Yeah, I know what you mean Indy frown It's hard and expensive to eat healthy!

The only way I manage it is when I cook my own food, or have it cooked at home. Easier said than done though, especially if you live alone or in a dorm room or there are no groceries nearby.

Eight years ago on Ash Wednesday (as it is today) I decided I was going to try losing weight. I succeeded at what I tried to do and lost 67 pounds and kept it off for over two years.

Then, as many of you know, my life got very complicated. Almost every part of my life (work, family, church, home) had some kind of upheaval. The stress hit me and I responded in the way I was most accustomed: I ate. I gained back everything I lost, plus a few.

This morning, I started a new plan. I'm using the Lose It! app, which has had very good reviews.

This thread helped me then. I hope it will work now as well smile

Rationing Roy Reports...

Lost another pound this week. "Pshaaaw!" You might say, or spelling variations thereof.

But I increased my calorie intake by over 10% (admittedly I have a whole two weeks worth of data to go on here) and got improvements towards RDAs particularly for fibre. So there!

I'd blow raspberries, but I might have eaten them already as part of my increase in fruit & veg. smile

A bit to go on the fibre, but I don't want my LW name to be Flatulence Lad, so definitely slow and easy.

I did feel a bit light early in the week. Not light headed, just light. It wasn't a great feeling so I'm glad I'm losing this slowly. I ate more for the rest of the week, but will perhaps have to spread those calories around a little better.

The regularity seems to be working fine. Spending some extra time cooking again is fun too.

I did have fast food on the Wednesday though. Partly due to where I was, but mainly because I wanted to. It's not something I have often. So it's not much of a downward spiral when you only have the one step to fall off of.

This meant I was slightly over my fat RDA for the week. What actually edged it over was a small vegetarian steak pie at the weekend. Or rather, a second one. It turns out that it doesn't matter if it's vegetarian when there's "Pie" in it's title. smile

Oh, and a reminder to watch those portions, I guess.

Staying snack free was fine this week, as I was eating more anyway. No real change in exercise though, which I'll have to look at. Bah!

Good going thothy!

I'm not keeping track of the numbers so much. But just earlier this Feb, I was able to wear a button-down shirt that was too tight for me last December!

I need to be better. I go weeks behaving, eating right and exercising then have a rough week and wind up having a late night pizza with the girlfriend (like tonight, right now).

Thanks! I'm hoping that the numbers will ease off in a few months when I'm settled into this. I felt the simple way was just to read what's in the things I eat and plan it out, to get the best balance. Besides, it turns out the planner is good for getting just the right shopping too.

This is why I wear sackcloth. It don't care if you're like a stick or if you're like Colossal Boy after a rough night at a kebab warehouse. It will always be the same shape. Yes, sackcloth! Order yours today from Friar Tuck's Tailoring. smile

The first week is usually the biggest loss. After this, it will probably be between one and three pounds per week.

I'm using the Lose It! app to keep track of calories and such. I'm going to the gym almost every day for some time on the elliptical. I'm also trying to limit sweets and alcohol.

Calorie Kid Comments...

Another 2 pounds gone this week, bringing me to just under half way.

Once again, I was eating more (calorie count around the same as last week) but at regular times and with more healthy contents.

I had two pints of ale and nothing else from the verboten list all week.

I've some annual leave coming up, so I'll focus on getting some decent exercise into my daily routine, as that's been a bit lacking.

I found keeping the planner going a bit of a chore towards the end of the week. I still ate what I should have, but found it a little bit of a pain to fill in the numbers.

I got a little bored with my normal salads and now have a passing addiction to a little coronation chicken with it. It's easily the most unhealthy thing in my diet right now. The odd thing is I've not had it for years and years, so I'm not sure what got me to buy it.

I've lost two more pounds, for a total so far of eight.

I was feeling a difference yesterday, so I had a sneaky check and I'm on course for another two off this week. lots of scurrying around this week for various reasons.

As for me, have managed to do two workouts this week despite plenty of work.
