Hey all,

so over in The alternate Legionaries thread, a challenge was created. But I thought maybe it be fun to do as its own threat.
The challenge is to create alternate legionaries. But the catch is you can not choose the character you want to remake. Now you must remake a character that someone else has chosen for you.

Here are some guidelines.


1. the last person to post chooses the next re-imagining. But it has to be done at the end of a re-imagining. (i.e. you don't choose a re-imaging if your just commenting on someone else work.)

2.anyone can take it on. but at the end of their post they must choose the next one.


The first charcter up for a make over is Crystal Kid.

This thread might get more notice over in Spaceopoly, Omni It's a good idea though.

For Crystal Kid, I really like his ability to create and control crystal. Too many crystalline heroes just have the hard crystal bodies. I'd make him a crystal being whose structures are an extension of his body; he can grow, shrink, duplicate himself, transfer his consciousness into other crystal items. If he shatters he can reconstruct himself. He'd be nearly invulnerable, though of course if he melts or is disintegrated or his pieces are scattered around he might have a hard time.

Anyone want to reimagine Kinetix?

Zoe Saugin has the power to steal and redirect kinetic energy.

A gunman might fire a burst of bullets at her, and they slow as she robs them of energy, and then transfers it to his gun hand, knocking the weapon from his hand entirely. Another man leaps at her, intending to knock her to the ground, but freezes in midair, floating there, as she even prevents him from falling to the ground. The more he struggles, the more kinetic energy she gains, to use push other crooks around, to lend a bit of a boost to an ally's physical movements, or to enhance her own apparent speed or strength, as his efforts are added to her own.

Next, re-imagine Night Girl!

Night Girl can absorb light around here to create absolute darkness. Absorbing this light enables her to use it to fuel her body, granting speed, strength, stamina and durability. She can also fire bursts of light from her hands, and of course she can see in the dark.

Next, re-imagine Chameleon!

All of these are pretty cool so far.

Love the take on Kinetix and Crystal Kid. (Which makes me realize that is how Iceman over in X-men should be!)

Crystal Kid is pretty powerful! Nice job!

Chameleon is a private detective working the Gotham beat in the 30th century. A master of disguise. He uses the latest technology, such as holo projectors and image inducers to help him conceal his true identity. but he also has an innate ability to blend in with the shadows. Never taking the same disguise twice Chameleon has made a name for himself solving some of the greatest crimes the 30th century has to offer; such as the case of the missing Spear of Destiny by infiltrating the latest incarnation of the Brother Blood Clan.

Thank you, Omni! Looking at my post it looks like I took the iceman concept and went more than a bit further!

Interesting to see Chameleon as a P.I. type instead of a superhero. Fits in with his crafty nature.

I also love the take on Kinetix. Still very powerful, I can imagine Zoe reveling in the use of her powers.

Gazelle has the power to generate bursts of speed, agility and strength - but she needs to consume plants to do it first. Leaves, roots, what have you. Thankfully, her mutation also affected her bodily systems. She can digest plant matter safely. She has horns too, so watch out for her headbutt!

Next: Gates

Gates is a member of an armadillo-like burrowing species that has the ability to open doorways through any solid matter, causing it to part seamlessly as if it were fluid, and remain open for passage as long as Gates wishes, before sealing shut seamlessly, leaving no trace of his passage. He can open these portals both in vertical and horizontal surfaces, even opening pits to engulf those standing before him, and sealing them up, leaving foes trapped with only their heads sticking up from the ground.

Next: Lamprey

Lamprey was bitten by a vampire centuries ago, though has been trying very hard notto feed on humans. Luckily for her, she is able to sustain herself very well on animal blood. She has all the classic vampire powers, though she uses them to great effect - she can survive in the most inhospitable environments, such as snowy mountaintops, arid deserts, and the bottom of the sea.

Next: Shrinking Violet

Salu Digby was not the most powerful adept on Zerox, but her special talent was botanical spells. With the right plants, she was capable of a wide range of spells. She has even made up some magical effects from plants that no one else has. The first and most powerful of her spells involves using a common violet to shrink anyone or anything down to any size.

Next: Bouncing Boy

Physics prodigy Chuck Taine was thrown into a storage tesseract as a child by his desperate mother, as their home began to fall off of a cliff during a seismic event.

Their home was destroyed, but, inside the extradimensional pocket of the storage tesseract, Chuck was blissfully unaware that anything was wrong, until the power to the tesseract failed, and the entire pocket dimension collapsed in upon itself!

Somehow, the brilliant youth calculated a mathematical formula that allowed him to find his way out of the collapsing pocket dimension, to reappear atop the hillside where his family home once stood, overlooking its wreckage in the ravine below.

His mind somehow altered by his unusual experiences in the collapsing sub-dimension, his already impressive talent for mathematics increased to something uncanny, and he developed the talent to rewrite laws of momentum in his head, causing any moving object to alter it's course and begin moving at the same velocity in an entirely different direction, with no loss of momentum. He called this event 'bouncing,' and with a small calculation, taking only fractions of a second, he could redirect any moving object in his sight, including himself!

With a wave of his hand, and his trademark 'Yoink!', he turned his powers to good as Bouncing Boy!

Next: Nightwind.

This is a very creative origin! Two thumbs up!

Berta Skye Harris can turn her body into the wind... but only at night. During the day, she remains trapped in a coma. When night falls, she makes the most of her freedom by just enjoying the sheer thrill of living.

I really like Shrinking Violet. I like the combo of magic and her original power set.

Love Gates as an armadillo. I like that no matter what no one ever sees him as humanoid!
He's also pretty powerful. Good Job!


and Lampry is cool. the vampire angel is a cool idea.

The monk of Nanda Parbat did not know where the small baby left outside their temple came from. The monks named the boy "Reep" which means Unkown in their language. As the baby grew into a toddler then a child and then a youth, he learned much from the monks, How to fight, how to balance his life energies, and how to misdirect.

When he was 14, Reep expressed a desire to explore the world beyond Nanda Parbat. So one of the monks guided Reep out of Nanda Parbat and into the world of 31st century Earth. Reep eventually reached Metropolis where he learned of the Legion of Superheroes. His power to misdirect got him in when he was able to come up and surprise Saturn Girl.

He adopted the code name "Chameleon" as one further misdirection. The Legion's foes and the general public think that his superpower is shape shifting.

Next: Calorie Queen

Gates opening portals through matter is a very interesting concept! And a very radical take on an existing character. Sounds Morrison-y.

Calorie Queen can command food. Ever seen a bottle of ketchup squeeze itself into someone's eye, or onions roll on the floor and trip someone? She can do that!


Next: Monstress

Lar Gand endured 1,000 years in the Phantom Zone, but he was very happy to be free and being the Legionnaire known as Mon-el. Being invulnerable made him a little cocksure, so he thought nothing of flying through that strange cosmic cloud. But once through, the change it wrought was immediately apparent. Lar Gand was now female. Sun Boy jokingly started calling Lar "Monstress".


Brainiac 5 analyzed the cloud, but could not account for the transformation. Pro-Masc did not work to make Lar male again. Even the most potent spells on Zerox could not reverse the effects. Lar was stuck as a girl. She adopted the joke name of Monstress and dared Brainiac 5 to say that a mission was now too dangerous for a girl.

Next: Princess Projectra

Ha! I love Monstress! Sounds like Mon-El flew into the Daxamite equivalent of Red Kryptonite (only, like his reaction to lead, the effects were permanent!).

at the Monstress idea! That was wonderful!

Princess Projectra has turned the psychological defense mechanism of projection into a deadly weapon. She is such a skilled manipulator that she can coerce anyone into doing anything she wants by projecting her desires and wishes onto them, and making them think they desire those themselves. It is currently unknown whether she has any meta-powers that help her in this, because whenever anyone starts to investigate they suddenly find themselves unwlling to continue further...

Next: Dream Girl

Love Montress. wicked funny!

Quis you Chameleon is also really good! i really like the misdirection power and that would be great during any spy mission he would take on!

She walks through the worlds gathering the dreams of every sentient and bringing them to life. Using her gifts to make dreams a reality she has granted many their deepest hearts desire and many a nightmare to those whose hearts were black as night.


Unable to control her gifts at first; she had been the savior and the destroyer of worlds only doing what comes naturally creating chaos ever in her dreaming wake.

Finally learning control around her 13th life, she found herself in the presence of a world that needed her help. She found the world Naltor in complete disarray. The people had lost all hope, vision and direction. Unable to bear the pain of their dreams she gave them the one thing she could, hope. She gave every bit of her gift to give the people hope and the ability to dream. But her gift turned the people into prophets, able to see the future. This however came with a price. She lost her abilities and was made mortal. No longer able to make dreams reality, she only retained a fraction of her power, allowing her to create peoples desires in illusion only. Still not possessing a name, she wandered amongst her new world. Searching for a name, a place., a home. Her new people eventually just took to calling her Dream Girl.

Next up: Wave

Wave can generate feelings of liking, admiration and devotion in anyone simply by being nice and waving to them. The more she waves, the more the devotion is strengthened.

Next: Infectious Lass

Infectious Lass is the twin sister of Wave. Bless with an infectious smile, she can instill good feeling into anyone. When turn to full force, she can cause a euphoria that leaves the person unable to do anything for one hour.

Next: Polar Boy
