What comics would make sure you took with you into lockdown, or that you made sure reached your desert island while you awaited rescue?

The New Mutants annual set in Asgard.
Superboy's Legion.
Runaway's collected edition.

I like me some young heroes, and, more or less, hopeful endings.

Some already mentioned that I've not read (and therefore worth checking out). I've never read any Birds of Prey (also the name of one of my RPG superhero groups when I was li'l thoth smile ). I've not read any Runaway's either.

Adventures of Luther Arkwright
Hellboy: Seed of Destruction TPB
Justice League of America Index - from ICG covering the whole of v1
Justice League of America Archive 1- Fox & Sekowsky
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Who's Who (in the binder that came along later)
X-Men Archives: Captain Britain
Ghost in the Shell
V for Vendetta
Lenore

I guess I would add some:
Global Frequency
Warren Ellis' Authority
From Hell
Invisibles

Global Frequency popped into my head the other day, on another topic. Was Ellis hoping that one would be a TV series?

The Authority was an all round good package. I read those not long back, and they're a frequent read. The heroes get more and more annoying though. Millar and Quitely's run tanked it as DC seemed to get very squeamish. I'd possibly put the Ultimates on the list.

I read Form Hell when it came out, and it was engrossing enough. But It's not one I've gone back to. I think there were gluts of Ripper things around at one time, and it fell a bit foul of that.

IIRC Invisibles got a change of direction early on. I did buy it, so it can't have been that bad. Jimenez art probably saved it for a lot of months.

The Great Darkness Saga would be up there, although I'd check some of those Adventure archives to see which ones had Mordru etc.

I would also add "X-Men/Teen Titans," "Excalibur" issue 61 (Phoenix vs Galactus, by Alan Davis), "Incredible Hulk" issue 393 (30th Anniversary), and the first John Byrne issue of "Alpha Flight."

There doesn?t seem to be a limit? I would take
- as much of the Levitz Legion as I could, certainly GDS.
- 5YL Legion
- Scott McCloud?s Zot!
- Morrison: Flex Mentallo & We3 & AllStar Superman
- Wicked & Divine
- East of West
- Shirtless Bear Fighter, to make me laugh

Why are you laughing at me? It's unkind, as well as puzzling!

No limits, sometimes a polybagged issue will float in on the tide., and other times you'll discover the treasure chest of comic goodness under the giant X, kindly put there by the pirates. smile

It's really interesting to see books I've not heard of, yet alone read in other people's lists. I've not heard of Shirtless Bear Fighter. I've not read Wicked & Divine or East of West either. I've just read an article on Zot. I liked the couple I've read, but it seems to have developed further as it went along. I'd have to pick out some 5YL issues too.

Is it limited to things we own?

Because I'm thinking a complete run of Action would provide plenty of entertaining reading, plus a nice nest egg if I ever get rescued! wink

Just for Fun I'd take all of Carl Bark's Uncle Scrooge stories along with Don Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Great fun and great stories.

To say nothing of being able to use the bad issues as toilet paper.

Hahahahaha, Ann Hebistand! I can think of several comics I might prefer to use as toilet paper on a deserted island Rather than read them.

Thoth Lad, Shirtless Bear Fighter is more recent like wicked & Divine. Your mileage may vary on the type of humor, but I remember laughing out loud more than with any other comic series in years. Since then, Fraction?s Jimmy Olsen has made me laugh out loud just as much.

Thoth Lad, I can?t find any recent articles on Zot. Do you remember where you read it?
The early issues were a bit naive, innocent, I guess. It definitely developed later with the ?Earth Stories?.

Midshipman Myg: Look! On the horizon! A ship!
Sailmaker Rokk Steady: We're saved!
Capn' (acting) thoth: Do we want to be saved? We've loads of comics and beer.
First Mate Fickles: I've not even started Flex Mentallo again.
Capn' (acting up) thoth: ...and there's the beer...
Midshipman Myg: It's flying a flag!... I can just make it out...
Sailmaker Rokk Steady: The Treasure Island of Comics could be under threat from Comic Pirates!
First Mate Fickles: Is it a skull and crossbones?
Midshipman Myg: >gasp[< no! it's worse it's...
All together: An I for Image flag! ... Speculators!

Will the nefarious Admiral EDE invade Treasure Comics Island and fill it with holographic variants?! How many X-Men #1s can you bury in a single pit before breaching the Earth's crust?!

It was in Back Issue #22 which also has an excellent Legion interview with Levitz & GIffen (as well as a good Laird/ Eastman interview).
