I can't help but wonder how different the results would have been if IB had voted. Eurocrime fans will never forgive you, IB! Eurocrime, Starbreaker, Queen Bee II and Wandjina would probably have gotten votes from me! I am going to keep this open until tomorrow evening. I want to announce in chat that we are nearing completion because we sometimes get people who only vote in the later rounds.

Ahhhh Solaris eliminated so soon? Solaris will have it's revenge! SUNBURN!!!! But Morrison's Solaris is met by the 1972 Russian film where he pinched its name from! It's pseudo sci-fi utterings are no match for the real thing!

Now it is time for the results. The Crime Syndicate has won a victory. I am please to say we have a top 20! We will be switching to a slightly smaller scale of by 5s until we reach the Semi-Finals. The Wild Card Round will be after one more regular round.
Crime Syndicate (Earth 3) 852 100% Doctor Destiny 792 93% T.O. Morrow 708 83% Starro 696 82% Felix Faust 684 81% Royal Flush Gang 672 78% Shaggy Man 672 78% Queen Bee 660 77% Amazo 600 70% Amos Fortune 576 67% Key 576 67% Demons Three 564 66% Giganta 563 66% Floronic Man 528 62% Mark Shaw (Manhunter/Privateer/Star-Tsar) 528 62% Manhunters 480 56% Despero 468 55% Chronos 456 54% Professor Ivo 444 52% Tattooed Man 432 51%
Eliminated this Round Brainstorm 420 49% Gorilla Grodd (DCAU) 420 49% <-- I feel the TV version was better developed as a character. Kanjor Ro 408 48% Solomon Grundy 408 48% <-- Somebody more intelligent than me can make a joke a about Grundy and pants. Gorilla Grodd 396 46% Lord of Time 396 46% Appelaxians 384 45% Cadre 360 42% Construct 336 39% Lex Luthor 336 39% <-- He lasted pretty long. Tornado Tyrant 336 39% Hyathis 312 37% <-- I thought her design was a lot better than Kanjor Ro. Brimstone 288 33% Anti-Matter Man 72 8%

I guess Grundy has to go buy new pants... Maybe Grodd went with him
Among the villains left, I see Giganta and Tattooed Man more as villains who would work well in a team, but not really as solo acts.
Mark Shaw is an interesting case. he doesn’t work well as a team player. and the appearances of his I read had him more as a problematic ally rather than an out and out villain

Sad to see Brainstorm go (and by only 1%! <cry>) but pleasantly surprised to see an obscure favorite like him last this long! Take that Joker!
Kanjar Ro will be pleased to see that that cheap imitator who stole his spot on the list, Kanjor Ro, has finally gone.
Lord of Time is another slightly obscure character whose status as a fave of mine is 95% based upon his choice of headgear. He should have appeared more.
What can I say about the Appelaxians? They are the antagonists in the greatest single issue story of all time - Justice League of America #200. For that reason alone they are the default winners of this game, regardless of the result.
The Cadre are probably the only decent villains introduced during the Detroit era. I have a special place in my heart for Black Mass for some reason.
Construct is another great villain. He/it seemed so menacing in the Red Tornado mini. I feel like writers must have forgotten about him over the years because it seems like there were about a dozen similar characters introduced after Crisis.
Hyathis - I agree with you Emily. She had a great look. I don't know why Kanjar Ro was the only one of those villains to become a major player. All of them looked interesting (and easily updateable) to me.
Brimstone - Very surprised to see him last this long. Did he appear anywhere other than Legends? I found that to be a really boring mini and him to be a really boring opponent in it.
Well done to Giganta for being the last remaining LoD member on the list.
I like pretty much everyone left now so the rounds are going to start getting much harder for me.

I remember Brimstone appearing in an issue of the Ray (Ray, not Happy), and Superboy (Kon) showing up to help. he was kind of funny there. after thrashing the two, Brimstone goes... “I need a beer”

Of those who have departed this round, I'll miss Gorilla Grodd and the Tornado Tyrant most.
I like how many of those remaining are good team options.

I'm surprised Anti-Matter Man and Hyathis made it so far I'm not sure I've ever read an actual issue with Hyathis in it - I remember her (fondly) from the original Who's Who series
Gorilla Grodd has been surpassed (barely) by the DCAU version - which I completely understand.
Surprised that Brainstorm, Lord of Time, Kanjar Ro, Cadre and Appelaxians are out. They are (to me) quintessential Justice League villains.
Happy to see Luthor go. While he's constantly used as a leader/villain, he doesn't ring "JLA foe" to me

Brimstone was also used as a Firestorm villain during the "elemental" years.

On those who have been sent to the DCU revolving door jails... Brainstorm - Great helmet, shame about the neck injury! Kanjor Ro - ruined by a writer getting him to call Wondy something not code approved. Solomon Grundy - sorry, no pants jokes. I've a christening to get arranged today. Gorilla Grodd - he went all cannibal at some point, taking away his silver age fun a bit. Lord of Time - If only he understood what he could do with his powers. Great villain though. Appelaxians - A super cover for their first retcon appearance and that #200! Wow! Cadre - Often mocked, before DC realised that they hadn't created anything better in years. I've a soft spot for a lot of these guys. Construct - Appeared as a puppet in the early JL issues, but the bronze age showed him at his best. Lex Luthor - The villainous counterpoint to so many hero teams. Tornado Tyrant - Like so many of the others, he had a great cover appearance. There's a lot of Adam Strange sci-fi in this list. Gets all nostalgic... Hyathis - Did really well to get this far. A striking visual and loads of potential. Brimstone - Looked cool when Byrne drew him... Like so many big villains, he didn't move around a lot. Anti-Matter Man - Surprised he's gone. I thought no one would touch him

Huh, only Giganta and Queen Bee left for super-villainesses! (Plus any female members of the Crime Syndicate and Royal Flush Gang...).

^ The Justice League have always been pretty terrible at attracting female villains. Heck, Queen Bee is probably their most prominent one and she's only appeared something like 3 times in 50 years!

We have finished Round 9! The winner of this round is Starro again. We will be starting the Wild Card Round shortly. I have to dig up the rules from the last Idol because I don't remember what the established procedure was. In the meantime, please feel free to discuss the results. It may also be a good idea to start thinking of picks for the Wild Card Round.
Starro 290 100% Queen Bee 260 90% Doctor Destiny 250 86% T.O. Morrow 250 86% Crime Syndicate (Earth 3) 240 83% Royal Flush Gang 235 81% Giganta 225 78% Shaggy Man 215 74% Despero 210 72% Felix Faust 210 72% Professor Ivo 210 72% Amazo 200 70% Key 200 70% Floronic Man 185 64% Manhunters 160 55%
Eliminated This Round Amos Fortune 135 47% Tattooed Man 135 47% Mark Shaw (Manhunter/Privateer/Star-Tsar) 130 45% Demons Three 125 43% Chronos 120 41%

I tried telling him it was a promotional typo for the Idol contest. But he took "One villain will become a big starro" as a sign...
Mark Shaw was more anti hero than villain, so he probably got quite far considering. Chronos and the Tattooed Man were villains of single heroes more than just league heroes. Amos Fortune could be a little abstract - Luck Glands? I liked the Demons Three more after I'd read some horror novels, but they initially didn't do much for me. Giganta is the surprise for me to be still on the list. I've not read any of those.

The Wild Card Round Starts Now.
Rules for this Round
1) Please Choose One Character (See Page 1 for help) that has already been eliminated from the game. 2) One Character not included in the game 3) Write it in a Post; Check all posts above you to make sure your suggestion was not previously taken 4) I will create a list of all the suggestions and we vote for one character to re-enter the game.
My vote goes to Star Sapphire III due to her brilliant performance during the Identity Crisis era.

Just checking Emily:
The rules sort of make it sound like we pick two characters (one who was eliminated [1] and one who was not included in the game [2]) but you've only picked one character. Am I misreading the rules?
