That looks like a cool place and right up my alley! Well, whatcha' waitin' for? Hey, does Lady Cobalt like beer, too? Bring her along. I'm sure Pickles won't mind watching the kids for one evening.

Swinging by the convenience store to pick up some apple-flavored beer for the evening!

Tried a couple of beers from a local brewery called Upright yesterday. They are new to me and I was at a new bar, so I figured why not... There was a Harvest Ale (brown) and a Pilsner. Both pretty tasty. I laughed when I went to their main page and discovered that their name is an allusion to Charles Mingus and the Upright bass. Also, they have a beer called "Hops And The Abstract Truth," an obvious nod to jazz composer Oliver Nelson. That is so very, very Portland. (Along with alluding to their "lite" being a direct attempt to clone "the king of beers" without actually getting sued.)

I love when local breweries show that kind of creativity!
I'm still enjoying Sam Adams Octoberfest, my favorite of all the call beers. I've been a little under the weather this week so a light dinner, one of those and then under the covers in bed has been my routine to get some rest. (For me, wine doesn't tire me out but gets me amped up; beer has a more relaxing effect).

Sam Adams is my "airport" beer. Not that I've done much travel in the last century. When I don't know what beers to trust in a foreign state, I always go with Sam Adams.

I grabbed a Kirin (Japanese beer) the other day. It goes well with the cooler weather in Osaka and Kyoto, but still tastes pertty good in the humid Manila climate.
