No a disembodied gun. It wasn't a normal gun though and there's something about the victim.

She did not know the shooter. It is '60s DC and there's a sci fi theme to the tale.

That would have been creepy to have had either party resemble Sharon. And it was possible. But Ibby gets closest with an alien doing the shooting.
What really traumatised Sharon though, was that the victim wanted to be shot. When shot, he turned from human into an alien. Both the victim and shooter were aliens and the weapon enabled them to change their appearance.

The lineup was a welcome hint with Grayson being Nightwing only after West had left. So, that made me think of the Trigon story. I was trying to think of things the gods might have given her, but couldn't come up with anything, when the penny dropped. All of which is mere distraction while I think of a new question...
