TANYA. Don't get me started. For some reason, I can sing the SHIZ-NIT out of lots of her early stuff. Including this one, which I've gotten requests for a time or two! I like to call this an early recorded instance of mutant powers in action!
Stunning Deborah Allen burst onto the scene via a project some likely considered odd. She was hired to sing duet-style vocals over old tracks sang by long-dead Jim Reeves. Now keep in mind, this is YEARS before Natalie Cole did the same with her father.
I have the album, one side Jim with Deborah, the other is old Reeves solo tracks. I much prefer the Jim/Deborah side.
So, Deborah went on to release her first solo album TROUBLE IN PARADISE. I don't recall any hits from it, but I have it, and like it to this day. I wouldn't exactly call it country, more of a soft-adult pop sitch. Sample this great track and judge for yourself. (Side-note: I think this is a beautiful album cover too)
Of course, Deborah's huge smash was on the next album:
I think country music has taken a downturn. You don't have any real country folk anymore like Merle and Waylon. Instead we are getting insipid pap like Taylor Swift and current pretty boy guff.
No more hard drinking, hard fighting country boys out there. Eehh. Such is life.

Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
If anyone at all remembers Christy Lane, it is probably as the gospel singer behind I HAVE A DREAM and similar songs. But I remember her well before that (smiles, has the 45s as evidence)
I'd completely forgotten this song, but have the 45. Wow, hahaha. I mean, come ON, I was like 11 years old. What kind of psycho-in-training... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
