2 weeks without the internet ..... how am i gonna survive !!

well hopefully not for a full 2 weeks !!

as of last week i cancelled my current broadband internet access [ gonna go with a new deal/contract someplace else ] but i wasn't able to join up to my new one, until the current one expires which they told me would be sometime on the 24th of March !!

it could be at any point in the day and until i am no longer "connected" i cannot join up to my new one !!

and when i do join up, they told me i would take up to 10 days or so, for everything to come through to me, so that means no internet for me at home !!

my idea had been for them to "cross" over each other, i didn't realise there would have been this problem !!

it will be really strange not being able to come here everyday [ even though i don't post all the time, i always check "LW" everyday !! ]

i'll be able able to use the system at work, but it's not gonna be the same, i can only really go on from time, to time !!

when i do get my new connection, i'll finally be able to use my Apple iBook and use it's wireless capabilty for going online

at the moment i'm still using my PC for the internet !!

Bummer about the waiting, but it sounds like it'll be a better setup overall.

That seems pretty strange, that they have to wait until the other one expires - and then 10 days wait after that. Maybe it's some law of physics - the connection service gets slower as computers get faster.

Should be a blast to have wireless, though!

well i'm still here at the moment !! it's currently 10pm in the UK, so i guess my connection will expire at midnight ??

It's to do with which ISP you're switching to/from. Some just use BT's basic infrastructure, and you can switch between them with minimal or even no loss of service. But if you're switching to (or from) any ISP who runs their own connections to the network, etc for whichever reason (e.g. Tiscali), you need to cancel and wait for them to reconnect you as a new customer, which takes time.
