Anybody catching this quirky dramedy? What a great ensemble cast! There's nobody I find boring on that show, even the supporting characters. And diversity abounds in the casting. Love it, love it, love it!

Agree. Great diversity in the cast. And I love Dr McDreamy Patrick Dempsey.
Even Alex is growing on me.

At first, I hated this show -- young doctors in lust: where have we seen that before? -- but I've slowly gotten drawn into it.
The episode where the young doctor fell asleep at the wheel and plowed into a car carrying a pregnant woman and her husband and parents was one of the most moving shows I've seen in awhile.

Grey's Anatomy is the Superbowl of shows for females. My g/f is enthralled. My mom and sister are hooked. And at my new house, my two female roomates (and three of their friends) are so hooked, that this was a 'lets stay in, have a [lot] of drinks, eat some food, cry on and off and watch Grey's Anatomy' night.
I just don't get it...but I find it fascinating how everyone is *so* into this show!

It's the first time I've ever seen a show so racially and ethnically diverse and yet race is such a non-issue with casting romantic relationships (e.g. Burke and Yang, George and Callie, Meredith's mom and chief-of-staff guy). And Christina Yang as a Jew - oy vay!

I think if McRobin wants Meridith he's gonna need to use every device in his toolbelt to combat McDreamy. Or better yet call in Batman. The episode featured the (bubonic) Plague but there was nary a castle, dark age, leper, or infected rodent to be found!

I was watching the premiere with a female friend and she was still heartbroken over the loss of Denny. I think the writers totally succeeded in every aspect of drawing you into him and Izzy's relationship before lowering the boom. As shamelessly manipulative as this show is (they contrived a *prom* at the hospital!) it does it well.
Can't wait to see what they do with Izzy now that she's quit -- could there be some "I never filed the paperwork" reprieve (I hope not - her behavior warranted getting booted (if not criminal charges)). I wouldn't mind seeing her take some other function at the hospital (social worker?).

Why does McDreamy ask Meredith to make a choice? He's still the one married! - Unless he's already chosent to leave Addison.
And what will happen to Addison now if Derek leaves her? - a fling with Korev? He does seem to be a ringer for McSteamy in some ways.

Just to clarify, I do think the show is brillant--just commenting on how all the females in my life are so in love with it! I can totally see why so many male fans are into it too.
Oh and a question--is the McSteamy guy going to reappear on the show? He seemed so central during the recap to all the drama...

McRobin is McVet. And McSteamy is returning.
Gray's has a comic book connection too. Allan Heinberg of Young Avengers and Wonder Woman is one of the writers on the show. So expect some comic book references to pop up!

Another Comic Connection: McSteamy is McMultiple Man from X-Men 3. I wanna see McRobin vs. McMultiple Man! Or maybe McRobin + McMultiple Man ?

All these Mc references have me hungry for a Big Mac.
I'm confused: Who is McSteamy? I know Derek is McDreamy, and Robin is McVet ...
The Meredith/Derek romance is what holds the series together, yet it's the arc I like least. Derek is a married man, for gosh sakes! (And Addison is hot, but that's beside the point.) I cannot sympathize with the guy, no matter how charismatic/tortured he is.
(Of course, in the season premiere, they imply that Addison had an affair first, but two wrongs don't make a right.)

Meredith's choice at the end of the ep certainly wasn't what was expected, but was probably the best choice for the show since they get to drag out (in a good way) the main romantic relationship of the show. Honestly though, I don't think they've done enough with McVet - he's *too* much the good guy! If they make him any more understanding he's going to take himself right out of the competition.
So it looks like they're going to bring Izzy back -- I hope it's not just that easy. I find it hard to believe she'd be let back in given what she did.
George catching Callie with the Chief was pretty funny though!

Liked the music from this ep. I want one of Izzy's muffins, they look pretty good. Didn't expect to see McMultiple Man (McSteamy) so soon, and certainly not that much of him. Must have been working out a lot with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants too

Last ep was almost felt like a crossover with "Heroes" with "Supergirl" being admitted to the hospital. The Hal Jordan message was awesome (being a big GL fan) and the Batman/Robin towel thing was funny.
I have a feeling I'm going to end up disliking Christine even more with Preston being laid up. It's so obvious she's afraid of being stuck with someone who isn't a brilliant surgeon anymore. Rather then being supportive of him, it's like she just wants her "brilliant surgeon boyfriend" back.

My take was that she's afraid of getting stuck with someone who wants to be mothered, and we've (she) seen how he interactis with his own, my read was that if he was hankering for a second mom, that he was going to be sorely mistaken because she's not having it. Cristina's incredibly flawed, brilliant, but flawed, which to me is what makes her so endearing. She also knows she' flawed and at times you can tell she wants to correct it but doesn't know how, and at other times she couldn't give a rat's ass, lol.

I agree with Bubble Wrap Boy. That's what makes Gray's so good. All the characters are flawed in some way but in more humane, character driven flaws that reflect more true life, not like the character of the week in most shows that come in and everything is honky dory by the end.
All the chararters from Christina to Meredith to Derek all know about their flaws and to what exactly what Bubble Wrap Boy said above -sometimes they know but don't know how to fix it and at other times just don't care.

I dont get these romance shows the concept is so dumb. They have jiggy jig gets busted. He either goes back to his wife or they take off together to some other town. Thats it! Thats how the world works you dont keep having moments if you both like each other you get together, None of this Ross Rachael crap where you dont hook up for 10 years even though you both want it. for frick sake have them run off to some other town and then it can all go springer for them when he hooks up with some new peice of fluff down the road.

Ah, PolarBoy, that's the difference between the real world and TV series. The sexual will-they-won't-they tension drives the show, as it has many shows over the years ("Moonlighting," anyone?).
I'm as stunned as anyone that I actually like "Grey's Anatomy" in spite of its formulaic setup. The characters are well rounded, capable of surprises, and easy to identify with (particularly George, who perpetually doesn't have a clue, and Miranda, whom nobody wants to cross but isn't as tough as she appears), and the dialogue is witty and spot-on. The show also spends a significant amount of time showing the patients' cares and tragedies, yet instilling a ray of hope (as with the disfigured salesman in this week's ep.).
Even when the outcome of a plotline is inevitable, there is something about it that rings true. Meredith's decision between McDreamy and McVet was one such inevitable moment, but what it revealed about each character surprised me.
Plus, I'm also wondering what Izzy's going to do with all that money ...

Just not into this like I was the first two seasons. Plus with the cast self-destructing off-camera the show is bound to suffer. Maybe I'll catch the repeats this summer but, for now, CSI (the original) is much better.

I'm a little behind in my episodes, but last week's show seemed extended. I only set my VCR to tape for one hour. It stopped at the point Christina just left the Chief's office, "ratting" out Burke before Burke could and then she was out in the hall sitting on the floor as Dr. Hahn walked by and told her she was lucky to be under Burke's tutelage. Did I miss much after that?

You can check out old episodes on abc.com - I don't remember exactly what happened after that myself. These past two episodes have been really good though - the story with Burke ended up affecting almost all the characters in some way and it's been a lot more meaningful than the whole love triangle thing with Meredith

Indeed. I'm glad Meredith and Derek have "found" each other (for now?). The resolution of their arc enables the show to focus on the other characters to great effect. Cristina's betrayal of Burke and the fallout of that has been one of the high points of the series so far.

I'm surprised nobody's chatting up this show here now that we're a few new episodes into the New Year and especially since stupid Issiah Washington's controversial comments.
Regarding last Thursday, did anyone else's jaw drop when Burke said: "Marry me."
Interesting note about the George proposal. The mother of a once good friend of ours died and our friend had a guy who had been pursuing her for some time. He took her to the funeral and when she came back she was engaged to him! Weeks before she told us she was physically repulsed by him! I still don't believe she's a happy woman, but who am I to say? They're still together and with 3 kids, but grief can do strange things.

This season just hasn't interested me at all. Loved last year. Plus they put it on against CSI. Sorry but that's like expecting me to chose between 24 and Heroes. Oh, wait...
