I don't know why, but this issue's cover keeps popping up in my mind recently.

To be honest I don't like this story due to the misunderstanding with Ayla ( I felt she should have more trust in Imra at least) and Reep and Garth beating themselves up seemed overdone. I did read it out of order though since I didn't actively collect the Legion until the Baxter series so maybe it didn't read that way at the time.

completely agree, idle! I always felt Ayla should have had more trust in both Brin and in Imra... plus, what I remember was Brin hugging Imra, it's not like they kissed or anything. And also, Garth never reacted negatively, why did Ayla?

Ayla just came across really poorly in that storyline.

Yeah, I think that was the story where Shrinking Yera started getting all cosy with Gim...the actual story doesn't really hold up well, it's a bit contrived and over the top with the melodrama but I am a sucker for those "small band of heroes trapped in isolation somewhere and doing character development" bits (and the cover was actually very memorable!)

Yeah they were close but it was freezing but no indication of kissing that I saw. Unfortunately I've known some people of both sexes who jump to the wrong idea with their significant others, but Imra had (as far as I recall) never shown a sign of infidelity towards Garth. It did seem abrupt on Ayla's part.

indeed. that was the part that annoyed me - it all seemed like a silly misunderstanding - and I remember Ayla not giving Brin any chances to clear it up. Element Lad also didn't come off well, I remember him making several snide comments to Imra and Brin...

Retroactively, it seemed almost like Ayla was looking for an excuse to break things off with Brin (and I don't recall Imra and Garth having any real repercussions, relationshipwise, which made me think that Garth didn't think it was worth a big blow up, and he's... pretty high-strung...).
