I dated Miss Grocery Queen 1960. It was 2005 by then, but still...

Aha! Thoth Lad is actually an alt-ID of Ralph Fiennes*!

*For non-celebrity-watchers, British actor Ralph Fiennes dated British actress Francesca Annis for over a decade, from the mid-90s to the mid-late 2000s. At the time, he was in his early 30s and she had just turned 50. Good for them, I said and still say! About effin' time there was a showbiz romance where the woman was the older one.

Alas, the Romanian singer he* was having a two year affair with was 31 to Annis' 62.

*I use that broadly as it's a bit of an embarrassment to have such a sleaze in my gender.

Thoth, LOL lol

Well, I still think he did give a half-decent performance in "The English Patient," a movie which I feel did *not* deserve the backlash it got after winning all those Oscars.

But...I'll admit I'm biased, because j'adore Juliette Binoche*, and I had the biggest crush on Naveen Andrews for a while (yes, I knew Naveen when...getting an ongoing gig several years after that movie, on the TV series "Lost", was a decidedly mixed blessing for Naveen IMHO...by the time his character was killed off** he wasn't nearly as hot anymore as he had once been -- his hair was shorter and his body looked puffier.

*Now I'm waiting for Thoth or some other Legion Worlder to reveal the ugly truth about Madame Binoche. Go ahead, I can take it.

** How do I hate "Lost" and consider it the most overrated TV series of all time? Let me count the ways. On second thought, life's too short, but I'll settle for the two that angered me the most: 1) Every character I genuinely liked, including Naveen's character, had been killed off by the time the show was put out its misery. Every. Single. Freaking. One.; and 2) Ana Effin' Lucia and the talentless, spoiled-brat b*tch with a Real Life get-out-of-jail Monopoly card who played her. Hmmm...looks like I've found THE celebrity who is, to me and my gender, what Fiennes the Sleaze is to Thoth and his gender. lol

Uh oh Juliette Binoche was also in Wuthering Heights with Senor Sleaze*.

I saw her in The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I was just a bit young to really appreciate it, but enjoyed it much more on a later viewing.

I also really enjoyed her performance in Three Colours...umm..

Singalong ...

Blue! It was Blue! Crumbs, I've not seen those for ages.

I've not seen much of any other modern TV show. So, I'm a bit...um.. lost... when it comes to celebs or references to them. I do find that the world turns perfectly well without noticing their involvement in it.

* "he" is far from being alone in that category.

The Hulk pic that leads this thread reminds me of my all-time favorite lettercol title: "Hulk Read!" lol

I remember one time my wife looked over my shoulder, saw the "Hulk Read" title and said, "Hulk read?"

It still comes up every once in a while when we refer to each other and ourselves either reading or about to read. Sometimes, I go, "She-Hulk read?" lol

I think a pic adorned the top of the page with classic dumb Hulk puzzling over a book! grin

Still "Lardy" to my friends!

The Classic Dumb Hulk certainly had less...Gray Matter*...than the Smarter, Smaller, Thuggish Hulk. smile

* For those who haven't read dozens (hundreds?) of Hulk comic book back issues, the lettercol temporarily changed its name to "Gray Matter" while the Gray Hulk (the aforementioned Smarter, Smaller...et cetera Hulk) was headlining the book.

I'm trying to remember exactly WHEN the lettercol was entitled "Hulk Read". I THINK it was somewhere in the PAD run, but I recall both "Gray Matter" and "Green Mail" being titles at various points, as well.

Is the thinking man sexier in a vest or without*? Or is it all down to the size of the ... globes?

* with, of course. String vests are sexier still, and banned from covers... um... globally.

It was a hard life being a member of the Legion of Subs. Being on call in case of a secret emergency meant it was tough holding down a regular job. Let's check in with Stone Boy, to see how he's doing...

Surely Flash villain The Thinker has posed as Rodin's The Thinker at least once.
