My favorite story involved her running feud with socialite Clare Booth Luce. One time they arrived at a restaurant at the same time. Mrs. Luce said "Age before beauty." and gestured to the door. Dorothy replied "And pearls before swine." and walked in.

That quote has become quite famous, I've seen it in some comic strips.

"pearls before swine" is actually a Biblical reference. In Mtthew 7:6 Jesus admonishes his followers to not cast their pearls before swine. As the pigs would just trample them into the ground.

I went to a Catholic high school. On a religion test the question was "What is the difference between human souls and animal souls?" The answer was that human souls are immortal and animal souls are mortal. However, I left off the "t" on both words. I still think that I was correct. Humans have immoral souls and animals have moral souls.

I went to a Catholic school too. I hated having to go to Mass every Saturday. Though occasionally we had a funny priest.

There was an ultra-conservative teacher who was already a teacher when my dad was a student. He would tell couples who walked too closely together that they were being immoral.

My Catholic high school was all boys at the time. However I was not even out to myself and unable to take advantage of it.
