yep they're addictive, I'm about to re-up my NWF subscription: polar bear! Originally posted by mechana: Originally posted by Blockade Boy: Car? Who outside of NYC doesn't have a car these days? I learned the hard way, I've not the patience to teach another how to drive a stick shift. Hmmm, where are the bosses? I seen that both of them are logged in?

When I was home for Christmas, my Mom asked me to go through all my childhood stuffed animals to see if there were any I wanted to keep. There must have been 5 big black garbage bags filled with them! Unfortunately most were not salvageable since they smelled of mildew, but it was fun to see them all again. I took their pictures. I must have at least 20 more that I've received as an adult. I'm still guilty of buying them occasionally ofr myself, (so...damn..cute!), but I try to limit myself to small ones. I tell myself it's okay because I'm a "creative" type.

My dad tried to teach me how to drive a standard, but I never quite got the hang of it.

I was just noticing some of the things here we can click on that I didn't know were clickable. That "recent visitor's" link is an information junkie's creme de la fixes. I imagine Nightcrawler at his work table cackling, "Links, links, hey bud I got your links here. Premo stuff, heh, heh."

One of my Halloween prezzies from Scott was a Jack Skellington head compact filled with vanilla scented, flavored lip gloss. I just love it, and when the product runs out, I'm going to try to find a similar product to substitute so I can still use the compact. Five things around my computer: A limited edition small poster of the vampire from Anita Blake Vampire Hunter graphic novel comics 'Guilty Pleasures.' My 2006 and 2007 editions of Llewellyn's 'Witches datebook' Christmas present from Scott, a Senseo coffee pot and two cans of 'coffee pods' A brand new bottle of 500 count generic Ibuprofen, which I eat like M&M's A credit card for Lane Bryant, which lets me buy for many stores. This card feeds my fat girl fashionable clothes habit. I am terrible about using retail therapy to ward off depression. ******** this was a fun game, let's do more

It's never too late to learn to drive a standard. I got my first one in November. It was gruesome for a couple of weeks but I sure wasn't bored. More like terrified.
Five new things to do this year:
Scuba diving lessons Read The Odyssey Transfer the old vinyl to MP3 Hike in the Cape Breton Highlands Defeat the raspberry-eating pocupine
Holy Cats of Egypt!

So dramatically beautiful as is all of Nova Scotia. Refresh yourself after with a visit to Black Brook Beach: wide, smooth, oceanfront with a freshwater waterfall/pool at one end and thousands of white whales. Okay, they weren't so "whalish" but you Canadians are some of the whitest sun-bathers I've ever seen. WAR: drinking grog at Fort Louisburg while imagining one more French loss for having the cannons pointed the wrong way.

Pastey and proud! I can't speak for other parts of the country, but in Winnipeg folks break out the shorts the day after the snow is off the ground! Anything to prolong the too short summers!

Mechana, I thought I was the last one not knowing how to drive a stickshift. Yesterday the BF started my lessons. How can anyone pay any attention to what's going on outside the car when there is so much to do inside??? Am I missing that part of my brain? (Don't answer that!) I am blessed that Fred is a very patient man.

Shawn tried to teach me once, in his old Firebird, but I was terrified! I was convinced I was going to miss some vital step and kill us both! Better to learn these things while you're younger, and with someone who doesn't care what you do to their transmission or clutch! He is normally very patient too, but has flat out said there is no way I'm learning to drive in his BMW! Shoulda stuck with the lessons in the Firebird while I had the chance I guess! The part that really sucks is that the car just sat in the driveway for nearly 6 months while he was out of town last year. I wonder if you can take professional lessons on how to drive a standard?

I should report you all for this thread, but as the Moderator, that would just make more work for me.
Five things around my computer:
A pile of CDs for listening.
A recent copy of my APA.
An Ultraman temporary tattoo.
A stuffed toy cow I've named Memphis, after the city where she was obtained.
A snow globe containing pictures of my nephews and niece.

I'm just mean. I don't believe it for a second. I thought maybe there was some sort of rule against rambling incoherent threads created by people with nothing better to do than try and drag others down with them. Whew!

So, in the Five Things spirit, here are five things in my line of sight: - purple magnetic pin "cushion", bought at dollar store and as yet unused
- bottle of rubber cement (okay, 2 bottles)
- a digital watch that gains a few minutes every day (if you guessed dollar store, you guessed right)
- wee bag of gelt
- a 3" x 5" card listing my computer solitaire high scores
