We have a new forum, and I believe the time is right for a new Tournament. The X-Men offer a wide-range of characters with unique powersets. Since this is a new forum, this may be the biggest Tournmament yet. I have decided that I would like each team to contain five characters because that was the number on the original team. In honor of X-Men being in publication for 50 years, I also think there should be a total of 50 teams. Therefore, I have spent the last few hours compiling a list of 250 X-Men related characters.
Of course, if the usual voting system seems to complicated for something this grand; we could try our hands at creating our own teams from this pool of characters. If you are interested, please let me know what you think as soon as possible.

WOW! 50 teams of 5 characters sounds awesome!
How do you plan to organize teams? By comics affiliation, or randomly?
Maybe we can propose teams, but I'm really not sure how to go about that...

I was intending to use a randomly selected sample. I will try to have at least one representative of each gender per team.
Or, if the demand is high to choose our own teams from the pool. I will group characters by skills (such as leadership) and powers (such as bricks). I would post a set of characters at a time, and then users would pick their own teams through a series of drafts. Then during the matches people would write a brief description as to why their team would win, and then everyone can vote. People would send the descriptions to me first in order to prevent cheating, and if I participate in the Tournament I would send my descriptions to you.

The second option sounds fun, but I'm not sure if we have enough participants who can commit to that. I think we can get more players with the first option (randomly selected sample). It could be like your past LSH and LSV games.

I will do as you suggest. I will have the teams sorted out by tomorrow morning. Once the thread is complete, this thread will mostly serve to comment on battles, ask about character's powers, and settle any issues.

Nice work putting this together, Emily.
Just some Qs on the characters:
1) In general, do we assume characters are at their latest status in the comics? SO depowered characters would be depowered unless shown that they have access to tech (e.g. Blackwing III)? 2) I know it's a lot of work, but characters like Renascence (Sofia Mantega), Black Bishop I (Harry Leland) are more known by their real names. Maybe we should put those names? 3) Team Lime Green mentions a Rusty. Is that Rusty Collins? 4) You have Stryfe listed twice: under both Team Sun and Team Sea.

1) You should assume the characters are at their latest status unless otherwise noted. 2)If you can make a list of what characters are better known by real names, I will change them. I am unfamiliar with some of the characters on this list. 3) The Rusty on the list was a member of the Hellions. 4) Thank you for pointing that out. I have replaced the second Stryfe with the Exiles version of Quentin Quire.

Thanks, Emily!
Re #2, I don't know if everyone else who would like to play knows these characters more by their real names. I think this would be most true for the depowered mutants who later joined the New Warriors, and also for Hellfire Club members. I'd suggest keeping the names you put but just adding a parenthesis with the other name.
Tempest V - Angel Salvadore Blackwing III - Beak Skybolt - Redneck Renascence - Sofia Mantega/Wind-dancer Ripcord - Stacy X Agent Brand - suggest putting the whole name, Agent Abigail Brand Black Bishop - Harry Leland Black Rook I - Fredrich von Roehm Gemini III - Madison Jeffries

re Rusty, I couldn't find reference to a Rusty who was a member of the Hellions. perhaps you meant Rusty Collins, former paramour of Skids?
Also, the only Betty Braddock I could find appeared not to have any powers.

I think that might be him. It appears you are right about Psylocke too. If there is not an alternate version of Psylocke, then I might have to substitute her out after the first round.
Should I keep it open until Saturday or wait for a third voter?

I think 3 voters for Round 1 would be better? If not, I guess we could tally based on your vote and mine, then figure out what to do with teams that tied?

I am going to close voting this Saturday at midnight. Please get your votes in by then, if there is a major time zone difference (I am on Central Time) or you need help, please PM your votes to me.

Thanks for the hard work on the tournament, Emily. Just wondering, at some point will you be shuffling the team members around? Maybe when we have about 50 characters left? Was thinking it would make the rounds much more interesting.

Hi Emily, are you planning to continue the game? I think more people would join in when the number of characters has been reduced.

I would like to continue the game, but I am concerned that there are not enough people playing to justify it. Do you think I should count the votes/break ties from last round and move forward?

I think that would be a good idea. Another alternative is to PM all the other players of your previous tournaments to see if they would like to play, and if they do not respond within a week, to go ahead and continue the game.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I could continue the Tournament from where we left off. Do you think I should rearrange the teams or start anew since it has been awhile?

I have decided to close voting on May 1st. Please get your votes in before 12:00 P.M on May 1st. If there is a technical difficulty or time zone difference or anything else that makes it impossible for you to submit your vote at that time, please PM me your vote.
