Very plausible.

Being young and (relatively) attractive does have its benefits. (thinks about all the men in their 40s and 50s who tried to "comfort" me after I came to Amsterdam fresh from a break up)

*had to add the relatively, because I can't say I'm a 10/10 Adonis*

Oh, jeez... thinking about my younger years, and being hit on by older married dudes who acted like they were doing me some huge favor. Some merely annoying, and some... ugh. Well, never mind.

I wasn't a beauty queen back in those days or anything, but I was young, skinny, and (or so they thought) an easy mark. So I guess that was enough.

Youth is overrated.

"Easy mark", sigh.

Alas. And some of these guys like bragging about their high paying job and nice house. With a "come over and see me, I'll let you taste my whiskey collection."

Still being able to settle in with a nice bourbon any time I felt like it... That would be nice, though.

The problem with good bourbon is that one isn't enough, then it turns into one bourbon too many, then I remember why I stopped drinking it.

No bourbon tonight but I did just enjoy a lovely cup of rose petal tea.

We had a two-day burst of blazing dry heat here last week, but now it's damp and chilly again. I put the fan back in the closet.

Today is also magically cooler and damp, after a string of bright sunny days. Although most of them had a lovely breeze, and we opened all the windows to let it flow through the house... except yesterday, was just awful dry heat!

glad the weather is better for you today cleome smile

Heh! Would you like to try tropical weather? In the Philippines it was always hot, the main difference was hot and hotter, and also wet and dry.

Yeah, no... smile

This last week though it was extremely tropical - hot and humid - AND we're at peak Cicada right now so its kind of a hot mess outside. laugh

It was quite a scorcher here today, even at 10 a.m., as we waited in line to be let in for my younger son's HS graduation.

Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Congrats on your son's graduation day, Lardy!

I'm glad your son's school was able to do things in person for this year!

Congrats, Lardy!

I graduated from high school at 16 (a huge mistake--I wasn't emotionally ready for college after I turned 17 that summer), so I just marked the 35th anniversary of my high school graduation.

I hated high school. I've never understood people who look upon that time of life with fond nostalgia.

Same. I guess it would be nice to have the physical stamina I had back then. But not if I have to take back all the other stuff, too.

A million percent agree. My life got way better once I got out of all that crap and could chart my own course, but even that took a few years until I got a better sense of how life really worked.

Hell, I didn't get to my physical peak until my 40s, but that's because I spent too much time not taking better care of myself in my 20s.

High School wasn't too bad for me, especially the last couple of years where nearly all my courses were AP-type things. I wouldn't want to go back, though, except in a "knowing what I know now" kind of way.

The first time I truly enjoyed school was during my MBA days. my peers were actually mature, it was the only time I didn't get bullied. Except for 1 or 2 classmates who tried to bully everyone, but they got backlash from everyone. It was the first time I felt comfortable enough to come out to my class, too.

High school and college? They shaped me, but each produced only a handful of people I wish to keep in contact with. Would never go to a reunion of either, because it would just be a waste of my time.

Same. I never went to any HS reunions because after the first couple - 5 and 10 year - the bastards never bothered to track me down to send me an invite.

For the later ones, I didn't bother. Then at the end they were lazy and just did the tracking and invitation via social media (see our earlier discussion there on my views).

I did go to a 30 year reunion of sorts for my High School band but I ended up just hanging out with the friends I kept in contact with over the years anyway. I did engage in pleasantries with others, but I didn't really care. Most of the people I couldn't stand from those days were still jerks.

Ugh bastards!

yeah, I think a lot of jerk-y entitled people won't change even after ages. I've seen that myself. I can still identify the ones who only message me when they need something for example...

I never get invites for anything from either of the art colleges I attended. Which is fine, honestly. They'd only be contacting me if they wanted money, and I don't have any for them.

My Mom insisted on telling the private school the folks sent me to for two years where I live now. Even after I assured her that I wasn't interested. After 40 years, I still never open their damn mail.
