This is why I save my internet smack-talk for the Amish. It's super-unlikely I'm going to offend one.

42. My post was offensive to computer-literate Amish people. Which, ideally, should be none of them, but you can't be too considerate.

The issue these days is offending people who think other people should be offended. My post was poking fun at the Internet keyboard warriors I used to see on Facebook, which is why I no longer read the comments.

happens a lot especially when someone asks an innocent question - may even preface it with - "sorry for asking, I don't get the point though, could someone explain?" and someone full of righteous fury comes in and lays on the smackdown...

Not long ago, I read about online knitting communities that had started as tolerant places, primarily focusing on their actual hobby, but descending into self imploding hate filled places of intolerance for those considered unworthy and not woke enough. As it went on, even the first wave of intolerants weren't considered woke enough and they were turned on. Thankfully, we have Legion World where everyone can feel free to have a favourite member of the Legion of Super Pets and a personal favourite hat or power for Jimmy Olsen to use. Or not be bothered with either of them.
