The following rules were established by Kent Shakespeare at the start of the first 24-hour version, adapted from the original rules by EDE:

The rules:

1. The Basic Idea: Post to this thread, if no one posts after you for 24 hours, you win!

2. Posts that are not direct responses to one of the five preceding posts are ineligible to win. The topic can drift, but no complete non-sequitors. Posts that are responses to non-sequitors are also ineligible to win. Posts that are responses to responses to non-sequitors, and response nses to those posts, etc., become eligible, however.

3. In the event that this thread is locked, there shall be no winner unless a new thread is started for the contest. Furthermore, any post that results in the banning of the poster shall also be ineligible to win.

4. So, more precisely, one wins if one makes a post, and then no one makes another post that's eligible to win for 24 hours.

I'm sure Quis will inform us of all the cats he rescued from trees. Sadly, no helping little old ladies and men across the street. Those cats need saving.

As for having something against serial killers, does a lot of heavily armed police count?

There was a novel published in the 60s, I think, titled "The Laughing Policeman." The author had kind of an Eastern European name. I would imagine it was supposed to be heavy on the irony, but in my literal-minded, cartoonish perception, all I could picture was a stereotypical American beat cop walking his rounds going, "HA HA HA", while people in the tenements shouted, "Shut up! That's annoying!"

When I was young I would watch Bewitched. And when people would vanish, I thought that they had invisible suits they put on. Then I wondered how I didn’t see them zip up the suit. So I theorized that there were other people there already in invisible suits that did it for them.

Good theory. I can just picture some Legion wannabe doing exactly that.

Well invisible suits are based on science. Magic and witchcraft are not real.

But the Legion combines both

Crumbs. I was talking to a witch a few weeks ago. Or,at least, I thought I was. I must have looked a right berk standing there by myself.

Maybe she just erased your memory. A la Zatanna.

Or it could have been the Amnesium we were drinking.

Amnesium works best as a suppository

I think we tried a Mad Libs thread ages ago.

I love watching Mad Libs. and I think I would enjoy doing them too! I'm looking at improv groups here in Amsterdam now.

There's a very good horror movie from the late 80s called "Amsterdamned." It was directed by Dick Maas, who also did many music videos for European rock groups, including Golden Earring's MTV smash hit "Twilight Zone."

I looked it up. Apparently it did well!

Horror movies are not my favorite genre. I prefer comedy. Although I don’t find a lot of today’s comedy movies very funny.
