I have fond memories of Swarm in the Spider Man and His Amazing Friends cartoon
The Fly, Tarantula and Puma loomed large in two eras of Spider Man that I followed.

Goodbye, sweet villains...

I have my Wild Card already picked for when the time comes. I like Sable a lot. She reminds me of Emma Frost.

I hated to lose Phil Urich. I doubt any of you have read the great, current Dan Slott era, but Phil has been an excellent villain. Slot portrayed him as kind of the anti-Peter Parker. Phil also worked for the Bugle by day and was secretly the latest vile Hobgoblin. One of the cool things they did was occasionally show Phil's face half Phil/half Goblin when he was thinking about his villainous activities as Phil. A cool reference to the classic half Peter/half Spidey face visual to underline how the characters were mirror images of each other.

Instead of drawing out the latest Hobgoblin's identity, readers knew from the beginning who he was, while the other characters were left in the dark. Eventually, Phil was confronted by Kingsley for the right to be Hobby and was eventually brought down by Doc Ock as the Superior Spider-Man. After that, Phil hooked up with Norman Osborn to then cement his connection with the entire Goblin legacy.

That's still the character's most significant appearance in my mind. Memories!



Not a huge Fly fan, but the Tarantula had a great story arc with Will o' the Wisp and the Brand Corporation under the great Spidey scribe that will always make the fairly minor Spidey villain stand out more than he would otherwise. Puma was great under DeFalco's stint, and Peter David used him a lot, too. Too bad he's mostly faded into obscurity. I'm surprised Slott hasn't revived him as he has some other recently less-used Spidey characters.

Still, some of my quirky favorites, like Morbius, Will O Wisp, Gray Gargoyle, the Lobo Brothers and Ana Kravinoff are hanging on by a thread!

The scale will remain the same for now. I anticipate we will need a Wild Card Round after this.

2) Or Chose Up to Two Characters not included in the game
3) Write them in a Post; Check all posts above you to make sure your suggestion was not previously taken
4) I will create a list of all the suggestions and we vote for two characters to re-enter the game.

I vote for Sable and the Gray Gargoyle. I like Gray Gargoyle's portrayal as a mob boss in one of the cartoons. He also has a coll design.
