And for once, it's not Miss T giving birth! My cat, Miss Vera Louise, would like for me to announce the births of (so far) four kittens!

Vera is only about a year old so I am surprised she's had this many.

I'd like to ask any other experienced cat owners for some advice though. She insisted on having the kittens in a very high-traffic and unsafe area of my home. Plus the 'man' of the home, Mr. Kevin MacDougal has decided that now's the right time to knock her up again.

So I'm keeping Kevin and Vera separated. I've also taken a large animal carrier and lined it warmly. I've placed mother and kittens in there. Does anyone see any problem with forcibly relocating a new, young mother and her kittens? Will she adjust to this? (of course I'm not going to keep the mother cat in lockup 24/7 but I do want her to adjust to the babies being in there)

Any advice is welcome.

Sorry, I know nothing about birthing kittens. I just wanted to congratulate you and Miss Vera Louise on the babies. I'll bet Fat Cramer knows a lot about this subject -- and Scott and Caroline too.

Um, if the cat wants to mate you'll have a problem, but my neighbor (Nancy Griffin,I call her catwoman) takes kittens all the time from were they were born, just make sure that the cats are comfortable, safe and that the mother is fine with the situation.

Nah, Kevin never gets mean. Vera either. He just caterwauls all through the night & yes he pees (ick!). But it will all resolve itself. He's getting fixed.

I actually found Kevin & Vera as abandoned, practically newborn kittens & bottlefed them. So, even if Vera rejects them for some reason, I can be mama. I just don't want to

Congratulations on the kittens!! Bright Blessings that they will be healthy and strong and contented. Hope the family lets you sleep, and that mommy takes to nursing and to mothering and that you don't have to do it. In my rose-colored glasses mode you would keep all of the kittens since you didn't get the mommy spayed, but if you don't keep them, I pray they get to go to great homes. I already asked Scott if we could come get one, or two, or three or four, but be said NO really loud. He thinks that four cats and two in-laws is enough around here. I'm happy to report that the mother has adjusted and looks to be doing her duty.

Believe it or not I wanted her to get preggers! I figured since she was so young she'd have 2 max. Shows what I know.

In time I may try to find 1 or 2 another home but, to tell you the truth, I'm a cat-soul (like you!) and I will probably keep them. BUT NO MORE!!! Six cats just seems nutty, though!

I'll say! I love cats to death...if I was closer to Georgia and actually was allowed to keep one at my apartment, I'd volunteer to take them all.

2 of the kittens are calico, and any cat that has three or more colors in its fur is always female. But once I know the gender of the other 2 we'll play some kind of kitty naming game.

One is white with black spots (like the daddy), 2 are white with carmel & black spots (like the mama), and one is white with carmel spots!
