Honestly, I didn't quite cheer, but seeing Wildfire in the Coipel suit did give me a glowy feeling smile I only wish the same could be said about Lar's cameo frown

One thing knocked me out of the story for a minute tho - "Naltorian pre-cogs." Post-boot Nura is the ONLY pre-cog on (Well, from) Naltor post-boot, and the first to be born in 7 generations. Very, very careless...

She wasn't wearing her touchstone (actually, neither Tinya nor Winema were). Fatal mistake...

Bgztlians don't have to wear a touchstone to activate their powers do they?

What's the deal with this story being set in 3003? Isn't the Legion always one thousand years ahed of us? If this took place in the past, it would explain Wildfire's costume, but the President being dead wouldn't fit (unless she gets better), and neither does M'on's costume or her reference to Darkseid.

I wonder if her mom's comment about Tinya being politically savy a foreshodowing of future events?

Well, it felt great to have a real story with narrative and multiple plots. I really hope that we can look forward to more of this, instead of a disappointing finale that doesn’t live up to the arc’s beginning. Something else else tells me I won’t be disappointed. I found the art to be very smooth. It carried the story well, and I certainly appreciate that. So, thanks Gail, Dan, & Andy!

Oasis One was sure a bad idea on the part of the government, but I suppose it serves the plot, as do the villains. I’m looking forward to seeing how everything works out.

I think Vi was taken down because she was being attacked with green energy. It wasn't her holding the cruiser that held her back, it was the apprehension of associating green energy with the emerald eye.

The thing that bothered me about Oasis One is that it seemed a step back from Takron-Galtos, which has already been reintroduced in the postboot. Why keep dangerous criminals like the Persuador in a floating platform over the Earth when you've got an entire planet to put them on?

He's been of asian descent off and on since he was introduced oh so many decades ago.

hmmm ... maybe the date anomaly, Wildfire's costume and the Naltorian pre-cog question are ripples of the Hypertime event to come. I mean, it couldn't possibly be careless editing, could it? nod

This issue came out in Toronto on my birthday (yesterday) and it was the best gift I got.

I've never read Gail's stuff before - I enjoyed it a lot. Especially the fact that it took longer to read than so many recent Legion issues. Actual dialogue instead of silent hordes of Legionnaires flying about (which we've all seen too much of recently).

My biggest quibble - NO TRIAD!!! Does this mean she won't appear at all in this arc? Would have been nice to see her in the Chuck/Gear scenes.

I loved the issue as a package (cover, story, colors, art) and I loved the fact even more that non-Legion folks were excited by it. I thought the story had a greater sense of suspense and danger than the last couple of Legion issues - which made it a lot funner read. Don't forget to bring this with you if you go to San Diego Con - Adam Hughes and Dan Jurgens is scheduled to be at there...I wonder if Gail's going?

Not to activate them, but they strengthen their powers by an unknown %.

I'd like to think that Nura made up the entire LEGIONNAIRES #43 nonsense, since she knew she wasn't going to join then. Maybe the entire ditzyness was an act.

I'd happily retcon it out. Unnecessary addition to the post-boot version just like Sneckie.

I wonder if there is a reason why the four villains are patterened after the heroes they are patterened after? Canary, Arrow, and Lantern make sense if you are going to mimic the Justice League, but Devil just kind of comes from nowhere. Is there a reason? Maybe Gail just liked Blue Devil? Still it seemed an odd (but intriguing) choice.

BTW, which Legion symbol does Devil cross out? It's kind of hard to tell. Both Violet and Chameleon went down, but I doubt either one is out for good. Maybe the goal of the group is to take out Legionnaire parents?

It's Violet. You can tell by the placement of symbols in the earler scene.

As to why Blue Devil, that is curious. Why not, say Black Lightinig or Red Tornado?

Color me crazy, but I'm betting that Devil is supposed to be the Batman analogue for this group. I can't put my finger on why exactly, something to do with the character's meticulous planing and generally sinister demeanor.

Oh, and as much as I loved this issue, am I the only one that's having trouble justifying buying the Legion these days due to the impending relaunch? I swear I only bought this issue for 2 reasons:

1) Gail Simone

2) the faint hope that Waid won't totally erase the last ten years of stories.

Things I liked...

...the fast pace of action
...the inclusion of Legionnaires other than the founding 3
...snappy dialogue
...Winema getting shot. That puts an extra wrinkle into the story
...the thing with Brainy's face implants

Things I couldn't figure out...

...the 3003 dating also threw me off
...building on the Oasis-1 discussion, there's a whole Universe out there that exists for them to put criminals in. heck, the moon would've been a better alternative.

Things I didn't like...

...Jurgens' art just fell flat for me. The pages didn't seem to have a lot of energy to them
...it reminded me a lot of the pre-boot "Mystic Wars" storyline where technology was also something that fell apart

I didn't get the "jump up on this table with me" thing at all. It seemed really odd and out of place.

I think it was done as a dig at Cosmic Boy. Cosmic Boy HATES it when people stand on furniture.

Plus the minor detail that it was her flower that was crossed out...

Well, yeah, but, as SLK pointed out, it's obscured and not so easy to tell which symbol it is. I was pointing to the clearer depiction.

But it is odd that they would cross out a Legionnaire simply for "bringing them down". Knocking out Legionnaires seems like a rather odd goal. Do they think she'd dead? Or is their goal just to show that they can defeat the Legionnaires?
