Hey Gary, how much server space do you have? Any chance that we could all get an @legionworld.net email address?

I actually have enough POP e-mail accounts to handle anyone here who wants one. But you'd have to settle for @lightninglad.com instead of @legionworld.net.

Personally, I'm thinking that our main focus at Legion World should be the forums. I just worry about branching off into email maintenance, and any additional headaches that might involve.

Well, mine comes as part of my webhosting and is supposed to be headache free. Its there if anyone wants one but I'm not going to go and promote it outside this thread and campaign for everyone to get a new e-mail address.

Most such e-mail addresses involve "redirects." Such mail isn't stored -- the server re-sends it at once to a personal address that each person has specified. So it wouldn't be much more in the way of overhead, maintenance, or storage space.
Kynn Bartlett's setup at LSH.org works in the same way. For a one-time $5 fee you can have any character named in the Legion books be your alias for mail sent to that name @LSH.org (and if someone hasn't taken it already). All such e-mail is automatically forwarded.

Mine is supposed to be an actual POP account with a web interface, not that I've taken advantage of the 2K addresses I have available.
And as for Kynn's addresses, he (?) has not answered any of the e-mails I've sent in over 2 years in trying to get one of the @lsh.org addresses. And now anyone that I want is long gone.

POP accounts do use up storage space, 'tis true. You may want to avoid the accompanying hassles if you're not doing this commercially, or if you're not using an understanding that anyone's mail left on the server for more than six months (or whatever period) is subject to being deleted. E-mail redirects don't have that concern.
Try for a response from Kynn at kynn@idyllmtn.com (Valor@LSH.org doesn't seem to be monitored). He made a recent change for me within 4 hours. I had to jettison an LSH.org address because I'd let it become spam-choked.

Due to changes in PowWeb's service, I've been forced to close down the board's various e-mail related functions. No new registrations, subscriptions to topics/PMs, or ability to "Contact Us" until I can figure out how to adapt to PowWeb's changes.
Sorry.

Just to add to Gary's note above. There has been a problem with a major router/re-router used by many ISP's that is causing mail to bounce. Basically someone spammed this provider through PowWeb and now they've been blacklisted.
Something that will help in the future is if everyone that is using the PM function to be notified by e-mail makes sure that the e-mail they have listed is correct and working. If not, please change to a valid e-mail or turn off that function. The same goes for topic subscriptions. Do not subscribe unless the e-mail in your profile is correct.
And please make sure any of your Alt-IDs (those that have them) follow this as well. You can only use your e-mail address on one account. So if you don't have a backup e-mail then your Alt-ID cannot be using the e-mail functions.

I always turn off the notify me by e-mail option on my profiles. It just seems redundant (to me) to be notified by e-mail that I have a PM, when an occasional refresh will ensure I see the blinking red notice to check my inbox. Just a thought.

Well at least they do allow the board to run. Unlike the promises made by my provider who are great in everything else BUT Infopop software compatability.
