Has there been a game where we cast an imaginary Legion movie? I see Jennifer Connelly as Apparition. (I know she's too old, but if movie studios can cast thirty-somethings as teenagers, so can I!)

i like these threads !!!

there are quite a lot of actors that i think would be great as movie Legionnaires !!!

most of them fit into different versions of the team, through the years ....

like a film version of "Legion Lost" or the "Five Year Gap" etc !!!

i'll have to remember who i picked for which character and then get back !!!

Matthew.

Scarlett Johansen as Saturn Girl. The only teenaged blonde actress with enough depth for a role like that.

Keiran Culkin as Live Wire/Lightning Lad.

Reese Witherspoon would make a good Dreamer/Dream Girl.

A 5YG Legion movie should have Kevin Sorbo as Jo Nah.

Of course, I'm on record as saying that the Legion should be made as a soap opera, not as a theatrical film.

i think Olivier Martinez as he looked in "Unfaithful" would be perfect as Olivier Coipel's version of Ultraboy !!!

and the guy that was in "Charlie's Angels 2" and "Love Actually" would be pretty good too !!!

and for a younger version of Jo, i see Josh Hartnett tongue ......

Matthew.

I'm always terrible at these things because I have no idea who most of these modern actors and actresses are. I like the Elijah Wood joke but I don't think he's buff enough to play Lyle.

Another group I'm in held a "Pitch the Legion Movie" contest last summer. You could have an entry in three different eras: The Silver Age, Now, or any time in-between. You were to submit a "pitch" of 1000 words or less and include your cast (exempted from the 1000 word limit).

I came up with three different movies, one set in 1963, one in 1983, and one more-or-less today. This let me get past my lack of familiarity with contemporary actors since I was able to use actors from the past for the 63 and 83 movies and I cast the 2003 movie with porn and soap actors, groups I'm VERY knowledgable about!

I'll post them over in the Bits folder since they fall under the fan fiction category.

Kevin Sorbo as TMK Jo. I like that one.

No offense, but I can't get into Sorbo. It's like casting Fabio as M'onel, imo. I can't offer up a better solution though, but I'll think on it...

Well, Sorbo won't be winning any acting awards (some say he hired Keith Hamilton Cobb on Andromeda so that he'd look talented in comparison) but he's got a sense of humor and can laugh at his own persona. Plus he always surrounds himself with cute blond sidekicks.

THIS JUST IN TO WORLDNET ON THE NEWS WIRE!

A superstar producer has bought the rights to produce a new live action feature film. Because of the popularity of the Superman, Batman, Spider-man, & X-Men movies, DC has agreed to a feature film package based on their popular, futuristic team of young super heroes? The Legion!

We here at LegionWolrd have been chosen (naturally) to hire the cast. Since this is certain to be a blockbuster movie event, every actor and actress that has EVER been on TV or the silver screen is pounding at our doors in order to get a shot at one of the roles.

------------

Wouldn?t that be great!

Okay, here?s how this is going to work. I will post the name of the current role that is being cast. The first ten (or so) nominees will be listed in a corresponding poll over at the Vote-O-Matic Forum.

You can nominate any actor you wish. He or she does not have to be one of the current youngsters in the movies. For the purposes of this thread the nominees will be considered as they appeared when they were in the late teens or early twenties.

The key here is to cast the celebrity that looks most like we envision our Legionnaires. If you think that an 18 year old Ricky Nelson would have been the perfect Lightning Lad, then post his name! Likewise if you think a 16 year old Liz Taylor would be the perfect Phantom Girl or that Ryan Phillippe is the ideal Element Lad.

The only thing I ask is the following. If you nominate someone that?s not SO well known that everyone would know what they looked like at that age, try to point us to a picture of them to view. Better yet post it along with your nomination. Then we can all see what a great casting director you truly are! laugh

Got it? Good! Well then, let?s begin. The first role to be cast will be one of our Founders?

Rokk Krinn aka Cosmic Boy.

(Nominations will remain open until May 12 or until we have ten nominees, whichever comes first.)

While everyone else thinks about it I'll throw some other names into the mix to consider for the role of Rokk (or is that the Rokk of role?):

Scott Wolf (of Party of Five fame)
Jason Gedrick (Iron Eagle, Backdraft,etc)

I'll try to add pics and maybe some more nominees later.

I have to nominate Collin Farrell. Check him out in Minority Report for a good Cosmic Boy type.

Also, tho' typical, Tom Cruise in Rsky Business.

I know it's past the deadline. But I thought I could squeak in there. wink

Just spouting off.

I know Legion of Superheroes: The Movie has been cast by fans a hundred times over but here's a novel twist on the topic:

Rather than a big budget hollywood flik, the legion is made as a low budget straight to video crap-fest. Which B-Z grade actors would you cast as your favourite superheroic teens of the future?

My List:

Corey Feldman as LIVE WIRE
Shannon Doherty as DREAMER
Jason Patric as COSMIC BOY
Dougie Howser as INVISIBLE KID
Barry Williams (he was Greg Brady) as M'Onel
Judd Nelson as ULTRA BOY
and the Ultra-Kewl Kirk Cameron as MATTER-EATER LAD

Hmmm...interesting twist on this! Here are the one's that come to mind off the top of my head. I'll have to think some more about others. (Not sure if you would consider most of these B actors, but they're certainly not Academy Award winners either laugh ):

Cosmic Boy ~ David Lasher
Lightning Lad ~ Andrew Shue
Saturn Girl ~ Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy)
Princess Projectra ~ Jennie Garth (90210)
Triplicate Girl ~ (oldest daughter from Eight Is Enough)
Phantom Girl ~ Alyssa Milano (Charmed)
Invisible Kid ~ Matt Lawrence
Mon-El ~ James Marsden (X-Men)
Brainiac 5 ~ "Doogie Howser"
Sunboy ~ Mark-Paul Gossalear (sp) (Saved By The Bell)
Element Lad ~ Christopher Atkins (Blue Lagoon)
Dream Girl ~ Heather Locklear
Ultra Boy ~ Joey Lawrence (Blossom)
Star Boy ~ Barry Watson (7th Heaven)
Colossal Boy ~ Jeremy London (Party of Five)
Timber Wolf ~ David Boreanaz (Angel)
Chemical King ~ Jason Gedrick (Iron Eagle 1)
Matter Eater Lad ~ Kirk Cameron
Shadow Lass ~ (can't think of her name, but the actress from "King of Queens")
Mysa Nal ~ Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina The Teen Age Witch)

Nice list Varalent

Just a few additions to mine:

Emilio Estevez as Star Boy

Denise Richards as Phantom Girl

Tori Spelling as Saturn Girl

Luke Perry as Sun Boy

John Stamos as T-Wolf

Is it just me or are there more crappy B-grade male actors than female?

Every one of these threads, when they come along, makes me feel old and decrepit. Because I can't even identify two-thirds of the actors and actresses mentioned, by remembering either their appearance or what they've recently performed.

The same is true, o'course, for not following every act in (currently) popular music. That kind of feeling-out-of-it normally kicks in by your mid-30s, though, rather than your mid-40s. You give up on the current tunes sooner than the current TV and movies, but it comes eventually, kids, it comes.

I guess that's a roundabout way of saying that as you get older, you realize that life is too short to pay much attention to the B-to-Z grades of anything. You'll never get through all the A work on your CD shelf or at the multiplex.

All that being said, the depth of casting some of you can come up with is -- again, as always -- amusing, and even a little enlightening. For those I've heard of, that is!
