Why so silent good monsieurs?
Did you think that I had left you for good?
Have you missed me good monsieurs?
I have written you an opera!

Well, actually, more of a novel.

It has worked out to be a little over one hundred fifty thousand words. It is a little daunting, I admit.

I have an inclination to post a little scene each week, one thousand to fifteen hundred words. Two years in installments!

I should live so long.

I intend to post every Thursday or Friday without fail. You may post feedback here, or within the individual posts.

Dori Aandraison, the Rainbow Girl, has been good company during my long convalescence. Her story just sort of spun itself out.

This is the first draft, unedited, uncut.

It may become rather tedious for you.

But there is really no one else I can think of who would have any interest in it at all.

Still I hope you will enjoy Dori’s adventures in the 31st century.

This is really neat. Were any of the characters in previous threads in here? The name Chip is distantly familiar to me. Rainbow Girl is one of my favorite characters so I will be reading. I actually came up with some of my own ideas for children of Rainbow Girl, so if you ever would like to collaborate on something, please let me know!

Emily Sivana:

I imagine this will be a very different Dori than you have envisioned.

I took Mr. Johns at his word, that Dori has a mysterious connection to the Emotional Spectrum, and does not really understand her powers. More will be revealed in Book One: Chapter Three.

Dori married the wealthy Irveang Polamar, but was tragically widowed as a relatively young woman. I imagine that her love for Irveang was real, and the loss has left her heartbroken. Unable to move on to another relationship as yet, children are therefore not really part of her immediate future.

Her continuing connections with the Polamar family will be further explored in this extended fanfic.

You once expressed an interest in collaborating on a Rainbow Girl / Color Kid team-up. Unfortunately, I ended up writing a couple all by myself! Ulu will also show up in Dori’s story again some time in the future.

Dori’s turn in the U.P. Diplomatic Corps started when she teamed up with Ulu, in the matter of the Legion of Substitute Heroes and Throon. Her ambassadorial career lasted nearly a decade, but ended before the current story begins.

Come to think of it, perhaps you could point me to your list of Dori’s kids: with your permission, they might visit Earth-K as adults from an alternate dimension in a couple of years. (First Life Time)

Or, perhaps we could co-create another paracosm for Dori.

This is Dori’s story, so any appearances of other characters are only as second-tier actors. There are ten trillion Terrans in the known Galaxy, and uncounted trillions more humanoid aliens, so the chances of meeting old friends are… actually, pretty good. We will definitely be seeing a little more of the gang at Lightning Ring Farms—the extended family may be larger than you imagine!

Batch SW6 exists in this paracosm, which means there are two sets of the Three Founders, and many possibilities for permutations of generations. The Batch SW6 characters, teaming with others, eventually evolve into something similar to the Reboot Legion, known on Earth-K are ‘Legion 1.5’. At the point where our story begins, the adventures in the Kwaiverse and with Robotica have already occurred.

And, of course, in ten years or so, Pol II will go on to join Legion 2.O as ‘Magnet Boy’. But that is outside the scope of this novel.

Feel free to share about your health problems any time, Klar. If you need a listening ear to vent, I'm here.

Loved your story, Klar. The mentions of Zoe and Jazmin existing in this reality warm my heart, as are the mentions of the whole Legion 1.5.

Chip! Nice to see a part of Blok. I'm loving the scenes with the kids, always nice to see the family lives of the Legionnaires.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Yuletide!

Also love the friendship between Dori and Lydda, so natural.

Might I also suggest you link between your two threads? That will help keep either from being buried in the forum, there is a lot of activity in Bits now smile

Please overlook the codenames; they are painful for me to look at in retrospect. I don't know what I was thinking.

I was thinking initially of doing a story involving the oldest child being kidnapped by a villain looking for the Lantern entities. Other kids at the Legion Academy would be sent to rescue him as everyone else is busy or maybe the Legion proper disbanded.

Though when I think about it a mercenary story involving the youngest son would probably be the funnest to write. I can see him sort of running away from home to join a mercenary squad. He would be a bit like Ed from "Cowboy Bebop"; the kid everyone underestimates until they need him.

The writer of fiction, no matter how edgy or unorthodox, is stuck with a simple and unalterable truth.

Literature is, inescapably, an act of seduction, whether the writher hopes to seduce millions with a story of an adolescent vampire in love, or a handful of readers, wh are willing to take a darker, stranger, more enigmatic ride.

Which involves a certain element of what I’ll call: You Won’t Believe What Happened Next.

-- Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize Winner for The Hours (1998)

I realize that I am writing for a very small audience: only three or four. But I am sure that of the seven billion other inhabitants of Earth-Prime, there are very, very few-- if any-- who would be interested in my take on 'Rainbow Girl'.

So, I post here. In bite-sized chunks.

So with Book Six we finally get a super-hero battle... but it occurs "off-panel".

Well, there are plenty of other stories on the board with swell hero-on-villain action. Dori just has a quieter life.

Right now.

The Rainbow Girl series was written while I was extremely bored in Arkham the hospital between November 2014 and March 2015.

Unfortunately, it was written out longhand in notebooks provided by my grand-daughter.

It is taking me quite some time to transcribe it all into electronic format.

But hey, what better hobby for an old man to pursue?

Dori is both passionate and mercurial. She tends to throw herself whole-heartedly into an enterprise, but then will suddenly lose interest, and move on to something else.

This is why each Rainbow Girl "Book" can be read pretty much separately.

Gaal Jindrich is based on an actual person I knew back in the 1960’s.

He made his fortune during the Alaskan Gold Rush. He invested his money in a luxury retirement home and hospital. At least one of the doctors in his hospital had been poached from the local University Medical Center, and was an M.D. / Ph.D in geriatric medicine. There was a walking garden on the property with flowers and wild strawberries. The kitchen-cafeteria was open 24/7.

He and his wife planned to eventually sell their home and check themselves into their own retirement home when they were no longer able to take care of themselves. All the staff knew it.

I worked there cleaning the pool.

Well, I spent the last week in prison the hospital, for my annual bout with bronchial pneumonia.

My days were brightened by my granddaughter, who dropped by for an extracurricular lesson in poetic textual analysis, also known as “help with my homework, Grandpa”.

Bright girl. She is determined to write a poem in alternating lines of pyrrhic trimeter and tribrachic dimeter.

And the… it was… so we…
It was of, so we did.

I had debated whether or not to include the 19th & 20th century poetry in Book Nine. But that's the way it was written, that's the way it came to me, so I decided to be loyal to the creative choices of my past self.

So with Book 12, Dori tries to go back to an ordinary, mundane life. Not much super-heroing in these chapters. Move on, move on, nothing to see here.

I have a Monstress story, I, Monstress that has been percolating in my head for the past decade. This isn’t the end: I have a vague idea of what will happen in the future. (Frankenstein will join Legion 2.5, for example, which means he needs to find his way back to U.P. Space somehow.) But for the time being, we must to leave her where she is.

This is a sort of prologue to my present Rainbow Girl series, and an introduction to the ‘Earth-K’ paracosm generally:

“How It All Started”

This is how it really all started:

“Why You Don’t Want Me To Write The Legion”
http://www.legionworld.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=765725#Post765725

And here are a few more of my pieces set in my ‘Earth-K’ paracosm:

“The Tragic Tale of Elastic Lass”

“Whatever Happened to Fruit Boy”

“The Talok Awakening”

“The Death of Lightning Lad”

“Duplicate Boy and Shrinking Violet Have ‘The Talk’”

The following was written when I was ‘Tom Tanner Issue #1’:

TIME AND THE SILVER AGE

Lena Thorul first appeared in Superman’s Girlfriend, Lois Lane in 1961.She was Lex Luthor’s younger sister. It had already been firmly established that Luthor had been a peer and classmate of Clark Kent in Smallville. Lena was ten or fifteen years his junior. When it became apparent that Lex had become a teen-aged super-criminal, Lex’s parents disowned him, changed their last name to Thorul, and moved away from Smallville. Lena was too young to have clear memories of Lex; her parents told her her older brother had died in a tragic mountain-climbing accident.

Later, Lena was orphaned by a more mundane automobile accident.

In typical DC it’s-a-small-world fashion, the teen-aged Lena eventually became acquainted with Lois Lane (some ten or fifteen years her senior), and Linda Danvers (her peer). Eventually, she became acquainted with Superman himself. All these members of the Superman family, through some plot device I cannot recall, were aware that Lena was Lex’s sister, as was Luthor himself. This presented something of a problem, as Lena was a powerful telepath. It was necessary for them to constantly shield their minds in her presence, lest she discover her true identity. Despite mental enhancements being characteristic of her family, she was evidently not good at anagrams.

As the years rolled by, Superman, Lois, and Luthor remained the same age (29, I understand) but Lena grew up. As an adult, she married Jeff Colby, an FBI agent who was acquainted with Lex in an official capacity. Lena’s husband died of a space-disease or something, but not before they had a son, Val. Being a Luthor, he was gifted with powerful telekinetic abilities, and by 1978, Val looks to be about ten years old.

Val Colby

(There is a very cute story where Luthor breaks out of prison to secretly give his nephew a birthday present- a super-stretchy Superman cape.)

So here is ageless Lex Luthor, not yet thirty, interacting with the 10-year-old son of his fifteen-year-younger sister.

The main characters don’t age. The supporting cast does.

Van-Zee of Kandor was a distant cousin of Superman’s, who looked exactly like him. On an enlarged visit to Earth, he married Sylvia DeWitt, an Earthling heiress, (who was an exact physical duplicate of Lois Lane) who returned to Kandor with him.

Oddly enough, he also made his first appearance in Superman’s Girlfriend, Lois Lane. Van-Zee took over the original Kandorian Nightwing identity from Superman; his niece’s husband, Ak-Var, took over the Flamebird identity from Jimmy Olsen.

Sylvia and Van-Zee eventually had twins: a boy named Lyle and a girl named Lili. I guess that would be Lyle-Zee and Lili Van-Zee, using the Kryptonian naming conventions at the time. By the time Superman had finally enlarged Krypton, and created the world of Rokyn, they were (at least) pre-teens, and Van-Zee was an elder statesman in Kandor.

Meanwhile, Superman and Lois just… well nothing.

If the Silver Age Earth-1 had survived to today, Val Colby and Lili Van-Zee might be the parents of a teen-aged super-girl, one-quarter Kryptonian, with psychic powers…

=================================================================

Here is a partial list of DC comics characters who look *exactly* like Superman. (Or, Clark Kent) Enough to be mistaken for him.

This is likely a result, in part, of Golden Age and Silver Age stories being retold over and over again.

==================================================================

The Legion aged gradually, from teens to young adults. The Bierbaums even devised a standard: two years real time was equal to one year comic time.

After the five-year gap, time really caught up with the Legion. In more ways than one.

In the Earth-K paracosm, time still marches on.

At this point in the story, (Book 15) the original Legionnaires are mostly in their mid-forties. Most of the Subs are only a few years younger.

The Batch SW6 Legionnaires appear to be in their late twenties or early thirties.

Graym, Garridan, and Ivy are fifteen or sixteen by now, and forming their own Legion.

Dori Aandraison is fifty, Ennis Jahnson is fifty-two or fifty-four.

And they will continue to age.

And of course, each character is developing a history which is increasingly hard to follow. This would not make a satisfactory comic book at all.

But I am continuing to post here because, who else would be interested?

MORE MEMBERS OF THE SUBSTITUTE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES OF THROON:[B]

[b]Sockdolager
: A Dominator brute. Seven feet tall, four feet wide, bright yellow, with immeasurable physical strength. Also emits Khthonite radiation, which weakens his opponents.
Why he would never be admitted to the real Legion: Dumb as a rock. Has a child-like mind. Needs to be pointed in the right direction before being set loose. Also, emits Khthonite radiation, which can weaken his allies.

[Linked Image]

Dormouse: Despite being only four inches tall, has full Daxamite abilities, plus many of the Hyper-psychic-abilities displayed by Vartox of Valeron.
Why she would never be admitted to the real Legion: Sleeps twenty-three hours and fifty-five minutes a day.
[Linked Image]

Sally Putty: There have been a number of Elementals in the DC Universe. Swamp Thing, FireStorm, Red Tornado, Tefe Holland. There have been Rock Elementals and Water Elementals. Wildfire is possibly an Anti-Energy Elemental. There was even Brother Power, a Doll Elemental.
Sally Putty is a Silly Putty® Elemental. Also known as Viscoelastic Girl and Polydimethylsiloxane Patty.
Why she would never be admitted to the real Legion: Obvious.

Lists are boring. However, I am posting this here mostly so I can find it again. Possibly for your edification as well.

There have been numerous Legions in the Earth-K paracosm over the years. Here are a few, in (mostly, I hope) chronological order.

This is the Original Legion of Earth-K, in order of admission, as far as I can figure it out.

Legion 1.O
1 Cosmic Boy (Polestar) (Rokk Krinn of Braal)
2 Saturn Girl (Imra Ardeen of Titan)
3 Lightning Lad (Lightning Boy) (Garth Ranzz of Winath)

12 Supergirl (Unknown Boy / Satan Girl) (Kara Zor-El (Linda Lee Danvers) of Earth - 20th Century (Krypton))

42 Invisible Kid II (Jacques Foccart)
43 White Witch (Black Witch / Amethyst / Jewel / the Hag, etc.) (Mysa Nal (Zola Aq) of Naltor)
*Mysa has undergone a number of magical metamorphoses over the years, not all of them pleasant. As the Black Witch, she aided the Legionnaires during the events of Black Dawn. As a result of her exertions, Mordu and Zoe Saugin were released, as well as a number of other sorcerers whose souls Mordu had absorbed. Severely weakened, Mordu recovered on Sorcerer’s World under Mysa’s administrations, and apparently reformed. Events progressed, they married, and Mordru turned out to be as abusive and evil as ever, draining Mysa’s power and will… well, you know the story. After her time as the Avatar of Amethyst, and as the teen-aged Jewel, Mysa re-aged to into her Hag form. During this period, she began again training Harlack and Orlight, eventually adding Zoe Saugin (whose mother she met in her first incarnation as the Hag, before being controlled by Evillo), her younger brother Thanot, whose mage name is Steadfast, the young Dragonmage, and a Zrfffn imp named Qznkpykl. After this episode of her life, she managed to return to her actual chronological age, and trapped Mordru’s demon ‘half’ in an amulet-- at the cost of her powers. And her story continues…

*Created by Starfinger and Dr. Regulus from DNA and memory engrams stolen from Brainiac 5's laboratory, his term as Deputy Leader of the Legion of Rimbor was marred when he carried out hypnotic instructions embedded in his mind by his creators, precipitating the events of Black Dawn. His damaged corpse was later used by Wildfire to 'resurrect' himself. Dirk Morgna's psychic engrams thus still survive, imprinted in the Wildfire Matrix.

__ Infectious Lass (Drura Seppt of Somathur) <also Legion of Substitute Heroes>
*Drura was rescued by the Legion of Rimbor from her exile in the past just in time to participate in the Black Dawn disaster.

85 Visi-Lad (Rhent Ustin of *) <also Legion of Substitute Heroes>

The Batch SW6 Legionnaires of the Earth-K paracosm were created in a cooperative effort between the Dominion and the Time Trapper. Glorith was ascendant in the 3Oth and 31st centuries, with the Trapper imprisoned in and hourglass in her palace. However, the Dominion managed to slightly penetrate Glorith’s “Iron Curtain of Time”, and recruit the Trapper to their aid. He used his weird powers to create a series of trans-temporal duplicates of the Legionnaires. This was a para-time Legion, from alternate realities which only existed as quantum potentialities.
Initially indistinguishable from the original Legionnaire, they morphed into their true, unique forms after the Glorith-Mordru teamup shook the foundations of the Time Trapper’s power itself.
In the Earth-K paracosm, the Batch SW6 Legionnaires did not include Chameleon, Projectra, Ferro, or Andromeda.

Legion 1.5
86 Cosmic Boy 2 (Batch SW6 Rokk Krinn of Paratime Braal) (Founder)
*Of all the Legionnaires, he is virtually indistinguishable from his elder doppelganger.
87 Saturn Girl 2 (Batch SW6 Imra Ardeen of Paratime Titan) (Founder)
*Physically, the primary difference is that she has pink eyes, rather than blue. She is also more emotionally expressive, and less controlled, that the ‘original’.
88 LiveWire (Batch SW6 Garth Ranzz of Paratime Winath)__(Founder)
*Impulsive, impetuous, hot-blooded, and mercurial, his personality is in nearly direct opposition to the much cooler elder Garth.
89 Triad (Batch SW6 Luornu Durgo of Paratime Carggg)__(Founder)
*Unlike the original Lluornu, she has three seperate personalities.
90 Apparition (Batch SW6 Tinya Wazzo of Paratime Bgztl)__(Founder)
*Apparition is a half-Cargggan, and can split into "one-and-a-half" girls: one capable of manifesting both materially and immaterially, and one immaterial only. She can also become immaterial when combined into a single girl, or when duplicated, “switch places” with the material and immaterial girls.
91 Brainiac 5.1 (Batch SW6 Querl Dox of Paratime Colu)__(Founder)
*The youngest of all the Batch SW6 duplicates, he was also altered by the mysterious space-time vortex that affected Andromeda as well. His force-shield circuits are now biologically grafted to his body. He is also more personable and light-hearted than his original.
92 Leviathan (Batch SW6 Gim Allon of Paratime Mars)__(Founder)
*The major difference is his power limitation. While the elder Gim can attain a maximum height of one hundred meters, Leviathan is only able to acheive one-tenth that height. Of all the SW6 kids, he formed a strong bond with his duplicate, as well as Gim’s parents. It was therefore crushing when he died during the events of Emerald Violet.
93 Invisible Kid 3 (Batch SW6 Lyle Norg of Paratime Earth) (Founder)
*He is even more scientifically minded, and less spiritual, than the original. He was also strongly affected when he learned that his original was dead in this universe. He spent only a short time with the Legion, as about a year after Catspaw joined, April delivered their (unplanned) baby, and all three left to begin a life together. The Dominator’s experimentation had made Catspaw emotionally unstable, and it became impossible for the two to live together. April took their baby daughter (May Norg, later ‘Cheshire Cat’) and disappeared into the Galaxy. Lyle searched for them for some time, but eventually gave up, and settled down in a career as a chemical engineer.
94 Shrinking Violet 2 / Leviathan 2 (Batch SW6 Salu Digby of Paratime Imsk)__(Founder)
*Salu SW6 has violet eyes, rather than green. Both she and her double have personalities more affected by their experiences than their intrinsic nature. For the elder Salu, it was her prolonged kidnapping; for the younger Salu, it was her possession by the Emerald Eye. Salu SW6 eventually marries Ferro. (Andrea Cassidy of 20th-century Earth)
95 Matter-Eater Lad Junior (Batch SW6 Tenzil Kem of Paratime Bismoll) (Founder)
*OK, he is nearly as similar to the elder Tenzil as the two Cosmic Boys. Oddly, although he never ingested the Miracle Machine, his life is still affected by its Improbability Energies.
96 Star Boy 2 (Batch SW6 Thom Kallor of Paratime Xanthu) (Founder)
*This Thom appears physically similar to the Earth-Prime (ThreeBoot Legion) Star Boy. He has all the powers any Star Boy has ever demostrated: complete gravity control, near-Daxamite-level strength/speed/flight/durability, electro-vision, fire breath, etc. In the future, he ultimately married the Batch SW6 Ayla Ranzz, and they became the parents of Star Girl. He also had a set of twins__with Lonna Leing; their children were ‘Insect Queen 3’ and the on-again / off-again hero / villain ‘Star Beetle’.
97 Ultra Boy 2 (Batch SW6 Jo Nah of Paratime Rimbor) (Founder)
*After learning of the fate of the original Phantom Girl, Jo and Apparition married quickly. During his period lost in the Progenitor’s Universe, Tinya completes her thirteen-month Bgztlr gestation period, and has a little boy whom she names “Cub”.
98 Alchemist (Jan Arrah of Paratime Trom)__(Founder)
* Jan Arrah sacrificed his life getting his comrades safely to the Kwaiverse. Before they awakened, he was absorbed into the composite entity known as The Progenitor. A version of him re-appears in Earth-K story “I, Monstress”.
99 Valor (Batch SW6 Lar Gand of Paratime Daxam) (Founder)
*Transported back to the 21st century shortly after his appearance, he healed Glorith’s perturbations of the timeline. Spending another millennium in the Phantom Zone, he re-joined the Legion in the 31st century.
100 Gossamer Spark (Batch SW6 Ayla Ranzz of Paratime Winath)__(Founder)
* She appeared with both her anti-gravity and lightning powers intact.
101 Karate Kid 3 (Batch SW6 Val Armorr (later Val Aurum) of Paratime Earth (Founder)
* Val changed his name for political reasons, as he did not wish to be confused with the successively resurrected Prince Consort of Orando
102 Catspaw (April Dumaka of Earth)
*One of the first two Legionnaires admitted after the Batch SW6 Legion was organized. Only active a few months; resigned shortly after she became pregnant with Lyle Norg SW6’s baby.
103 Dragonmage (Xao Jin of Earth)
*Admitted with Catspaw. After a some successes and a series of failures with the Legion, Xao left Legion 1.5, shortly after Catspaw. Seeking more training on the Sorcerer’s World, he became a student of Mysa Nal, and political opponent of Mordru, during the times the wizard has ascended to power.
104 Computo II (Danielle Foccart of Earth)
*Admitted with Catspaw and Dragonmage. There have been several robotic Computos. Brainiac 5 created the original berserker robot; he later modified it to serve as the LSHQ majordomo, offending Saturn Girl. Brainiac 5.1 created a still more modified version in the 21st century, in an attempt to get himself and his comrades back home. This version went on to create Robotica, then evidently "evolved" itself out of existence. The human Computo, sister of Invisible Kid 2, is still technically a member of the Legion, but finds she is most useful around Legion Headquarters, now on Brande’s Legion World.
105 Chameleon (Phil Watters of Durla)
*This is an ordinary young Durlan recruited by Reep Daggle
106 XS (Jenni Ognats of Aarok) <also a brief stint with Legion 1.O through time travel after the “Legion of Three Worlds incident>
107 Andromeda (Lar-El Gand of Daxam)
*She is no relation to the original Laurel Gand, but another modern Daxamite. The name 'Laurel Gand' and its variants are about as common on Daxam as 'Mary Smith' on Earth. The starfield on her costume is meant to represent the area of space near Rickleff, Daxam's primary. Raised by strict Daxamite supremacists, she redeemed herself in the fight against the Daxamite “Ambassador Roxxas”, who had taken the name of the famous Terran genocidal maniac. Lar-El later gained energy-manipulation powers in the mysterious anomaly with Brainiac 5. Eventually leaving the Legion, she joined the Sisters of the Eternal Cosmos as Sister Andromeda. The Sisters are not celibate; in later years she married an ordinary Daxamite generally known now as Father Perseus.

Well, as long as I’m at it, I may as well cover the actual nature of the Anomaly which altered the natures of Brainiac 5.1, Andromeda, Gates, Kinetix, and Umbra. Each of them tells their own story, none of which agree, and there are odd ‘lapses of memory’ within each of their tales. Andromeda refers to the Anomaly as the “Fires of Creation”, for example. Brainiac 5 claimed it was a creation of Glorith, or the Time Trapper.
The truth is, the five Legionnaires met in the anomaly a near-omnipotent entity known as “Mister Nebula, Planetary Decorator”, and his herald, the green-skinned fat-boy devil-man WorldSmith. They shared their plan to completely re-design each of the United Planets. In order to dissuade him, the Legionnaires offer themselves as living subjects for Mr. Nebula’s matter-restructuring powers. Having never worked in the medium of sapient living tissue before, the being readily agreed. While making certain changes to the Legionnaires, Mister Nebula never completed his transformations of their physiques and personalities, as he became discouraged with the outcomes before he finished, and fell into a centuries-long funk.

And the list continues...
108 Kinetix (Zoe Saugin of Aleph) Now a permanent resident of the Sorcerer’s World. Due to time travel paradoxes involving Legion of Three Worlds, there was a period of time when the adult Zoe lived on Sorcerer’s World under
__Gates (Ti'julk Mr'asz of Vyrga) <also a brief stint with Legion 1.O through time travel>
109 Super Boy ('Kon-El' of Earth - 21st Century) Honorary time-traveling clone member.
110 Magno (Dyrk Magz of Braal)
111 Umbra (Korvea Mallor of Talok VIII - another cousin to both Grev and Tasmia. The Mallor dynasty has a large number of possible ‘planetary champions’ extant.)
112 Sensor (Jeqa Wynzzor of Naga-Procyon)
*From a world of dominated by snake-people, who employ raccoon-people as servants, her personal handmaid Lotora became a Legion 1.5 mascot, 'Raccoon Girl'. Sensor has powers similar to Projectra of Orando, and Command Kid, but they are psychic in nature, not magical or demonic.
113 Ferro (Andrea Cassidy of Earth - 20th Century)
*Brought to the 31s century after Legion 1.5 time-traveled back to the 20th century. It is suspected that her twin sister (who was left in the past) might be an ancestor of Douglas and Andrew Nolan, responsible for their mutations, as their powers are all very similar.
114 Inferno (Sandy Anderson of Earth)
*Pyrokinetic. Lost in time, presumably died in the 21st century.
115 Kid Quantum II (Jazmin Cullen of Xanthu) She was surprised to learn that her foster-brother James was, in fact, the Heart of Antares.
116 Monstress (Candi Pyponte-Le Parc III of Xanthu)
117 Thunder (CeCe Beck of Binderaan - 90th century)
118 Feral Star (Randall Burroughs / Jahr Dingle composite of Earth / Xanth)
*Randall Burroughs is a cousin of Drake. He merged with Jahr in the Progenitorverse to form an energy being. (As opposed to the original Wildfire, who was an anti-energy being.)
119 Shikari (Shikari Lonestar of Kwai Colony)
120 Gear (I.Z.O.R. of Lisnar)
121 Wolfpack (Rann Varal of Rimbor)
*Rann Varal was a member of the Green Dragon street gang on Rimbor. One night, he snuck into one of the headquarters of their sworn enemies, the Wolfpack street gang. His mission was to steal the Wolfpack amulet, a totem for the rival gang. He succeeded, but too late he discovered that the amulet was truly magical: under the combined light of the Three Purple Moons of Rimbor (an rare occurrence) the amulet morphed him permanently into a strange werewolf-form. In addition, the amulet itself vanished, seemingly absorbed into his new body. When Jo Nah shortly thereafter was instrumental in breaking up both the Green Dragon and Wolfpack gangs, Rann struck out on his own, now trying to stay out of trouble, using his lupine powers to protect the innocent. While the Batch SW6 Jo Nah was lost with the ‘Legion Lost’, Rann befriended and protected the young Batch SW6 Tinya Wazzo-Nah. He still remains a friend of the family.
122 Insect Queen (Leona Leing of Xanthu)
*She is, incidentally, Zynthia Leing’s (much) younger sister.
123 Dreamer (Rol Purtha of Naltor)
*He is the son of Yvvya Val Purtha Kallor (by her first marriage), and thus the stepson of Thom Kallor. He was recommended for membership in Legion 1.5 by his stepfather, when they required a precog.
_Quislet (¥□Δ of Teall)
*Quiset joined Legion 1.5 after his term in Legion 1.0, when the older Legion finally, permanently disbanded. Gates and XS, on the other hand, traveled back in time during "Legion of Three Worlds", and joined Legion 1.0 after they had been in Legion 1.5.

I hope I didn’t miss anybody.

I read 16-19 in one batch. Dori never fails to delight. I wish I had her character, she just rolls with the punches and carries on. Ennis is more practical financially, but I have a feeling Dori could be bankrupt and bounce back. I expect them to enjoy a rational and satisfying marriage!

It's a wonderful cast of characters, mining the Legionverse and creating new ones.

So long, Gaal Jindrich, you had an interesting life and a calm death. The Rejuvium explanations provided a reasonable explanation for the absence of excessively long lives in the future.

The Jesines are a strange cult, but credible. As in-laws go, they could be worse - or maybe there's worse to come....

Was Karate Kid really killed six times? I've lost count.

I've been dropping whole 'books' rather than whole chapters because I have noticed people who are interested at all tend to binge-read.

The Earth-K paracosm is far more detailed than I can even begin to record here. It has been percolating in my head for decades, and is my primary source of amusement in my old age.

I imagine that by the 31st century, ordinary Terrans might expect to live 120 years or so. Up to 150, for the truly elderly. On the other hand, there is plenty of opportunity to cut that life short in the culture of the United Planets. Exploring strange new worlds, joining the Legion, and so forth.

Karate Kid dying six times is my little joke. I don't think that any one version of Val has died more than twice in any single continuity. However, in the Earth-K paracosm, Val keeps dying, and Projectra keeps using the power of the Orakills to serially resurrect him. And, of course, Dori's story begins ten years after five years later, so he has had ample opportunity.

I hope that Dori and Ennis both come across as flawed, fallible characters, but perhaps their disparate personalities strengthen each other.

1) KK (Classic) commits suicide to save Orando from Nemesis Kid.

2) KK (Threeboot, later retconned as Retroboot Classic) dies when he goes back in time with Una.

3) KK (Batch SW6 Val) dies fighting the Dominators in 5YL.

4) Myg (KK2, apparently classic / Retroboot version) dies in Legion of Three Worlds, killed by Radiation Roy.

If I were to rewrite this tome, I would make a number of definitive changes to Ennis Jahnson. Ennis is partly based on Walt Disney, partly based on a number of Chief Executives I have known over the years. I have created his character from observation, but only recently have gained a real understanding.

I just finished reading The Organized Mind: Thinking Straight in the Age of Information Overload by Daniel J. Levitin

His thesis is that our finite human minds can only handle so much information. We therefore have a tendency to forget and overlook things. As a solution, he suggests that we let our environment remember things for us. (Always put your keys in the same place, pre-program as much of your electronic devices as possible, etc.)

He has an entire chapter on how high-level executives (and popular performers) become super-schedulers. They have staff that does it for them! Often, they do not know where they are or what they are doing until their Executive Assistant leads them into a room-- but once there, they are able to give full attention to the task at hand, and those they are interactive with. They do not need to worry about the future, where they need to go next, or what they need to prepare-- their staff is taking care of that for them. This allows the high-level executive to be entirely in the moment, as I have frequently observed.

Bunny and her staff are far, far more important to Ennis than I have written them.

There are a number of 20th and 21st-century characters that have survived to the 31st century in the Earth-K paracosm. Here is a little list.

The following have already appeared, or been mentioned:

01 Jonathan Elliot- son of Lois Lane and ‘Jordan Elliot’, he is known in the 31st century as ‘Superman’.

02 The Martian Manhunter- Known as Martin Hunter, and a plethora of other aliases, he is a resident of the Sorcerer’s World, a student of magic, and a friend of Mysa’s.

03 Jason Blood- Freed of Etrigan (at least temporarily) he has died more than once. Many know him as Blood, his is introduced by that name, and also as Jason Norwich.

04 Comet the Superhorse- Sometime in the past millennium, Biron the Centaur was able to regain his natural form. Also a student on the Sorcerer’s World, his is at least four thousand years old-- although much of that time was as a prisoner on a distant, lonely asteroid.

05 Doctor Fate- Well, at least the Lord of Order Nabu is still around. In the 31st century, on the Sorcerer’s World, he inhabits the Helm of Fate by himself. For now.

06 The Phantom Stranger- Another migrant to the Sorcerer’s World, and long-time opponent of Mordru, he goes by the name Tanner Mothgrasp. Unlike the current DC Universe, his origins are still shrouded in mystery.

07 Captain Marvel- He is known as the Wizard Klavanatus on the Sorcerer’s World, for now. He has changed his ‘magic word’ into something unpronounceable, so that he is unable to change back into the- very elderly, nearly dead- Billy Batson. The Marvels age about ten years every century, so the Captain looks perhaps in his early forties. However, his hair and beard are already frosted with grey, as it has been a hard millennium.

08 Mary Marvel- Mentioned but not yet seen, Billy’s sister now goes by Miriam Juniper.

09 Lar Gand (Mon-El) has taken on yet another identity: Robert L. Cobb, owner and proprietor of Cobb’s Brush and Reparo.
Mon-El does not really need employment, as he is a member of the Talokan nobility. In addition, the forty-seven credits he left in his juvenile account at the Bank of Daxam, compounded annually at 1%, for a thousand years, has left him a millionaire.
He just gets so bored of court life; he seeks challenges. And what better activity than to fix things?

10 Wildfire- Drake took the ‘long way back’ from the 21st century, while his team-mates returned in a time bubble. Currently married to Dawnstar

11 Gold of the Metal Men: ‘Doc’ Will Magnus brother, Michael (Mike) Magnus, served as the template for the gold ‘responsometer’. No idea if the other Metal Men are around or not.

12 Ganthet, and

13 Sayd, former Guardians of the Universe. Friends (?) of Dori.

14 Mordru

15 The Ultra-Humanite: Known in the 31st century as Harmonia Li.

16 The Indigo Warlock: Mentioned in passing, he was formerly the Joker, but his insane personality was subsumed by an indigo lantern. He will eventually marry Mysa Nal’s acolyte, Qznkpykl, who will become the parents of Lgxqzryp, a future Legionnaire.

17 Madame Xanadu (the nymph Nimue): Mentioned in passing. Still around, probably somewhere in Faeryland now.

18 Ra's al Ghul: Mentioned in passing. Joins Garridan's Legion as ‘Algol’ (Living Liquid Lad).

Showing up later in this series:

19 The Wizard Ambroise: Oscar Ambroise Diggs, the 19th-century Wizard of Oz.

20 Ythorod the Witch-Killer

21 Supergirl- Kara Zor-El of Krypton: “Look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead... Now, mostly dead is slightly alive. Now, all dead, well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do... Go through his clothes and look for loose change.”
What do you suppose happens to a Kryptonian in a coma nearly indistinguishable from death, when you put her in near-solar orbit around a yellow sun for a hundred years?

22 The monster Doomsday, now known again as The Ultimate. Finally evolved some intelligence as a survival strategy.

The following are out there, but Dori will not meet them in this story.

23 Lili Van-Zee: Daughter of Van-Zee, Superman’s Kandorian doppelganger (among others), and Earth heiress Sylvia DeWitt, Lois Lane’s doppelganger (among others). Now residing on Rokyn, which is inaccessible to most of the U.P. for various reasons.

24 Leah King, Hyper-Girl, daughter of Hyper-Man of 2Oth-century Oceania / Zoron.

25 L’Onng N’Ozz, the Aardmartian Anteater, from 2Oth-century Earth-C-minus

26 Hector Ham-and-Eggs, the reformed porcine super-villain, who accompanies L’Onng on their explorations of the Multiverse

27 King Kull, evil caveman.

28 Vandal Savage, evil caveman.

29 Fatman, real name Wade Stout, the clown who dresses like Batman. As an old man, accidentally discovered the Fountain of Youth in the Bahamas.

A special thanks to Invisible Brainiac, Harbinger, Fat Cramer, and Emily Sivana for all your kind comments. I hope I have left you a little entertained, or even inspired your own fanfics.

POSTMORTEM
As I have mentioned before, the majority of the Rainbow Girl saga was written in a frenzied few months a couple of years ago.

I did some minor editing; mostly re-arranging of ‘chapters’ so that there was a more consistent flow in the story. I also researched and copy-and-pasted a lot of the quoted poetry, much of which I had misremembered.

As the whole thing was kind of a stream-of-consciousness exercise, it is a little herky-jerky to read.

I also added a little more recent work, as it occurred to me, which was appropriate to the story.

Blok vs. Lester Spiffany
and
‘Whatever Happened to Meyer Qayd’
and
Veritas & Copycat vs. Rekojeth
for example.

I took Geoff Johns’ characterization of Dori: that she has a mysterious connection to the Emotional Spectrum, and wields its powers, resulting in unpredictable mood swings, but does not fully understand her abilities.

I also took as a template Volthoom, the First Lantern, who was the only other character I know of capable of accessing the entire Emotional Spectrum. There was a sub-plot in which I actually introduced Volthoom’s origin, but I was never able to fully develop it, as I would have had to go fifteen billion years back in time. [Did anyone pick up on it?]

It ended up that Dori tilted towards the MarySue. Ridiculously powerful, if Johns was to be taken literally, and inherently likable, with her natural super-charisma. Also her association, from the very beginning, with Imra, Chuck, Dirk, Salu, Querl, and Reep. And later, with the Subs.

It is necessary that someone always comes to rescue Dori, whether it be the Seven Deadly Entities, one of the Legions, or some other hero. Otherwise she would need to actually access those her full abilities to rescue herself, and that would be dangerous. I realized this back when I was writing this, and that is why I introduced Earth-K2, where Dori has severely reduced powers, and has a more ‘normal’ life.

As it now appears Red and Yellow will dominate for the next four years, we are planning on moving back to Suva before January 2Oth. And by ‘we’, I mean my daughter and son-in-law. But, where they go, I must follow.

I’m sure they have Interwebs there, but if you don’t hear from me for a few months, it’s only because I am still settling in.

I think I will continue producing fanfic, if only as a solace and escape from the real world. Pardon me for posting it here.

Oh my, I haven't even caught up yet! Are we already nearing the end? I will feel sorry to see your writings end, but you have certainly left us with such a rich universe.

And certainly, enough ideas to percolate around and keep Dori alive for ages to come!

Thank you for the shout-out. I hope to return to fanfiction writing soon. My problem is I have more fun researching than the actual writing...but there is always hope.

I just finished reading. Amazing! What a lot of twists and turns... and Dori still lives on. What an enchanting life she had. You really introduced so many astonishing twists and turns, but all so very plausible. I especially liked the end, with a glimpse into an alternate universe.
