Welcome to the Micropedia Galactica, the new thread for my Micro Heroes creations.
The long term goal here is to complete full team sets and detailed character visual histories for every character from the Legion franchise. The short term goal is to stay creative and have fun! There won't be a consistent update schedule - new posts will arrive as I complete sets. If the forum is willing, I'd also like to branch into other DC Comics and even Marvel properties and post those offerings. The previous generation of designs can still be found at the Future's Legion Micros thread. You know, if you like nostalgia or exaggerated proportions.
Usual Disclaimers Apply! I don't own the Legion or any other properties which will eventually be represented in this thread. The templates I build off of were heavily modified by myself from Bruce Timm inspired designs by others. The hairs on the Micro Heroes are largely modifications from other peoples' micro designs.
Yay! First on the thread to say how lovely these are and to say thanks for continuing with the micros Future. The attention to detail is just stunning.
"...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."
That's another round of micros for the history books. Thanks to Thoth for the kind words! One advantage of redoing these looks is being able to add more detail the old, smaller templates may have muddled.
I thought about holding back the "Fashions by Fans" for when I approach the Elseworlds, but in truth enough of those looks made it into the book or at least inspired something. So I went ahead and included it. I didn't originally intend to do so many team shots for the "V2" era, but I kept finding enough costume variations to justify. Giffen changed enough of his own creations between the Great Darkness Saga and his following issues that I felt GDS merited its own unique team shot. He does something similar when he returns at the close of the Baxter series, introducing new costumes and then redesigning them a few issues later.
Hope everyone likes! Haven't even started on the Magic Wars looks yet. I love those costumes but they're unique enough that I can't get by with a lot of copy and pasting. Sad face.
The person next to me on the train caught my exclamation on all these additions and has been peeking over. Not just Micros my inquisitive train buddy, Future's Micros :-)
You've already got more than enough on, that I get to enjoy scrolling up and down, noting all the little costume and hair changes.
Jeckie has had some really distinctive changes and it's great to see that black costume included.
Like Lyle's shorts Micro, I don't remember Jacques white costum, so that's another one to watch out for. I'm really looking forwrd to seeing his Magic Wars outfit, which was my favourite one of his.
Great job onthe fans fashions too. While I'm very glad not to have seen more of them in the book, Imra's jacket makes alot of sense. More than a space bikini anyway :-)

Brilliant Future. So many personal favourites in the recent posts. I'm very impressed when you take the time to do posts like the trial outfits (Tinya & Dreamy personal favs from that issue) and the fan outfits too.
"...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."
Thanks, Fanfie and thoth. This is one of my two favorite Legion eras. So much going on and you really watch these characters grow for better or worse.
There were a few other instances where a lot of the team was gathered in casual wear, but the Trial jumped out at me for all the distinct looks. The Trial of Brainiac 5 is actually one of my favorite Legion issues ever, so there may be bias there.
Interesting that you like the lower key repercussion issue of the big #50 before the likes of the big Magic Wars, Future.
I liked it because the all the characterisation of the cast Levitz built up really pays off when they have to make a decision key to the Legion's heart. Oh and the Polar Boy/ founders outlooks on the issues were really well done.
Did a couple of the costumes come from that v4 flashback issue where they dealt with Black Dawn? I'm thinking of Dreamy and Star Boy?

Indeed. I included those two because quite frankly there's nowhere else to put them. Even post-Black Dawn in v4, Dreamy and many others had different costumes by then.
I suppose there's a Five Year gap iteration where Nightwind, Atmos, Impulse, Echo and the Subs join. I think we know more about that from the Mayfair sourcebook than the comic right enough.
I remember the Sun Boy flashback to that period though. Since it was through his distorted, agonised memories, a lot of the costumes regressed. Polar Boy's was back to his original, I think, to symbolise his early cheerleader role. So, perhaps not mileage from that one. I think there was a decent Impulse costume in that issue though.

I can't believe I missed this thread!! That's what I get for not coming here for months I just LOVE the new micros and of course my faves are Dawnstar, Violet and White Witch.
I saw Future's name on the homepage beside this thread... A little pause for breath. Don't get my hopes up... Like all good pressies I left it to last to check. So many new entries! I can't wait to have a much closer look later but this is just superb.
Deaged Ayla, Sun Boy/Drake, All the v4 Legionnaires! Nolan of the Mordruverse! The post Black Dawn Legion! James Cullen! Legion on the Run! *So* Much goodness (there should probably be a health warning posting more than a couple of these up at a time )

Thanks, thoth. Glad you enjoy these. Sorry it's an overwhelming amount in one post. I would love to post these as I finish a single team. My OCD prevents me! I want to keep the eras grouped together without comments between them for smooth navigation for anyone clicking through the links on the first post.
I had actually intended to do more team shots from this era from one-off storylines or annuals, but it was already becoming a handful. 154 unique or modified micros.
While I include the Mordruverse here, I won't do that for every "Elseworld." Some I will if they're story-appropriate, like the 1940s and 1950s Legion of the Postboot. Others, even if they took place in a time range like the "Legion of Oz" annual here in v4, I'll save for when I do an Elseworlds push. Yes, there will be an Elseworlds push! Probably after I do the Rebirth teams (I'm sure they'll debut by the time I get there...).
I'm enjoying doing team shots versus individual characters this time. It takes longer than I could have suspected, but the shots are fun. ...plus once I -do- go back and do character posts, I can be far more thorough faster.

Overwhelming in a very good way I've been doing Christmassy things tomight (Bah!) so I've just been popping in and out. But every time I do I just see more attention to detail. All the little variations on those V4 costumes, Kono's hair, Drura, Laurel Gand's various costumes and Celeste as a Darkstar. and on and on...
I'm glad you're enjoying doing the team shots. I like seeing the individual progressions too, but there's something nice about seeing them all together through the iterations.

I'm glad you added the Mordruverse. It was a particularly good story and briefly part of the continuity I guess, more than a lot of the Elseworlds. Besides, there was something special about seeing Mr Nolan being the hero there.
Super to see Nightwind in the post Back Dawn line up. They weren't shown often, so your attention to completion is appreciated.
I had just peeked at the thread yesterday, so it was an extra treat to see an update today.

I popped on and saw there were new entries, EEEEEEEK!!! You just made my whole week. Gonna check my profile info though, didn't get the update email... hmmm. Love all the amazing additions, especially Mysa and Violet.
Thank you all for the kind words. The Postboot Legion definitely got a lot of love, between the Time Trapper one-issue realities and just the frequent variation in the roster and costumes.
I'm most proud so far of the Blighted Legionnaires ... I'd love to get more detailed with them, but honestly I'm losing steam and was ready to post these and move onto the next set. The Threeboot Legion will be next.

And yet, you completely missed the change in Triad's symbol (no, I don't mean the Coipel costume)
Also, a few other one-offs, like the DCR Science Police Legionnaires, Or the semi-costume civvie looks Triad & XS had in Legionnaires #58 (XS in a hoodie!). And a bunch of Kinetix looks (you don't even have a non-cat one of her in any of the green variants of her original suit!)

Threeboot? BOO!
My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Wow! as always. Love so many of these. As I was skimming up and down the page, I didn't notice a detail on the Legion of the Damned. It took me a moment before the creepy realisation that you'd given us the Blighted versions hit. Very nice indeed.
