Sorry to hear that, thothkins. Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, and it's very frustrating when it does the opposite.

Whoo Peebz! The lean mean fighting machine is up!!!

It would be natural air conditioning if they had windows that opened...but they don't.

They need some new signal technology.

I'll try to think up a good question soon.

Nope, I've read those. I haven't finished team of rivals yet, i think it is miss-hyped.

IB I am on a Washington DC, spy, politics, news reading frenzy lately.

Certainly sounds like an interesting set of topics to read about. I think I'm going to look up these books you listed.

Aha! So you haven't read it all the way through in the last year then?

yeah ok, ah'm a guessin', ah'm a guessin'...

7. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold: A George Smiley Novel - for the cunning reason that although it's a George Smiley novel, it's not one of the trilogy that you also mention...

I've read 8 and 7.

7 Spy who came in from the cold has a brutal ending. There is a film but I haven't managed to track it down yet.

8 "Hard News" is fascinating and a bit scary.

I've not finished Team of Rivals. I don't think the people who hyped it ... actually read it.

I'm thinking of a book I have not yet even started. Which dosn't really help since it is a collection of random sameness to choose from. But not so many choices.

I'll give you a freebie ... I've not yet finished:

2. Circle of Treason: CIA Traitor Aldrich Ames and the Men He Betrayed

But I read about half and it is not the one I am thinking of. It was good but ... I was reading it on my ipad and ... it got put down in the events of getting a kindle for xmas.

It is the real story of a cia mole ... who turned over loads of agents to the kgb. There is a tv show now based on the true story called the Assets.

omg

it is 5.

5. The Kingdom and the Power: Behind the Scenes at The New York Times: The Institution That Influences the World

That's not even in my Omnicom yet!

Many of the others came highly recommended.

The George Smiley novels are by John Le Carre, spy novels about a guy who used to be a spy ... posing as a diplomat ... which is a super big no no. but they are interesting and have a different take than the james bond or jason bourne type spies.

Most of the news ones and washington books came from running into a very super helpful lady at the book store who was really excited to help me because no one ever asks her about American politics.

Over to YOU IB!

m) Puerto Prinsesa Subterranean River - because you've read all those mystery novels where people are bumped off on spelunking "accidents" - Oh, and Maxwell Lord not saving his boss in JLI #11/12

I brought a life jacket, don't worry. It was nice, and the caverns and limestone formations were quite pretty. Thankfully, no mysterious or undiscovered life forms showed up!

Let's remove another choice...

Blaze and I have visited Puerto Galera together twice. The second time, we met this dreamy Filipino with Spanish ancestry. Mmmm. but that's a story for another time...

a) The Chocolate Hills of Bohol - either due to seismic activity putting them out of bounds when you could have gone, or that they were eaten before you got there. They have been replaced, as an attraction, by the giant spoon of Bohol.

I was able to visit. They're quite chocolate-y, though with a slight dusting of dirt...

h) Anilao (one of the best dive sites in the country) either because it's a really deep dive or the Nautilus is picking off visitors from the depths.

It's a deep dive, but I haven't gone that deep. I think I made it to a depth of 30 meters or so.
