Note: All 3 characters I'm thinking of appeared in-story. I'm not counting characters who were officially "dead" at that time. Nor am I counting characters who were officially "unavailable". These are characters who were, for all intents and purposes, official Titans. One of those was still unavailable but whose absence was not totally explained; two others were picked up by the probes as Titans allies but who could/should have been counted as "official" Titans.

Nope. They were never considered Titans (though they did appear as Titans allies).

What about the original Hawk? I remember Risk being the one that started the fight, but Hawk was also super aggressive.

Risk did start the fight, and the original Hawk was the super-villain with the weird name Extant at the time, and did not actually appear in-story.

Does that mean that Hawk counts? There's no reason why it couldn't have nabbed a villain. Or was he off in time fighting Captain Atom (both messed with as a result of that "Event").

I have no idea where he was at the time I suppose he could count, though he wasn't one of the three I was thinking of... but I'll give him to you anyway

In JLA/Titans, when Cyborg's probes went out to collect all living former Titans, they missed three.

Who were these three?

Note: the "former Titans" status of at least two of the three characters is debatable.

Just being fair, the other guesses didn't fit for one reason or other but Hank makes sense

Ugh, Azrael was never an official Titan and never deserved to be one, so he doesn't count though he was picked up as a Titans ally.

Hint:

One of the 3 was a Titans Wester. The other 2 were part of the "main" team.

Titans West - I thought Omen was in it. Gar was moaning in it. Flamebird played tennis in it with Grayson. Don was dead, we've done Hawk, Golden Eagle and Gnarrk. I can't think of anyone else... so I guess Lilith/Omen?

oh and does Mr Jupiter count?

Not Omen, who was one of the probe abductees. Mr Jupiter did not appear at all and does not count.

For the Titans West member, I did some digging earlier and found that this Titan was a member of a one-off incarnation. Enough for this member to specifically have been listed in story as a member though (and yet was only picked up when the probes looked for allies, go figure)

Mr Jupiter should have insisted on reliving his youth as an official Titan in exchange for funding. Like in football.

I seem to keep thinking about the Mal and Bumblebee with that team as well as Duela, but they were all in the mini...

Tim Drake? - I've no idea how many Robin's turned up in the Titans over the years. I'm sure Damian appeared later, so they weren't fussy

Oh! Deathstroke! Did he count as one of the team after the Titans Hunt thingy?

While I'm thinking about that, what about Raven's mother. Arella was it?

Just addressing your actual guesses (and I think we should limit to 3 guesses per post :p) Tim hadn't been a Titan yet, and neither had Deathstroke. I'm pretty sure Arella was dead by then and had also never been a Titan.

So that version didn't count as a team - that rules out Steve Dayton and my next guess, which was going to be ...Terry long (speaking of characters looking to relive their youth by hanging around with teens, but creepier in this case)

Magenta? She certainly helped the Titans v Brother Blood. That was in the last newsstand issue I got I think.

No to Terry Long who was never a Titan and then

No to Magenta, who for some reason has never been a full Titanshe did appear when the probes collected allies.

I think Chris King might have been one?

Chris King is indeed one! His bio in JLA/Titans lists him as a Titans West member. And his Titans Tpwer entry says he was part of a one-off Titans West team:



With two sources corroborating each other, I counted him as a regular Titan. However, he was only picked up when the probe started looking for Titans allies (despite the probe itself listing him as a Titans West member!). Maybe they couldn't find him earlier.

I amended the question to note that only 3 characters need to be guessed, but there are 4 answers I will accept. I also amended the hints to refer to the 2 remaining possible answers.

Duela Dent?

Yes!!! Silver Age readers would know that Duela Dent was definitely an active member of the main Titans team. However, in JLA/Titans, she was only listed as a Titans ally. She was picked up along with Chris King and other Titans allies by the second wave of probes.

On the other hand, other Silver Age characters like Lilith, Bumblebee, Mal Duncan, Flamebird (formerly Bat-Girl) and the first Hawk and Dove had their Titans status retained. I'll have to check on Kole's status but I think her Titans membership was also enforced.

The third character I had in mind was Minion. He was listed as a full-fledged Titan, but was likely skipped over by the probes because he was in space. He appeared in one panel, seemingly floating unconscious (or maybe asleep?) and likely in space.

Long story short:

Over to you, Blacula, for guessing 2 of the 3 I was thinking of!

ugh, Chris King. I vaguely remember a Dial-H story in the Baxter series, but I think I only picked it up years later for pennies.

Had it not been for JLA/Titans i may never have known that Chris King was a Titan.

I'd never have got minion either. It could have been worse JLA/ Titans could have been published after they let everyone join during the 1 year later thing.

Of course, about half of those one year later members ended up dead...
