That bugged me, too. I thought it was an interesting choice that Jo 'missed the timing,' since, logically, it would have to happen from time to time (else his limitation is no limitation at all, if it never comes around to bite him on occasion!).
And then he flash visions his own hand, which should have fried it down to the bone... Even if he could control the heat precisely, it acted more like a force effect, blasting the gunk away, instead of burning it off.
The level of character thought that went into his mistiming scene was, IMO, kind of negated by his utter botch of flash-cleaning his hand.

I think I am missing something..? All I see Jo doing in this issue is tearing into the ship with Mon-El, using invulnerability to walk into the alien guy's blaster fire, and then punching him out?
Where is the sore hand/frying goop off his hand thing coming from?

I hear that. I just got around to reading the Dragonwing two-parter last night (and it wasn't half bad).

Yeah, I like what I've seen of the character, but at this point it's not very much. :/
