Meet the Shadow Ancestors

Synopsis: Mon-El is head over heels in love with his girlfriend Tasmia, and is ready to pop the big question, but he realizes the key to her hand in marriage lies with her shadow ancestors. A trip to Talok VII for her cousin Grev's wedding to Lady Memory seems just the right occasion for Greg to ask Pam to be his wife. But from the time of his arrival at the family's picturesque cave, everything that could go wrong does. No one is good enough for the planetary protector, and Mon’s efforts to win over the shadow ancestors result in a series of disasters, from spilling ancestor Lydea Mallor’s ashes to a hilarious faux pas involving the ceremonially severed pinky finger of the Lady Memory.

Notable quote: “My shadow has nipples, Mon. Could you milk my shadow?”

Bismollian Pie

Boy gets girl. Boy loses girl. Boy gets pie.

Synopsis: Tenzil is your average healthy re-blooded Bismollian virgin -- he's desperate to "make it" with a woman. The stakes are raised when his sponsor, RJ Brande, catch him with his pants down watching porno-coms in his quarters, his one experience with a beautiful Naltorian exchange student turns into an omnicom disaster and his friends make a pact that by the day of their high school graduation, none of them will be virgins. Pressure's on, but will Tenzil rise to the occasion?

Notable quote: “This one time, on Korbal…”

And lastly...this one isn't a movie, though I'm sure they appear on Legion movie soundtracks.

The hot band of the 2980's - Durlan Durlan.

ROTFL These are hillarious.

Only thing is, I don't recognize the movie references in Digby Goes Down and Angels and Insect Queens. (I''m so out of touch.)

Brilliant work, Mondo! Thanks for posting them! I've already saved them all -- this is a must for the fan-art file. (Except for "Blue Velvet." Can't stand David Lynch, even of the 2980s.)

Arachne, I know one of those allusions -- "Igby Goes Down," the 2002 black comedy / coming-of-age story with Kieran Culkin and Claire Danes -- but I'm just as stumped on the second one as you are.

I believe Angels and Insect Queens is based on the movie Angels and Insects with Kristin Scott Thomas from 1996. It tells about the lives of naturalists and is set in England in 1864.

The movie, in turn, was based on a novella, Morpho Eugenia, by A.S.Byatt.

These remind me of those Wacky Packs I used to collect when I was a kid based on brand names -- those were hilarious.

Btw, I also loved the Nardo / Chris Walken one -- I didn't think Walken could look any odder...
