The through-the-message-board e-mail apparently has been restored, as some people are displaying the e-mail icon on the "posted" line once again. (Can we assume that PowWeb is no longer "black-holed"?)

The options for receiving e-mail from others (non-administrators) have been restored in My Profile. My setting was put to "No e-mail" when I first checked it today. When I had last set it, before e-mail went away, it was to the middle setting, "through the board."

I set e-mail to "through the board" again, but the e-mail icon did not appear with my posts. I changed it again to "display address openly," the top setting, and the icon still did not appear. Re-loading the pages involved didn't have any effect. (I didn't try logging out and logging in again, I'll do that later today.)

Should I expect that this change to My Profile will take some time to register? It always showed up immediately in the past. I'd like to have the e-mail icon appearing, as it always had done in the past, whether I had it set as "through the board" or "display openly."

... Well, now that icon is showing up. I guess it takes at least 10 minutes for the relevant UBB files to fully update.

I'll note once again, though, that now that this option has been restored to My Profile, it apparently is defaulting to "No e-mail," the third choice. Even if you once had it set to the first or second choices (either one displays that logo), you apparently have to make that Profile choice again now.

No official word was given. But I noticed that the problem was no longer occuring when other e-mail options were returned, so I restored it fully.

I'm not certain about the "No e-mail" problem, but I suspect it is another symptom of the PowWeb bug affecting several of our profiles.
